The pain is intense & the worse thing is you can’t even walk! Keep working on it & rolling your foot over a frozen water bottle to bring down the inflammation. Also make sure you’re wearing good supporting shoes!
It depends on the client & the severity of the plantar fasciitis. If they continue to run or aggravate it, it might take longer. I would start with a 30 min treatment twice a week for a couple of weeks & see how they do.
I really enjoyed learning all of that. Another idea for rolling: using an 8oz can of frozen tomato paste. It is the perfect size for feet! However, I worry about the cold making the tissues less flexible and creating more microtears if one stretches after cold rolling. Any thoughts about that?
Good idea on the can of tomato 🍅 paste. Anything that works. Rolling over frozen water bottle brings down the swelling & helps with pain. The stretching should be moderate & not extreme. Usually people stretch first thing in the morning when it hurts more.
You should be able to request your therapist to work more on your foot. You’re paying for the massage. It’s usually the specific treatment therapist that will do that

Thanks Maria, useful video. Can I ask, what exactly is the flossing and what does it achieve? I've heard the term before but it wasn't covered on my course. Thanks :)
Hello Emma. Flossing is just a name for a technique that I use. Like flossing your teeth where you go back & forth. The purpose is to shorten & lengthen the muscle (or tendon) several times so it will relax. You don’t do force it, just gentle back & forth movements through the action of the muscle. I hope this explanation helps 🤗
Great video, thanks! Is it OK to do exercises if your PF is painful or will it make things worse? I've just been using a spikey ball, and messaging but don't know if to do the bottom stair stretch/exercise.
I would also recommend the frozen water bottle to bring down the swelling. Roll the bottom of your foot over it. Don’t over stretch it because sometimes it makes it worse. I would massage it and let it rest for a week & see you you are before continuing exercise. Sometimes the exercise (specially running) makes it worse
