I did an offset in the past and had the job corrected and the offset points didn't move. Now I know why. This is great.

Good video. I appreciate the reply from one other who mentioned Averaging. Thanks to all!!

Man bread crumbs that comes in handy, storing as azimuth, perfect. Thanks a lot!!!

Pulled this video up in the field. So helpful! Thank you, Robert!

If I really can't get near a pole/tree for an RTK shot I prefer distance-distance intersection. CF pole is 2 metres, so a quick way to measure, and just make sure you use good triangle geometry and correct side for solution.

Shooting a double distance is also a quick easy method.

Brilliant, I've just used this. Thank you.

Nice option, though that should be under the measure points options. I locate poled with GNSS by observing a point on each side of the pole (in a straight line with the pole) using the same point name twice (store another) and my TBC is set to computations : weighted means of like observations so the pole position gets computed then.

Oh wow! Kinda a duh moment. I do that with control points all the time! Why didn’t I think of that?! Lol

My workflow exactly, no need to judge off set bearing (and we hardly ever see the sun here in the Sottish Highlands)

You should be the surveyor with the you tube channel lol

We do a lot of electrical utility work and we stick our boot up against the pole and take a shot at 1/3 circumference of pole. Our office calcs the center, doesn’t matter which point you call MOC

Excellent videos Robert, I just subscribed. Do you have a video on how to use Access in the office without actually setting up equipment? For testing/learning purposes? Thank you

Hey Robert, have you had any experience with geomax xpad tablets?

      I have not

@@SurveyingWithRobert I like using distance offsetting in Trimble access this is really useful though at my company we use Trimble but only for the robotic total station, we have a geomax tablet with egps which gives us two data collectors so sometimes that is useful because I can get my helper to use the gps for one thing and I the party chief will use the Trimble but I still think the Trimble r12 is far superior we rented the r12i for a 400 acre bathemetric survey last winter and I would really love to have one.

Why not calc with dis/dis and then key in point (first type in your calc point) and rename those coordinates? I’m not 100 percent but I’m guessing this avoids issues with network adjustments.
Why are you working so hard?

I am a surveyor I always work hard! 🤣 your working harder with the distance offset. I am using the sun in this video. And yes if you don’t store it correctly you loose the vectors on the point. Your locking the coordinate down. If you do any adjustment that point won’t move. Hope this helps.

@@SurveyingWithRobert Yes, I recently learned this from some senior chiefs, thank you (Regarding locking down cord's)
