They are writing a $16M check, they are going to get a return on their investment or they are going to stop writing checks. Bottom Line ! And if they get that through wins, or media interests with the added Danica story, they don't care. Just as long as they see that they are getting what they want and they are getting it the best way possible. It just can't be connected with something bad like drugs, the cops, or someone getting killed on the track. Listen to the little hints that Dale and Ricky are saying here. The hints are anytime they mention the word "Monster". It's the title sponsor... the ones writing the checks. They really own the team. Without the sponsors, the teams don't exist and they close their doors. I have worked with teams with no sponsors and they fund their racing efforts out of their own pockets. It doesn't last very long. I can clock it with an egg timer. Now, they like the occasional bump, fight, crash. Why? IT makes it fun for the sponsors gusts at the track. Ricky Carmichael is the man. My 1st love is motorcross. Was able to stay at same hotel where his driver of his truck was staying in Tallahassee. He let me see his truck. I was hauling oversize/overweight loads. Dale Jr my favorite Nascar driver. Love the podcasts. Great interview. Carmichael a great ambassador for racing. His driver was telling me about his place in Tallahassee. Would love to see interview and see his motorcycles and tracks he has.
I can't believe it took me this long to start listening. My dad raised me on racing, watching Ricky and James Stewart, Chad Reed, Travis. And then nascar in the late 90's/early 2000's, as well as formula 1 when Michael Schumacher was running the sport. This podcast is fantastic, and I'd argue is done well enough that if you are a fan of a guest, but not dale/nascar, it's still plenty good enough to listen. Favorite pod right now

Glad my man RC finally told this story, long over due. He got a raw deal but was classy and never aired out the dirty laundry for the better of the sport. Just wished he had a better chance in a better economy. He was never the focus on any of his NASCAR teams. I wish they had focused more on who he really is in the motto world. He is the Dale Sr./Richard Petty of the motto/supercross world. But RC was very humble during the NASCAR years. He didn't come in expecting it to be handed to him because of his motorcycle accomplishments. I was working for RC during these years and it was the best 4 years of my life. Glad Jr. had him.on the show. RC is the original GOAT and always will be.
Ricky Carmichael is my favorite all time motocross racer. I first met him in 97' at Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan then 97' thru 04' at Kenworthy's Pro National weekend every third week of July and finally when I last met him was at 2007 Red Bud Pro National weekend & I got to see him for a NASCAR trucks I believe it was 2009 or it could have been 2011 race NASCAR trucks at Michigan Motor Speedway! Ricky is a good guy and greatest motocross of all time. Ricky's question to Dale spot on answer by jr. So best teams to be able drive and win right away. May have been bad situation for Ricky . But hey we have the humble Busch brothers still. Doctor Jerry punch class act. So much respect for the doctor.
Ricky is one cool cat. GOAT of Supercross no doubt. But here’s the deal, “If you don’t ask, you don’t get”… that dude should have swallowed his pride and ask around the block, let those guys know, you’re getting a handle on this and you want to drive… and let them know, “Hey the Busch’s we’re giving me real consideration”… Don’t say, “hey that’s just not me”. Pound the pavement, go hit up all those race teams. In fact, Ricky is fit and young enough, he could still get out there and run today! Maybe Dale asked those questions near the end of that interview, to feel him out, and make some calls, and get some intros for him. I’d LOVE to see Ricky get back out there and get a few full seasons under his belt!!
Unfortunately that’s not how it fully works. If that was the case there wouldn’t be as many rich kid drivers anymore or guys who are related to team owners or team board members.
Fans, etc. under estimate how much seat time is required to really develop a feel for driving a race car (ie...for what the tires are doing). There are racers, for instance Senna in formula cars...that people ooh and aahh over. "Oh...he is SO TALENTED". Well Senna had over 400 starts in kart racing. FOUR HUNDRED. That is just races. And he probably spent 10x that practicing and testing. He literally spent YEARS of time in a kart/car actually driving, and learning to develop a feel for what the tires were doing. Ricky did the same on dirt bikes. I laughed when everyone said RC was going to go Cup racing. Never happen I said. He is too far behind the curve and can never ever catch up. It was just as absurd as someone retiring from Cup and saying they were going to race pro Supercross. It looks so simple..just turn the wheel. Hit the gas. Step on the brakes. But each tire contact patch is doing a dance, and you have to learn to dance with them....using the seat of your pants and the palms of your hands. Sure, RC is very talented. He has the mental focus and obsession. But he used that talent and obsession learning to ride dirt bikes. You can not just jump in and put for tires on pavement and have a real feel. There is just no substitute for seat time. Stock cars are extremely hard to drive. Over weight and under-tired, and they handle differently on every corner. Ricky put in about 5% of the seat time he needed to. Unless he committed to driving and testing every day in complimentary step ladder series for years...there was no way he was ever going to compete at the top level. This is by no means a knock on Ricky. He himself probably knew he never had a chance...but as long as other people were paying him to race...and believed in him, who can blame him. Racing is fun...and a roll cage is a lot safer than a nylon jersey.
Ricky didn’t need to race four wheels anyways after earning the title of “ The GOAT “ on two wheels in motocross/ supercross , because he is the greatest ever 🏁🇺🇸🏁🇺🇸

