I was already aware that this game was out of this world realistic, but this took it to an entirely different level. You all are very talented and never fail to impress me with every feature. I also love the fact that we have an option with this, it brings many advantages
I love the fact that you aren’t afraid to include death into the game. I recently have been reading a book about one of the Druid alphas, 21, and I find it so fitting and peaceful that he died of natural causes. A wolf’s life is definitely rough, (and WolfQuest has done a wonderful job demonstrating that) but being able to survive so long that you can grow old is strangely peaceful. Having your wolf die is a bittersweet end to an extraordinary game. ❤️🐺
I agree, and I like the idea of playing with all your wolf's pups and their pups' pups as they raise their own families, even after the wolf that started that family tree has passed away.
Seafoam21, I love that book! Have you read The Rise of Wolf 8? It’s also by Rick McIntyre, and he is coming out with another one to about wolf 302m. I’ve read them already, but I highly suggest if you want to get into wolf behavior.
@@wolfdog8617 Yes, Rise of Wolf 8 and Reign of Wolf 21 are actually some of the most recent books I’ve read. I’ve always had an interest in ecology, and McIntyre shows it so beautifully.
Oh my god you just made this game darker and sad. I actually really like it! Its like giving young and old players alike a healthy dose of reality. We're so used to the idea of characters in a game being invincible that we dont see ourselves in them. But watching this especially towards the end, it gave me such a melancholy realization. Truly nothing lasts forever. Not even video game wolves. This makes me feel like the connections I have with my wolves (in game) are all the more special. And I should take extra care for them. Not only with them, but with the people around me in real life. We often take so many things for granted, I know I have. I think we all need to learn to cherish things more because when we finaly lose them, we feel this guilt of wishing if we could've done something more. I think this is a really moving episode you guys done for both the heart and mind, Thank You
It's incredible how much detail goes into the game. The death, the fights, the hunting, the pups, how pups have different personalities, how unique and various different packs are. Your hard work isn't going unnoticed and is appreciated immensley.
Each play through of the game is unique the stats on your wolf, settings on the game, different personalities of wolves in the game, variables in hunting prey, variety of animals and much more that can happen in the game which makes every play or unique and fun.
Yeah it would be cool if they added traits of older wolves. You’re wolf having scars would make sense because they’ve been defending their territory from other wolves and fighting other animals for years so they will probably end up with permanent scars. Missing or broken teeth would be a cool detail. As cracking bones could cause some teeth to fall out over many years and a strong kick from an elk in the jaw could definitely break some teeth.
Can I just say I love the idea of aging? Thats amazing! Aging system!!! This is so unique and kinda like things with different stats. Can't Express how much I love this
Simba: “but dad don’t we eat the antelope?” Mufasa: “yes Simba but let me explain. When we die our bodies become the grass and the antelope eat the grass and so, we are all connected in the great circle of life.”
I'm not even kidding, I saw this notification and screamed out loud, THIS IS SO PAWSOME!!! Also, that music that was playing when he was talking about when your wolf will die was so sad! The melody of it was perfect, it fit the feeling and thoughts that the old wolf is going through. He is probably remembering his long life, all the litters he had, his wonderful mate(s), and how he felt as being a free and wild wolf in Yellowstone. I can't wait to get this new feature! It will definitely make the game way more realistic, emotional, and fun!
Will age affect your mate as well? Also it would be cool that when you die you get some info about how long your mate lived after you/how they died to if they didn't die before you
I love how realistic this game is becoming! It really give us the feeling of being a wild wolf, you guys are doing an amazing job but remember to rest and stay safe! ♡ ^^
@rome how can you say that these barebones roblox survival games, all of which aren't anywhere near finished, are better than an actual indie studio building a game with their own engine, stylized graphics and gameplay, countless more features?
