40th Anniversary Fender Squiers -- 2022 First Look
Вставка

- in 1982, facing competition from cheaper imports of the day, Fender repurposed the Squier brand which had originally been a string manufacturer into the budget conscious line of the Fender family. This week Fender introduced some special models to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Squier introduction. In this video, I take a quick look at the 40th anniversary Strats and Teles and compare them to some current Squier offerings. Thanks for watching!

I purchased a 50's Classic Vibe in Blonde last year. Yes, you can see the wood grain through the finish. It almost looks like one light coat of paint was applied. I really like the finish though. I had to get that one.
Thanks for posting, the Classic Vibes are great guitars!
Thank you for that great review!!! Love the gold edition, especially the red one. Very unique, I think!
Thanks for checking the video out. Yeah these are all really nice looking guitars!
Been a huge Squier fan for years. My son and I have owned several the past 7 or 8 years especially. Mostly the Classic Vibe Series and The old Squier Standard Stratocaster and Telecaster model which I think they should still be offering...those Standard guitars are seriously good stuff. As for the question, I'm with you on the price. I think I'll opt to hopefully get one 2nd hand on down the road. The Stratocaster models interest me, think the Sienna Burst and the dark red are probably beautiful guitars in person.
Thanks for the comment Steve. I agree about those colors and especially the ruby red! I've got a Classic Vibe P bass and a mini Strat and they are both really good guitars. I wish I still has that 80s Japanese Squier Jazz Bass.
@@hoganshideout that's awesome and I am actually not familiar with that particular bass model but I'll look into it. I have held and played a few Japanese Fender Strats and they were very nice and had their own feel and vibe about them. One of the Strats was a red, I believe the gentleman told me it was Cardinal possibly? We have modded and added upgrades to several of the Squier products and they are exceptional with a few additions. I had the old Vintage Modified 70s Strat with the old Duncan Design Pickups in it and that is the best Stratocaster I've ever owned.. they are all 70s Classic Vibe nowadays. I put full size CTS pots.2 Orange Drop caps and tied the bridge tone in.. Wilkinson Pickups and found high end saddles for cheap..a few other things as well. Was a cool guitar as it was but it was totally mine after that. Take care and I'll keep checking in for new videos.
@@stevepotter7448 Thanks for posting Steve and thanks for the support! I set up a Classic Vibe 60s Strat several years ago for a friend and we were both super impressed with how good that guitar was/is. Even stock they are great guitars, but with the upgrades you made even better! By the way, this is just like my Squier bass from 1986: reverb.com/item/43248420-used-1987-fender-squire-e-series-jazz-bass-mij-black?show_sold=true Wish I still had mine.
@@hoganshideout ain't that the way it goes! So many I've traded or sold off that I wish I still had. Thank you for the link I'll be checking that out. You're very welcome for the support and I really enjoyed the video. I'm always ready to discuss Squier and Fender lol
Take care
Steve O
Great review! Thanks for exhaustively comparing all of the details, and making me think twice about the new 40th Anniversary Stratocaster Squier; it doesn't seem worth the considerable difference in price. Only one thing puzzles me - why you kept saying that the difference in price is around $150. Last time I checked, $599.99 minus $459.99 equals exactly $140.00. Maybe my calculator needs an upgrade! Anyway, this comparison is greatly appreciated and valuable to anyone who needs to maximize a limited budget, in particular when shopping for a Squier Strat.
Thanks for checking the video out. The gold version is a better deal than the vintage version because that one does include blocks and binding. Yeah, I rough added the difference in my head, but you are correct the difference is 140.00. I guess if you add tax on that extra 140.00 it would likely be 150 or so total, through. Thanks for the comment.
From what I read online, the gold editions are worth the extra dough for the features it has
Good review. Kind of enticed by the satin finish particularly on the neck. I have a CV Tele in white and super guitar at a super price at the time new. If I were to pick holes, not really due at the price, the gloss neck is not winning anything for me although I get along fine with it once I stop focusing on it. The thin white coat does show through some pink look wood more than I would choose. The one other thing is the string spacing at the nut. I can work with it and not yet bothered adjusting but it is narrower, by a tad, than the Player (which in turn is the same as the 05 American Standard I have). I will get around to using the real estate (think same as Player) to widen a tad in due course but maybe a personal thing based on what I have gotten used to. I do like the wide saddle / bridge spacing on the CVs but overall I am struggling to go for the price on this series. The Tele seems to be saying using urethane on the body (softer material like American???)..................Whilst things have increased in price there is a limit and versus the Player series or usual line or maybe even just go to a cheaper brand??????? Wait and see but dubious given that "celebration price".
Thanks for the comment, James. I agree $600.00 is a lot for a Squier, but the way all prices are going up I guess it's not surprising. I really like this series, though, and I actually would like to have one of the Jazz Basses.
@@hoganshideout Fair comment. I guess I am always a tad wary of "celebratory" lines at an enhanced cost that do not overtly list enhancements versus the basic (already very good admittedly in this case). Nice comparison from you though. The vintage Tele line seems to be all urethane (so American Standard softer?? than poly), but the vintage Strat (looking last one out of the gate) I think just said neck ...........................Choices are fine but for the extra money over standard, I want some value upgrades or elsewhere is fine.......Cheers:)...I am really looking only at the vintage line of course.
@@jamesmgreen15 Hey James thanks for the comments and for checking the video out.
I think this is a good look, like u said about the burst its not what your used to seeing, I am a huge squire fan and every year they up their game, they are anything but boring. I think the mindset has to be squire and epiphone are their own brand now, I buy both because I prefer these brands with out comparing to the bigger names. Hats off to moving foward in their own direction, let fender be fender!!
Thanks for the comment, Frank. I really like Squier and Epiphone too. Both do a great job of offering high quality at reasonable prices.
I got it for 250 with a case because I traded my 2 cheap guitars I love it
I also got the ruby red with inlays which was well worth it sweet water had it on sale for 359
Very nice, enjoy the new guitar!
@@Elchurrodurro Nice, that is a sweet color combo!
@Hogan's Hideout yea I've been playing it and I love it
