The problem is when plastic becomes a part of our system it is difficult to get rid of it as it does not decomposes but breaks down into micro plastics.
These micro plastics then become a part of our food chain either through food or direct inhalation.
Regularly Eating food heated in plastic wrappers containers could be one of the reasons for cancer.
I hope and pray the solution of living in houses made up of plastic bricks is not more dangerous than the current problem itself. More research needs to be done into this field .

Plastic doesn't take 400 years to degrade, it just splits into smaller and smaller particles washing into everything.

Yes! Plastics, although they may not catch a fire, produce toxic and inflammable gases while getting heated up which can lead to a so called flash-over.
His technique is still interesting and at least he is trying to change the world for the better.

Yes! I work with geopolymer (mineral cement-like recycled binders) (see the Wikipedia page of geopolymers for more information, but look up the English one, never the German). And, yeah, I feel with proper technique, there must be a way to use dessert sand. I try to get my hands on some. But the next dessert is couple thousands miles away from my place (Bavaria). But thanks to global warming, that might change soon.

  • @Advanced_Materials_Publishing

I like the way you guys think and it is very cool to see that so many people at least try to change the world for the better! Thanks for that!
Have you ever considered to use inorganic/mineral polymers in your bricks? Geopolymers (a aluminosilicat) can be made by utilizing large quantities of industrial waste and they have a chemical composition close to the one from glass plus the same covalent bonds. After mixing the ingredients, one can observe a cement like geopolymer slurry which can be molded and mixed with all kinds of fillers (plastic, sand, gravel, fibres ). 24 hours later they are rock solid.
The basic fly ash-geopolymer formulation is:
    4 g class-f fly ash
    1 g sodium waterglass solution
    0.2 g NaOH plus
    0.2 g water
Of course it is more complicated than that and only people with laboratory experience, who know what they are doing, should give this formulation a shot.
    Keep up the good work!

It’s better than using standard bricks but if sand is being used, it’s still not sustainable as we’ve used so much sand already for the construction industry.
Is there a way to replicate this without using sand?

  • @ChandasTelugu
    @ChandasTelugu 2 роки тому +2

I think glass bottles filled with dessert/sea sand can be used as bricks.
I'm not sure if we can call a plastic bottle mixed with cement as eco friendly. It may become hard to recycle such form of plastic in future.

      Hi Jaro,
Yes you are right it is possible, but as of now the demand for plastic items is so high and there are no good sustainable alternative to it. Hence the companies are busy filling this huge demand, but where as for brick the sector is highly competitive and has lots of sustainable alternatives so it's not lucrative for big companies to enter this segment.

Yes you are right it does emit CO2 while melting, but there is a difference between melting plastic in controlled environment fitted with smoke filter towers and CO2 scrubbers as compare to burning it in open.
The cardon recovered from the filter is again used to make bricks to reduce overall carbon footprint.

If you are looking for cheap housing solutions use clay bricks and lime stone for construction. Houses made of limestone are way cooler than conventional concrete houses and it gets stronger with time moreover they reduce carbon dioxide present in air.
