It has definitely that vintage Oberheim sound quality from the first half of the eighties. My order is still not delivered and it was almost two months ago. I hope that I will get the shipment this year! 😉 Excellent patches!
Thanks for asking! I no longer have the UB-Xa (Space issues in my studio, might get the desktop module at some point) And I never managed to save the presets except for the whole completely unorganized bank. I might put that on some cloud for free when I find some time.
Can this be used as a controller for DAW? Enough throw for piano sounds? I'm really after the poly aftertouch and it's between this and Hydrasynth Delux.
Hi! Yes it works as a midi controller, the knobs transmit MIDI, not sure about the buttons. Even Volume transmits CC7. I am fine with the PAT but this is my first PAT keyboard and nothing to compare to. Playing piano with it I don't know. I played Rhodes sounds with it and was quite happy with the result but the keybed is very light. If that is your main interest I would go for something else. NI has an 88 PAT keyboard with hammer action now.
CC7 TX is counterproductive if you’re using the UBxa as a controller… turn volume down and your controlled synth is silent. I’ve resorted to setting my Hydrasynth desktop to not receive CCs as a work-around which I’m sure will become limiting.
Nice sounds. What did you set your contrast to for the display. I have mine at 20/21. It helps, but when viewed from certain angles from the side, everything still washes out.
My display is on 14 :) And yes you can only see it from a certain angle which should not be the case in 2024. Not sure why Behringer does that but i enjoy the synth too much to be bothered.
Thanks! I sold the UB-Xa just a few days ago - after I compared it to my Propeth 12 and was able to create similar sounding patches on it. (See my other video) So similar (to me) that I decided to get rid of it although the UB-Xa is a fine synth. It really sounds wonderful.
banks a b c d should hold 128 presets each yet i just received mine and am missing about 15 presets - the names of the presets are listed in the ub-xa manual yet only covers bank A- what about the names for the the rest of the presets in bank b c d - certain company states 512 presets yet manual states it should have 403 and mine contains 498- this is too much- spke to tech and there is a wa being researched on how to get all presets- i love it but seems like im missing alot of the meat...
I can only suggest to go through the banks once(except A, which s***s!) and write down your favorite patches on a sheet of paper... and then just overwrite all others with your own sounds. The most important button combination is SHIFT+WRITE to initialize a patch!!! I created my own init patch and stored it on A1 so I can start with my favorite settings already. Including some in the mod matrix for PolyAT and Velocity. Enjoy the UB-Xa!
It sounds good but not great, in my opinion. A great price for this, but It lacks the fidelity and rich harmonics of the SEM filter on the Oberheim . Doesn’t use the right oscillators, right filters etc. I have the TEO with only 5 voices and it sounds more inspiring and immersive in comparison. Just my opinion. No hate for Behringer here as I Own a DM 12 in which I feel is an instant classic.
For price it is amazing....but watching OB - X8 video's it sounds better.than Behringer. I might just pay the 7k for the Oberhiem but be in Heaven the rest of my life.
@@symbiat0 Because? You would hear the difference in a mix, of course... 🙂 ("It's a great synthwave song, BUT it's not an Obi pad, just a Behringer copy, tsk tsk..."
What a lovely sounding instrument! Behringer nailed it!
Sounds great. I’m waiting for the UBX to compare, love that creamy SEM sound.
Love your sounds, just learning sound design so looking forward to the day I can make something similar.
Great sounds! Another video please. Help spread some more joy in sound ao help deal with this sorry world!
Sounds really dope!!
very nice sounds!
Great programming - making the behringer shine...Now I'm convinced ! 😊
Great patches! 👍
Glad you like them!
Great patches. Be good to hear both with and without effects.
Thanks and valid point! I might consider that with a few of these sounds.

Way better than the stock patches this ships with!
are you going to sell the preset pack im interested

Wooooow!! 😮😮😮😮 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Well done! 🙂Which exact plug-ins or hardware devices did you use for the effects?
My favorite chorus from TAL and Native Instruments RAUM plugin in Ableton.
Are you planning to sell or share your patches? They sound very good.
Thanks! Yes I might do this, still not sure what the best way is but I am evaluating possibilities! First I will release another video :)

Sounds amazing! I assume you’re using external fx? The UBXA doesn’t have onboard fx correct??
No onboard effects. I am using Native Instruments Raum as my favorite reverb :)

@@gin-sonicgood morning thank you for the helpful information if I can ask on Bank A presets 118 through 127 are yours blank also?
Share or sell the patches. It’s kind of anyone’s game to win right now because the shipped presets are just…bad. And yours are good
I agree many of the factory presets are poor and don't show off what the ubxa can do.
Why didn't Behringer hire you to make patches?
That is very kind :) Thanks!

The Obxa didn't have a SEM filter. TEO is totally different synth, it shouldn't sound the same!

It sounds like 5000 USD, lol.
Not really.

@@Aetila Go watch Starsky’s comparison. Also the OBX-8 is like three synths in one, having presets and all the filters from the OB-X, OB-Xa, and OB-8.
