Luke Anderson hell yeah man, never was a Carmichael fan but watching him race thru the years he grew on me. Definitely one of my favorite riders of all time.
Absolutely, he was one determined little scrapper. There was no let up in the way he rode and he was ready and willing to do battle with whoever the supposed contender might be. I don't feel like that was the case with a lot of riders. They may say they're ready to do battle, but their actions didn't reflect that the way his did to me. If him and whoever the contender was got out front and they passed him, that didn't deter or change he mindset at all and best believe he wasn't going anywhere and was going to MAKE them beat him. It was going to take all you had and the day of your life to get a victory over this guy. A true champion that faced all comers head on with no let up or back down from anyone.
I remember I was in Las Vegas with friends and Supercross was on at the bar... I stayed behind and watched James Stewart beat RC for the very first time and I was thinking holy shit, who is this JS7 guy. I had tingles down my body. Never thought I'd see the day RC would lose. What a great time to be alive when these 2 raced. RC will always be the GOAT
Even i was tricked into thinking they hated each other back in the day. These guys loved each other. The two best riders ever, James with raw talent and Ricky with raw determination.
@@backwithabang5842 They shared the same mindset and where respected each other because of it. That respect was a way of them showing love to eachother
@@backwithabang5842 They 100% did. They they grew racing with each other at a young age. They were both on fox both on team green but never in the same class. James looked up to Ricky a lot.

As a lifetime motocross fan, and going to Hangtown nine years in a row. There is no doubt Carmichael is the G.O.A.T. James is the only racer that was able to keep him challenged. A 24 moto outdoor series, I don't think James would have ever beat him. He may have been close a couple times, but...
@@garrett3234 Not taking anything away from James on his 24-0 season but go back and look at who raced that series. Mike alessi was his toughest competitor.
@@seaeff6428 really doesn’t matter. I mean sure you can say if Reed or someone had been racing then he wouldn’t have won the title maybe. But if you win every single moto, not just overall, but moto. You were darn good. Because you went 24 individual races without bike issues, crashing out, picking a wrong line. There’s so many variables that go into a perfect season, a crash in practice during the week can ruin it for you. Or just having a moto where you’re a little off and get beat straight up. I don’t think anyone will match James and Ricky on this one. You gotta have a lot of talent, and a lot more luck to go 24-0.
@@racingfuel28 I never said he wasn't good. but let's put it this way the 9 guys that finished behind him in points won a total of 450 mx race combined. 1 win. between 9 guys over several years. Jeff alessi finished 6th in points. Come on. Yes definitely impressive but at the same time he was racing the B squad for sure. Racing the lites guys would've be harder. That was 100% the weakest 450 outdoor field ever. He had no Reed, Carmichael, even GL. Let's be real if RC stuck around he'd win that one as well.
Motorcycle racing was so much better with RC. Nobody worked harder to win. Plenty of riders with more natural talent, but they did not have the discipline to win like he did. He was like my Jack Russell Terrier. I could swing him around while his jaws gripped tight to a tennis ball and he would never let go. That was RC. Determination!
RC was at the peak when james moved up. Then as they rivaled james just got better. Kinda like when villapoto left , ryan dungey became good. I just wish we could have everyone race each other at their peak and see who actually is the goat.
squarebag73 amazing, you pretty much witnessed history bro. I'm 16 now, and growing up I never watched any motocross races, like honestly I feel like I missed out on so much; great rivalries, legends of the sport in their prime, nostalgia n all. Oh well :(
RC was fortunate, RJ got landed on and it ruined his career. RC deserved a phone call. I like how RC talks candidly, same with some other races like JM my favorite.
People do not know this...but James was not a very good athlete....and he did not train 1/2 as much as RC did. Aldon Baker and others who put James through real physiological testing have confirmed this. He was pretty average athletically. But James had such a perfect style that minimized physical expenditure of energy. That is why he moved around so much on the bike. He had to, because he was really not that fit, and not as good or well trained an athlete as his competitors. Technically probably the one of the best ever, and he certainly changed how people rode motorcycles.....much as Jeremy did.
I love the goat he’s awsome even now when he throws a leg over a bike he’s a couple tenths off the top dogs he’s the goat no doubt about it Tom Brady the goat no way rc is the real and only goat no Anderson silver rc is the winner of the goat title
You do realize that pretty much each sport has it’s own G.O.A.T right? NBA has Michael Jordan, NFL has Brady, Golf would be Tiger I guess. Only thing is that everyone in motocross has pretty much always agreed the RC is the G.O.A.T. Other sports change like every two years, I think now NBA is calling Kobe or Lebron or whoever the G.O.A.T. but idk. Pick one dude and stay with it. Brady definitely got the NFL after winning a Super Bowl at like 46😂
Ricky thought JS was being careless, but then realized it was just a racing incident. No one's fault. Those two dudes never once intended to take each other out.
Yeah he didn't anticipate you, RC, taking the slowest line in the world. Nobody in their right mind plans to take someone out at 50mph 20 feet in the air. Not a chance.
as a motocross fan i truly feel blessed to have witnessed carmicheal and stewart going head to head. ( or in this case nose to tail!!)
Such a great rivalry, miss those days.

100%
I've been watching motocross and supercross for 30 years now and to this day their battles are at the top of my list, particularly in the outdoors.
Aughts were amazing years to watch
HIM AND JAMES THE BEST THE SPORT HAS EVER SEEN
I would put McGrath up there as well..... and also Reedy..... and as a hardcore JS7 fan i can't deny what Villopoto did.
Villopoto had more competition to contend with, he even beat RC on the same track with a smaller bike....
Sure, if you leave McGrath out!
McGrath
No one had more HEART than this guy... and that is what we love him!

RC's mom had a LOT to do with this. She was the taskmaster.
This interview actually a race fan? He mentions the races and years but then says “downhill jumpy thing”....idk lol
Fat test: Carmichael vs Stuart

Carmichael is a stud on and off the track!!!

THE GOAT!
James as usuel v fast but out of control, never was as good as the GOAT.
Never? He beat RC heads up many many many times....
I remember my Bubba Stewart Pro Forma boots. Everything Fox Racing.
still won the OA

To be fair, James was NOT unconscious...
Even though I'm a fan of Bubba, that crash is totally bubba's fault.

Ricky needed to get out of the way because the faster rider was coming .
2 lines crossing and james was going faster
Yeah he just got passed but was going faster.
Rc gets uglier I didn't think that was possible