You don’t earn the name GOAT for no reason, he’s a special person on and off the track, he deserved that kbm ride. It would be nice to see him in a SRX car this summer , you can still see the fire in his eyes he wants to drive again , he deserves a ride in whatever series he decides he wants to try. He’s been 100% brand loyal for decades, they should repay the favor to ricky and sponsee a ride for him out of respect
we were racing with Ricky yesterday at Vegas in iracing xfinity open ...most of the guys including me was like wow !!! we got Ricky with us tonight!! you should come a bit more when its possible :)
He didnt quit but more like gave up. However at 42yrs of age Ricky just needs a better manager to get him on a team and start racing. Motorcross is too physical but someone should put him in a Xfinity car (hint hint Dale Jr).
Carmichael just has the mind of a motorsports racing champion. Had he kept going and gotten more time and the right opportunity,...I think he would have made it in Nascar Cup and been a winner.
I've never been into car and truck racing. However I loved watching Ricky race moto cross and would have liked to have seen him on a top tier road race team.
Hahha ..were trying to get spencerboydnascar to bring the car that Mikey drove..that's a Through back...and Under the Constriction. Knowbody has ever had the paint that Kenny Irwin....Long live USAC.❤👍🏁
Are motocross guys the best racers? Probably not, considering how athletic(and therefore young) they have to be, but it seems like mx is the most technical and busiest kind of racing there is. Or to put it another way, an mx guy could probably learn to do a lap in f1 or superbike before either of them could survive a tripple.
OMG... them talking about Kurt adding the video snippet was SOOOOOO funny!!! I didn't become a fan until 2019, so I missed the "Bad-A$$ Attitude Kurt Busch" years! So funny to see and hear how bad he was from the "experts" on who behaved how! Loved that section!
God I'd have loved to see all the action sports guys race each other. Carmichael, Brian Deegan, Pastrana, & Lasek. Would be so cool to see them go against each other. Would love to see Travis on the podcast as well. He seemed so determined to be in NASCAR, but ultimately things just weren't well pieced together.
RC is not a wheel man plain and simple and he tells you that fact. Has nothing to do with anything else. ie. He is admitting he was in way over his head and you have to respect that man for coming out and stating that fact.
@@slimbrady6691 Okay, thats probably correct. But I'm saying RC earned his name recognition, whereas Jr had it before he ever got behind the wheel, and he never lived up to the hype of his name. I'd also add that within their respective sports, RC is a bigger name. He's the GOAT, where Jr. was a somewhat mediocre race car driver.

If he got on a top team the entire motocross community would be tuning in
Man, that sucks for Ricky. Just shows how difficult getting a ride in NASCAR can be and unfortunately how unfair as well.
we were racing with Ricky yesterday at Vegas in iracing xfinity open ...most of the guys including me was like wow !!! we got Ricky with us tonight!! you should come a bit more when its possible :)
Dale really brings out Ricky’s southern drawl
Hands down GOAT of Moto Cross…which in my opinion tops Super Cross!
NASCAR is a different entity all together, totally corporate
He didnt quit but more like gave up. However at 42yrs of age Ricky just needs a better manager to get him on a team and start racing. Motorcross is too physical but someone should put him in a Xfinity car (hint hint Dale Jr).
42 years old and hasn't raced in years = done.
I wish he wanted to hustle hard to get into a car. Everyone would cheer on the goat!!
Carmichael just has the mind of a motorsports racing champion. Had he kept going and gotten more time and the right opportunity,...I think he would have made it in Nascar Cup and been a winner.
Great interview fellas 🙏
Ricky would of been such a great add to current nascar
Great interview 👍👍🇺🇸🏁
I've never been into car and truck racing. However I loved watching Ricky race moto cross and would have liked to have seen him on a top tier road race team.
What I get out of this is that he was more or less pushed out
What a class act! Too bad he didn't get to see if he could make it to the next level!
Great show! Cant wait for the next one. Great stories
Ricky is such a super nice guy!
Great guy...great interview as usual.
I remember the truck races he ran #4
Hahha ..were trying to get spencerboydnascar to bring the car that Mikey drove..that's a Through back...and Under the Constriction. Knowbody has ever had the paint that Kenny Irwin....Long live USAC.❤👍🏁
Are motocross guys the best racers?
Probably not, considering how athletic(and therefore young) they have to be, but it seems like mx is the most technical and busiest kind of racing there is.
Or to put it another way, an mx guy could probably learn to do a lap in f1 or superbike before either of them could survive a tripple.
I still have a dunlop poster hanging in the garage of ricky on a cr 250 " my motto - ride 110% every lap"
Where’s his heart on his sleeve much respect
He was great in moto ‘s . I wished he’d gotten more opportunities in nascar.
G.O.A.T.
Great conversation 👌
OMG... them talking about Kurt adding the video snippet was SOOOOOO funny!!!
Would he be considered a "handle bar man" instead then
I always thought Ricky did great in the trucks he was running up front and got crashed out by no fault of his own several times.
Sounds like he ran into some salty race teams by doing too well then
After watching this i had no idea. I honestly thought it was cus he tore up so much stuff. Damn Busch brothers and their attitude haha
3 best riders ever,Carmichael, McGrath, and Johnson
Ricky Carmichael is the very best in his sport !!!
2 freakin LEGENDS in their sport right here, it doesn't get much better.
No disrespect to Jr, but RC is a bigger name with more wins than Jr ever was in nascar. One got to legend status on talent, one on a name.
@@SEILLC RC was much more successful in his respective sport than Junior was in his, but he absolutely is not a bigger name than Junior.
@@SEILLC RC is not a bigger name within his sport or outside his sport than Junior is.
Sign him to be a relief driver and give him a chance
