The best Reed/Stewart motocross rivalry moment I remember was when James was leading, slowed down, allowed Reed to pass him and take the lead, then two laps later James blows by him. That weekend apparently Reed said he could beat James if he could get better starts. So James gets the holeshot, leaves everyone, then slows down to give Reed a chance to prove his theory. I had never seen anything like that before. James Stewart the best MXer I have ever seen. And I started following it in the Hannah days.
I dont care what anyone says James rode with more tenacity, heart and sheer balls than anyone ever has since, including Ricky! Thank you James for your dedication to the sport that we all love and giving us the inspiration to keep on BRAAAAAPing! Your the best bro!
100% agree. I use to wish james in his prime could've raced villipoto. I hated seeing him always beating james when james was on the downhill side of his career.
I'm with you. I was always a Ricky fan as a kid because I was a short chubby red-headed kid too like he was. That's what I liked about Moto so much and what other people said, your body-type in Moto doesn't really matter all that much, you got dudes who are massively tall and little stocky guys like Ricky and the Martin brothers. You weren't immediately recused from playing because you're 5'7" like it was when I played basketball. To be good at basketball and football you had to be a certain build before you even put on the gear. Moto wasn't like that, anyone could do it and do it well if you were willing to put in the work.
@@LawJones413 yes he brought out peak stewart, but we’re talking about like fights on track and even off sometimes lol. Ricky and him had a pretty tame relationship, they only came together a couple times in comparison to Reed v. Stew hahha. But yeah i agree Ricky brought out everything in Stew and Stew was really his fastest when racing ricky.
Put the whole video up somewhere!! I could literally watch an hour of this like a TV show. Spotify just isn’t the same when you’re laying in bed in the dark lol
That’s so funny that Daniel told that story. Cause that’s exactly what he told me one time when we were just sitting in his shop in Lodi. He said he beat James Stewart and he retired on a high note! Used to sit in his shop for hours and just BS about racing! He has some great stories! The one about RC and the US open is still my favorite! Next time you run into Blair ask him about the US Open back at the MGM riders meeting and RC and his potty mouth going off the year after they lowered him from the ceiling the year before and he got boo’d
I met his brother a couple years ago at a mutual buddies wedding. Those Blair brothers are sick. I remember them owning the San Jose fairgrounds back in the day rocking the stupid ass LBZ jerseys 😂 legends in the Bay Area for sure
Idk if you'd get James and Ricky in the booth together but I do like Ricky's insight also. Daniel Blair is the man though. He knows so much, he's easy to listen to, he's been there, he speaks well, he asks good questions. I don't dislike when they have guys like Leigh Diffy and other "Professional Commentators," the fact is they're good at their jobs, but Moto being a sport where every fan is an absolute die-hard, it's good to have the guys in there who have lived it.
Man it’s great to just listen to Bubba talk it out. Always had great respect for him since his amateur days, but we never really got to know him for him just the racer that we expected to win every time he fired up a dirt bike. Finally get to see him be himself, that MTV crap didn’t count. Haha
As in Arizonan & fan of *Chad Reed* he's NEVER won here. At the *Tempe Sun Devil Stadium,* at the *Phoenix Bank One Ballpark Stadium* or the *Glendale State Farm Stadium*
(Several could have would have should have possible wins) In 2017 he got a bad start but the loudest I've ever heard the audience when he passed *Dungey* for 2nd. He was throwing down faster lap times than *Eli* but he got the start & *Reed* just ran out of laps
It's during the Stewart vs Reed battles that the world discovered how agressive Reed really was and how he would do anything to stop Stewart by just taking him down and sometimes injuring him. I loved when Reed was just riding like a genius but i also stopped counting how many times Reed took down Stewart because he just couldn't beat him with speed. I also remember how clean Stewart rode all these years despite the hate from Reed. RC accepted the fact he couldn't beat Stewart with speed so he rode the smartest he could and it worked, Reed was too agressive too many times against Stewart despite all his talent.
i feel like anderson was trying to do the same to tomac like reed did js7 ...apparently thats who he was trying to take out over the weekend instead of malcolm
Reed rode aggressive, and at times was dirty. Don't pretend that stewart wasn't ever dirty. That's horse shit. Reed was also very fast when he took over Carmichael's Suzuki for a year. It's too bad that both of them injured each other that year, because it looked like Reed actually had more speed that Stewart in a few races.
PS if James Stewart came into my trailer and "karate chopped" my bike over, I would feel blessed and any damage it caused I'd be like "that's from Bubba kicking it over 😍". I'd never wash it again or attempt to fix it.. 🤣
Hey James, I'm a Physical Therapist who also grew up riding/racing and still ride to this day. Love the channel. Recently started my own. I would be honored to do some type of collaboration discussing some of your old injuries and recent injuries for these guys racing now.
It was so awesome watching James and Chad race I'm an ozzie and a massive Reed fan but also a massive James fan too yeah James your brother is going absolutely awesome I can't wait for him to win a main he's so close and we ozzies would love him to come to Australia the ozzie fans love him he's very welcome here he would pack out the stadiums . Oh yeah bubba your welcome big time also .
should start a fundraiser for your little bro and all the money he lost doing what we all wanted him to do...taking out the A-hole. Bravo-Mookie!!! the man.
Yeah James I have one of your old side plates number seven from your 06 KX450 I also have Michael Burns practice bike from that year when he was your teammate number 26 my bike says Kawasaki racing team right on the side of the motor
I have a question on deegan! Why did he have the number 1 plate on for the last Ironman Mx? Lawrence is technically still the number one lights rider! I have never seen this!! How did this happen?? Anyone??
James, it would be cool if you linked up with Damon and took on some downhill mountain biking trails with him. You'll love throwing those whips on a mtb =) Cheers legend.
wow....clearly i haven't been paying much attention to James latley cause when i seen this thumbnail on my home screen and read the title i thought it was Malcom and gonna say he went into Andersons rig and kicked his bike over then as soon as he started talking i was just like "HOLY SHIT"

If *Stewart* is talking *2010* with *Reed* on the *Kawi* had mono that year & only race the first few races. *Stew* getting hurt & *Reed* being sick set up the scenario for *Dungey* to win championship his rookie year
I hated Stewart because despite his greatness, he was dirty too. Nobody every called him on his crap. Reed was aggressive and dirty, but Stewart wasn't a saint.
It's ok James I never liked Chad either 😂😂🤣🤣. In all seriousness though, I didn't like how Chad acted like he was god's gift to motorcycle racing. He was the 3rd best guy, it was Ricky and James battling in the hayday, then it was James battling with RV and RD after that, Chad was struggling. I just didn't like how arrogant he was with nothing to back it up. It'd be like Jason Anderson being super cocky and arrogant, like what? Yeah you're a champion, but you're not even in the same zip code at Chase or Eli. That's how I took it and the guy always rubbed me the wrong way.
3:50 If you are ahead of bubba in the race and tryin to catch you he fells then yes you beat him.. but if bubba is ahead fells do not finish the race and then you pass him Sorry man you never beat bubba not like that.

Carmichael himself has stated James was a faster rider and pushed him way past his comfort zone.
This is why I love having Stew back! Can’t get this type of stuff from anyone else!

Idk if a modern day rivalry will even be better than Stewart and Reed, it’s what got me into the sport and I have great respect for both of them.

I personally don't qualify Reed as Stewart's rival. Carmichael brought the best out of Stewart. Issa Florida Thang.
