Thank you

    I would like to upload the contents of an entire 2TB USB Drive and then wipe that drive to use it for something else. Then I would later like to download all of the contents back onto the USB drive. Is this possible?

      To do what your talking about you would probably be better suited in getting an external hard drive or another USB drive. The upload process for all cloud back up servers is slow and would take a few days to complete depending on your internet speed. If you want to use iDrive to do this I would recommend the BMR (Bare Metal Recovery) option. They ship you a hard drive, you copy your files to it and send it to them. They will take that drive and load it to your account. The files will be there for download later. Note: Don't sign into your iDrive on the drive that has your new info on it as it will attempt to sync that old 2TB of files to it. In the end you might want to talk with iDrive customer service before you start all this. They may have an additional tip I am not aware of.

    Thx for the video. But so far, I haven't seen anyone streaming a video stored in idrive! Is that a mystery or what? Intrigued here!

      Look at idrive as insurance for your digital files. It will store and hold them for when an emergency strikes. They hold a mirror of your PCs files. iDrives servers most likely don't have the speed to stream from, nor is that their purpose.

    Whtas the big diference to M365? I mean, other than the available space to backup, up to a 1TB I believe M365 is a better packeage, 5 accounts with 1TB of onedrive space and acess to the desktop or web versions of Office.

    • @TheFreedomProvider
      @TheFreedomProvider  4 роки тому

      Great question - M365 offers cloud storage which is great for syncing across multiple devices however is not ideal for disaster recovery. While it may work well in many cases to restore lost files it is a less secure method and susceptible to attacks like ransomware. I am having a problem with "cloud drive". ....bought Idrive ....still trying to figure this out. ...still unclear on what "back up", vs "Cloud drive". Why is the "cloud drive" on my PC if it is a "cloud" drive? Why do I need both "back up" and "cloud drive". Thanks

      Hi Rick, It's my understanding that the Cloud drive is simply iDrives version of a Google drive or Dropbox. A location that can be accessed across multiple devices. If you had the iDrive app on your phone you would see same files in cloud drive that are in your cloud drive on your PC.
      The back up drive is just that the copy of the files you want protected by iDrive. This process to get the initial upload is slow and can be interrupted by PC sleep and power saving settings.
      You don't need both. I ignore the cloud drive as I feel other programs have this covered with better features.

    Thanks for sharin ghow to back up the external drives! Could not find that in the iDrive FAQ's!

    • @TheFreedomProvider

      Maureen, When you open iDrive on the Backup tab there is a list of folders you have selected for back up. To add or remove from that list click the change button in the bottom left of that window. From there a new window will open so you can choose your external drives.
      Hope this helps.

      Just to let you know, if you have a lot of files, or large files, your first backup can take a REALLY long time. Seriously. Consider doing your initial backup in pieces.

    i got the 6.95 for 5tb for 1 year the bad part is it takes a long time to upload due to most internet.

    • @TheFreedomProvider
      @TheFreedomProvider  4 роки тому +1

      Yes you are correct. The initial upload is slow. You might want to temporarily change power settings to stay on for continuous upload.
      The other option idrive offers is the BMR Bare metal recovery service.
