My yard is based heavily on a (small!) section of Midway Yard with quite a few 'borrowed' scenic elements from the old GBW Norwood Yard. As you are planning to do with CSX, I can have the BNSF or UP drop a cut of cars for last mile service by the Minnesota Commercial. It adds another fun operating dimension to small layouts and provides a connection to the wider world that the greats of the hobby always recommended we do. Even if you can't get an operational LH turnout in, modelling it as a 'ghost' could be an option that fits in with the abandoned siding theme. I've got a couple of 'ghost' turnouts designed in to my plan along streets (Traffic St NE and Cleveland St NE) to try to capture a little of what we see so much of with modern 'last mile' operators that use parts of fallen flag networks. Loving your channel, and very much looking forward to seeing how this extension turns out.
Appreciate the comments and good ideas. Sounds like we have a similar take on how these last mile railroads work. It’ll be an interesting project. Thanks for watching and for the comments.
Get back at it! It is hard to find the time, but when you do it is a bit therapeutic. Thanks for the comments and for your continued support and viewership!
Sounds like a good plan. Your plan for the abandoned siding is a grest location for the MOW equipment. Now we're all anxious to see the expansion completed and in action. Good luck in completing it.
Thanks Todd! If all goes well, I’ll have just enough space to get everything in the extension I need. Always stressful making that first rail cut with these projects. Have to destroy before you build. Thanks for watching!
Very exciting update, really like the idea about an interchange with CSX, which gives me an idea to ponder, and I can hardly wait to see progress videos. And please feel free to include your kitty more often. Part of the problem I'm having in planning my layout, is that the longest wall (~12 ft / 3.7 m) in my little office includes a west facing window that my cats enjoy in the afternoon as they have a tower in front of it so they can sunbathe. So, I just might have to shorten my layout considerably, or create a shadowbox layout that my cats can lay on top of (-which they'd probably enjoy regardless of the time of day). LOL
Hey Paul. Are you sure 8 inches will be wide enough ? You know what I mean... at the end, that's the kind of mistake I do and did in the past. NOT using enough space when it was possible. But you know better than me how much room you need for that project. Are you planing to move cars by both pulling and pushing them ? Thanks for the update. I still feel bad for that wonderful abandoned track !!! At least you're keeping it !
Fair questions. Challenge is, I can’t really go past the window which gives me a hard stop at 7’. Not enough length for a runaround or a ladder of switches. Relative to what I currently have, an extra 2 sidings of 48-52” will be ideal. But I know what you’re saying! I’ll keep you posted on the project.
@@HartfordWhaler Thanks Paul. Seems like you really know what you're doing. I'm planing something smaller on a 26 inches wide x 60 inches long module. Already built and ready to use. Something I could fully detail and work on several aspects of modeling I'm not doing lately. It only needs time witch I'm short of right now. I bought a Peco #6 turnout a few months ago (new version) and I'm not desapointed. I'm still mind setting my brain on it. Even with this kind of space, there's always missing room for all I would like to put on. So far, you've been very inspiring ! I would like a tracker to be part of it. Thanks for helping me cause you're already doing it.
I'm pleased that you're keeping your little weedy track. Looks very cool.
Me too! Can’t get myself to rip it up. Thanks for watching!
Excellent,more opportunities for switching!
Agree. Look forward to finishing it and getting it running. Thanks for watching!
That sounds like an interesting plan, Paul. We're looking forward to following your progress with your layout extension...cheers James 🙂👍
Thank you James. May have room for a Dylington billboard now!
@@HartfordWhaler now that's well worth building an extension for 😁👍

Can’t wait to see the progress, I need to get back to work on my layout, haven’t worked on it in a few months, keep lookin up 🙏🏻

Thank you! Look forward to sharing the progress. Might take a while, but I’ll post each step in the process. Thanks for watching!

Thanks! I’ll keep you updated. Rigby the cat is 27/7 at my feet. Can’t complain.
Glad you got that all settled…and ready to progress onward with the extension…
Thanks Anthony. Yeah, never easy to tear things up to add more. I like the curve on the corner of your layout. That’s the look I’m going for.
This expansion was a good idea 👍
Thanks Bill! Just posted a few pics

@@HartfordWhaler Forgot... I'm only using Code 70 tracks and turnouts. I feel out of scale when I get to 83.
whell just whait for it
It’s a comin’. Might be a few weeks, but we’ll get there. Thanks for watching!
