Willie I’ve helped rescued and rehoused a few horses that came from kill floors. I still have one and his name is Dodge. They are beautiful animals and I try doing what I can. I only have 7 acres but what I do is bring they back to their former glory and the find them new loving homes. I’ve been doing it now for 9 years. But I have a friend that’s been doing it a lot long. We helped her by rehab some of her horses and find hay and people to donate to pay for the hay. All I want to say is Thank You for helping out 4 legged gentle giants.
My Great-Great Uncle from Lebanon TN, trained mules from his teen years. He had mammoth jacks to breed from even though he was 5 foot 4" tall. Uncle Bud was born in the 1890's. He lived into his ninety's. John Deere didn't have anything on his mule team. This song is so true.
Willie, this is heartbreakingly beautiful. And I'm happy that you get to use your money and fame to do something for those beautiful, graceful, four-legged creatures who've done so much for us silly humans.
l'd say Willy has just saved countless horses by singing this song, he has captured the very essence of love between a horse and it"s rider, you know, the Australian soldiers shot their own horses because they didn't want to leave them in Turkey after World War 1. They couldn't bring them back home, the bloody government wouldn't let them, it must have killed them poor bastards, their horses went thru hell and back, and because they were frightened that their bloody horses would have been mistreated by the local arseholes that would have got them, and as much as it hurt them, they shot their mates, (their horses that put their own lives on the line) bloody well, themselves, l would have done the bloody same thing. l can't stand bloody cruelty to a horse or any other damn animal it's beyond belief what humans do to one another let own a poor animal. As a former show jumping rider myself (in my younger years), I learned so much about these majestic animals and the love they actually have for mankind. They deserve our respect for all they have done for us humans in the past. We do need to protect and save our wild horses and give them a safe place to roam.
Beautiful. I heard a snip of this song on the radio and came searching for it. Willie for me has always been just someone I knew about in the background. Listening to this and investigating other songs, it's definitely worth further exploration. I am a small town girl living in a city environment. Lately I've been yearning for farm life. Thank you Willie for bringing attention to our horses! As a lifelong equestrian, I have been so lucky to have a family that has trained horses to great things and accomplishments! We have also trained some horses that we rescued! My rescue buckskin gelding that I saved from slaughter at a year old is 32 years now. Horses are a lifelong commitment and deserve so much better. Many horses are imported for show jumping and so many horses can be trained to jump. While horses are imported, our x race horses and others are discarded and shipped to other countries for slaughter. My dad passed 6 years ago, he loved your music and your voice. He would have LOVED this video! Thank you again so much for singing to not only my heart but to many who's lives have been touched by horses....but most of all for the HORSES & MULES of AMERICA!

Horses has been always been there for me and they never judged me for having cerebral palsy, they love unconditionally and I'm thankful for Willie Nelson for helping them.

Willie, I love that you saved these horses. I shed tears when I see wild horses being chased by a chopper and sometimes are shot. If they cannot sell them, then they go to slaughter. Thank you from a horse lover.

Thank you so much Willie for making the fantastic and moving video that salutes HORSES. I have to admit that it brought a tear to my eye and touched my heart. As a former show jumping rider myself (in my younger years), I learned so much about these majestic animals and the love they actually have for mankind. They deserve our respect for all they have done for us humans in the past. We do need to protect and save our wild horses and give them a safe place to roam.
Beautiful. I heard a snip of this song on the radio and came searching for it. Willie for me has always been just someone I knew about in the background. Listening to this and investigating other songs, it's definitely worth further exploration. I am a small town girl living in a city environment. Lately I've been yearning for farm life. These songs make me wish even more to be sitting on a porch in a hand made willow rocker, watching the sun go down over a hazy field while my horses graze in the distance.

Thank you Willie for bringing attention to our horses! As a lifelong equestrian, I have been so lucky to have a family that has trained horses to great things and accomplishments! We have also trained some horses that we rescued! My rescue buckskin gelding that I saved from slaughter at a year old is 32 years now. Horses are a lifelong commitment and deserve so much better. Many horses are imported for show jumping and so many horses can be trained to jump. While horses are imported, our x race horses and others are discarded and shipped to other countries for slaughter. My dad passed 6 years ago, he loved your music and your voice. He would have LOVED this video! Thank you again so much for singing to not only my heart but to many who's lives have been touched by horses....but most of all for the HORSES & MULES of AMERICA!
