- Shadow Environment Minister Jonathon Duniam has slammed “ridiculous, incompetent” Victorian Energy Minister Lily D’Ambrosio for her comments on nuclear.
“Lily D’Ambrosio ... talking about all nuclear technologies being dangerous,” he told Sky News host Steve Price.
“This inflammatory language based on zero knowledge and zero facts, and zero science just proves that regardless of how good the suggestion might be, if it doesn’t meet up with their ideology, they won’t go with it.”

I don't understand how any level of government in this country can oppose nuclear power when we are building nuclear powered submarines.
I don't believe that Australia will actually own or operate nuclear subs, they may have an Australian flag and a few token Aussie sailors but American military run an owned.
I learned last week in Victoria the weather was 14deg cloudy windless day. The renewable energy produced 2% of power needed, the rest was produced by you guessed it by coal and gas Go figure
Obviously they have to shut down "fossil fueled" power generation so that the renewables are now 20% of all demand !!!
That of course means power cuts 24/7 across ALL of the communist Republic of Victoria and people will die of hypothermia but well, sometimes sacrifices just have to be made, as indeed Comrade joseph stalin said........

I'm guessing that the main reason Labor don't want to even discuss nuclear as an option or in 'the mix', is that they know their Facts against nuclear, won't stand-up to the Facts for it.
Seeing Bowen's smug face telling us that Australian states, as they are controlled by Labor, will not be changing their minds, did little to add clarity. Admittedly I struggle to listen to Bowen, as I find him somewhat unlikeable. But please at least consider all options for energy solutions.
Energy policy should never be left to politicians on a state level, energy is a matter of national security , and if the people vote for it , then no one, not the fascists in Labor or the Green trolls should be allowed to interfere, let's have a referendum , a real one, let's get the facts out there, let the fearmongering and lies stop, we need base load energy to survive with any certainty. Energy independence is vital for any economy to grow, we have the resources to make this country a powerhouse of industry, If the Greens and Labor are so worried about the global warming hoax, then stop sending coal to China, a country that hasn't signed any accords on fossil fuels. If Australia sunk into the ocean tomorrow, it would not matter one jot, nor would it make any discernible difference to CO2 outputs on a global scale, and that is a fact , not a fiction.
The coalition should go ahead with this and get at least one done, that way in 2037 we can show how successful nuclear is and then labor can just refuse nuclear and only use wind and solar in their electorates. People can then see a real choice and make their decisions.

I have over 15 years of international experience in nuclear energy and the application of nuclear technologies. Nuclear energy is currently the only economically viable and reliable solution in the absence of coal-fired power stations. I am confident in challenging the assumptions and input data of any modelling to the contrary. Relying solely on renewables would be economically disastrous, undoubtedly leading to frequent load shedding and blackouts, sky-high electricity prices, a significant reduction in foreign direct investment, and a very high probability of a total network collapse.

Costs have not been announced yet, why? Time frames are hopelessly at odds with what most experts say, where is the discrepancy? I am not against nuclear power but many questions remain unanswered. It's a different technology than the one in 1984. It's a new technology that will give us reliable non emission energy. Unlike renewables which are weather dependant, which last 20 years before having to be replaced.

It is a very dangerous and complex task to de commission a Nuclear Power Station and waste disposal is very complex.
How many of the 200 Nuclear Power Stations are currently fully operational? Two are closed due to catastrophic failure Fukushima and Chernobyl.
If other countries want Nuclear Power - Good for them - I don't want Nuclear Power and I have a democratic right to say so!
