    $46.95 a gallon is outrageous. This is a good video by the way, going to use this method this weekend.

    I have this same 2,488cc Mazda engine and the cabin heater hoses have Quick-Snap connectors at the firewall.

    Is there no way to flush the system first rather than repeatedly diluting old coolant?

    Thanks for making this video, I have the same car, except mine is a 2010 6i 6 speed manual with 118k miles. I'm ordering this coolant and will be changing it as soon as it arrives. I'm not a fan of the 'works in all vehicles' universal crap.

    How many Ravenol containers did you use overall, including the flushing and top off.

      Two gallons of concentrate.

    Question, how much freon can you put into this car, I have the same one.

    • @krgetler

      That is a tricky question. Just to make sure we are clear - I was working on coolant. But I understand you are asking about refrigerant (aka R123a). There should be a sticker showing you how much refrigerant by weight goes into the car. In my experience, the only way to make sure you have the weight right is to make sure there is zero refrigerant in the system and then use a kitchen/weight scale to measure how much refrigerant by weight you put back in. You can try to 'top it off' but you are only guessing by pressures how much is really in there. Good Luck!

    Most cars now days have so called "special" coolant from the manufacture. You DON'T have to use it. WIth a drain and flush you can use any name brand extended life coolant for a fraction of the cost of the dealer stuff.

      Mark - I agree but unless you can figure out how to get 100% of the old fluid out of the engine, heater, hoses and radiator you will be mixing coolants to some degree. I suggest the use of what the manufacturer put in so there are no mixing issues.

      Easy use a pressure tester You're supposed to flush it with distilled water In fact you're supposed to fill the whole system with distilled water after you drained it , Run it with distilled water For a little bit then flush it again with the pressure tester you can rent for free at any autozone...

    What colour do i use in a mazda 6 2litre?

    • @krgetler
      @krgetler  4 роки тому

      LM, I am not sure based on the limited information you provided. However, my first suggestion would be to look at the coolant reservoir cap or for any factory stickers on the firewall near the filler cap or the hood latch.

    you can add ravenol concentrate to the original Mazda antifreeze

    • @krgetler
      @krgetler  2 роки тому +1

      Sure you can. Keep in mind though, the 50-50 balance of water to anti-freeze is a balance between heat conveyance (mostly the water) and boiling point elevation/freezing point depression (the glycerol in the anti-freeze). Adding concentrate to extend beyond 50% anti-freeze is not ideal.

    FL22 Lasts for 11 years or 120,000 miles.
    So don’t use cheap coolant, it’ll cost more in the long term!

    you only drain 5 qt of the coolant, what about the other 4.9 qt? is there a way to drain all 9.9 qt of coolant from the car?

    • @krgetler
      @krgetler  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, Hang. Good question. I don't know of any other practical way to extract the remaining coolant which does not naturally drain. You could repeat the process....Change 1 = 50% new fluid (5 old quarts drained). Change 2 = 25% additional new fluid (5 total quarts drained but only 2.5 quarts of old drained), Change 3 = 12.5 % additional new fluid (5 total quarts drained but only 1.25 quarts of old drained). So, 3 drain/fills = 87.5%. You will continue getting diminishing returns on each subsequent change. FYI - Honda uses the 50% drain/fill strategy on their service schedule so if you keep up with their maintenance routine your coolant would always have effective coolant and rust protection.

      @@krgetler Hello friend, Welp then it seems that Im screwed then I cannot get the original FL22 so I decided that I would flush it all but now that you mention that theres no way to get all the coolant out (only half) then I think I will have to do fill flush fill flush many times with NEW coolant .....damn....that could take up to 5 gallons or more

      It doesn't matter if all of it doesn't come out as long as you put some new antifreeze , just do it the regular way , the world is almost gonna end , so. , you know doesn't have to be perfect 😳
