We miss Jimmy so much!!! Que sigas descansando en paz, y que Diosito te siga guardando en su gloria Jimmy! Mike you are such a fabulous drummer!!! GOD BLESS YOU!
Juan Murillo is my father and was an awesome bassist. I remember him and his band The Force practicing in our garage, this was all after Mazz of course.
I hated tejano music back then I was 12 years old but when I heard Mazz on the radio I loved it. They didn't sound tejano on some songs. But I even loved their tejano songs or any style those guys made majic. I learned alot listening to their music. Later on in the 90s I made a band called Oxygeno with a hit song called chikitikipoom.... All because Mazz and also other bands those days were my inspiration
My Jefito is from Brownsville, he grew up by Southmost, grupo Mazz is one of his favorite bands. We went to visit Jimmy’s Grave @ Buena Vista Burial Park Cemetery ayi en Brownsville on Memorial Day Weekend..
Orale Rock te abientastes miralo El vato got his own podcast QVO I grew up listening to rock n roll James since I can remember my jefita would always listen to que pasa and even before that my dad had his own group being back stage that's when I was see you I was at pro sound studio istead of being in school
I literally liked and started playing drums by going to The gaslight in McAllen and seeing Mike play the drums. I still have a pair of drum sticks he autographed after one show. He waved me to the stage to give me the sticks he used that night.
Good job ! First time seeing this but great show , HI MIKEY MY THOUGHTS N PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY I LOVE YALL . ALWAYS YOUR BEST WAITRESS FROM HOUSTON JUANITA 💖
Great video Rock. I live in Brownsville and Mazz is one of my favorite bands. I first saw them live back in the 80's and continued thru the years. I met Jimmy a couple of times and he was a very nice person.
Looking forward to the rest of the interview. I grew up listening to Jimmy G on Que Pasa 99.5, and learned how to play Tejano music on the drums by listening to his music.
My brothers band Potenzia use to open up for Mazz in Del Rio at the amphitheater every year when Mazz was in their prime. There is video of them playing a Mazz song at Jimmys request(they were "running late" haha)
@@Rocknrolljamesband if you could see my photo albums, Selena, Emilio, La Mafia, Mazz, Culturas, Jay, Ram, DLG... my brothers band got to open for all of them... then we got to play with Los Agues... i have some great stories n memories. Look up Los Agues Viviras Selena... I'm the kid you can't see over the drums n my brothers on keys with the Garcias(Los Agues)
Mazz, The Royal Jesters, Big Lou, Liberty Band, Sunny Y Los Sunliners, Ruben Naranjo, Augustine Ramirez, Freddie Martinez, Joe Bravo were always played in the house. I gotta thank my dad for that.
Hell yeah Monday doesn’t suck after all in rainy Florida, PVT is on time with another big one saludos a la familia Gonzalez I met Jimmy and Lisa G when they came to tour Florida and Jimmy was a humble great kind person he is such a legend and I was glad to have seen him with his sons and wife touring together as a family #PUROPVT #JimmyGMazz
“They started out in Brownsville Texas At Our Club Faces - Richard Novigrod My Brother in Law and Myself (Roy Davila) had this Night Club And We needed a house band and Jimmy Gonzalez was who we hired and he suggested this young vocalist who did not sing in Spanish only English at the Time and Jimmy Told Me To Go And Talk With Chepe Joe Lopez And That is when I first met him. We put the group together and we had a very successful run with the Group called Faces and when I left Brownsville To Go To Corpus Christi, Texas and Work with Our Family at Kcct as a DJ known as Güero Alegre. The Group continued on and Jimmy Changed The Name To Mazz. I continued to help them out when they first were going in to Spanish Music. But I believe the first one to help Chepe in Spanish was Armando Hinojosa with Los Fabulosos and Armando and I were good friends and everyone in the industry new of their talents. When Jimmy And Chepe were together doing music that was The Winning Combination and the rest is history (short version for sure) many more factors to this story would take to much time to type up.”
By any chance was Jimmy a diabetic.Did he ever consider getting gastric surgery to help him lose weight .He had lots of talent .I remember first hearing of Mazz in the late 70s but before 1981 while I was stationed in Germany while in the Army.May he rest in peace.