Age perks: Me sweating as my mother explains she knew what I was doing as a kid, me thinking I was so intelligent that she didn’t know it was me, but let me get away with it take me feel smart O-Ou
I’m definitely gonna try it all. I’m staring to play on accurate instead of challenging, and it’s stressful! I already lost one wolf- (I’m usually rather reckless but I was actually trying because I loved the wolf as a pup.) and after they died I didn’t load another save- so I don’t think I’ll do iron wolf, just because I wanna keep my saves :”)
I’ve never been so excited. Now I can have Scraps have a death! Scraps is an older OC of mine that waschased out of his pack at a year old for his ways, always failing at impressing his parents when trying to do something new. He was chased out a year early and I want him to be wise :) HERE I COME PUPS, I’LL DEFEND YOU AGAINST SHADOW MINTZ
i know this would be very difficult to achieve, but will we get physical changes as we become older? for example the development of grey hairs around the face etc once you reach about 5 or 6? it would be amazing to have that physical representation of the wolf’s experience and knowledge, just little hints to set them aside from 2 and 3 year olds.
I really like this idea! If this were possible, it would be nice to be able to toggle the greying on-and-off for those that would prefer their wolves to still look young.
The Dark Overlord Dave did mention that upon hitting age 8, you lose some of your strength. So I assume it’s like, middle aged for a wolf. But since nature can be ruthless, it has no sympathy for even the slightest bit of aging.
This is such an amazing idea! I’m usually a big wuss and I get attached to my wolves pretty easily, but I’m definitely going to try and get to age eight with one of my wolves, the idea of living out a wolf’s natural lifetime is just so appealing to me. I love how realistic this game is getting, honestly there’s no other game that stimulates life itself as realistically as Wolf Quest.
same here! never really thought I'd want one of my wolves aging up, but the whole perk system looks so cool! the gameplay will be impacted in various ways depending on what you choose. can't wait!!!!
I appreciate how much care is put into the game and how many risks they’re willing to take. Like 7 x 7 km map, persistent animals like wolves and elk that never despond, complex wolf courtship behavior, large territory, how the elk herd behaves when hunting them, The weather and the environment changing over time, combat mechanics that are difficult to make look right, etc. beavers, iron wolf and age perks are just more great additions to the game.
@@caroline6218 definitely! it's been ~8 years since I play the game, and god, I'd never imagine something even close to what we have in the AE version back then. there's so many little things, so many details, and the team plans to add even more things... it's truly incredible.
This is actually so emotional, especially the end. I would love to live out my OC’s life to their full extent, developing my story and being able to play a new whole generation with a fresh start.
You guys made WQ into a DnD game and I am LIVING FOR IIITT. You guys do so much for this game and this community it constantly blows me away as both a fan and a developer myself. You guys should win a Best Indie Game and Dev Team Ever award or something.
I love how there is always a loyal 15k - 20k people who watch every single update. It’s really cool how this community is so positive and doesn’t get tired of the game and even if they’ve played it through multiple times before
I don't ever think I can accurately describe how thankful I am for y'all. When I was younger I stumbled upon wolfquest while it was still in beta. I absolutely love this game, and its came so far. You guys have truly made up such a large portion of my childhood.
Question: will you be able to see the grown up pups for multiplayer litters in a family tree? I would love if that could be added!! Your choice obv tho!!
Idk,all i know is that they will make another episod called Tower Fall where ur pups will be nearly as grown as you and they will hunt with you but idk if the age perks will affect that episode
@@Bonniethebunny actually,if you are a 2 y/o this means u got only one litter of pups but at 8 y/o u had multiple of them. And when Tower Fall will come and you are still with your first litter of pups you will still have 2 years i think. And if you want to start again you'll age up.But actually i think u will age 3 when ur first litter come but hope you understand what i meant to say.
I love this! One other idea that could maybe be implemented (since not all wolves die at 8) is you can say, live to 12.. but at 8 years old, you are automatically changed to iron wolf, that way, you may die at 8... or you may live to 9..10...11 or if you are lucky, 12. 12 would be the end of the line, but at least the death could be a little less predictable.
This game grew so much! I’m saving up for a gaming computer so I can actually play this game; one of the main reasons I got a job was so I can play this gorgeous game. I love looking at the growth of this project. Everyone is doing amazing and I’m so excited to play! Edit: I’m not sure if this was already implemented, already suggested, etc., but I have a suggestion. Maybe if this doesn’t take too much unnecessary time or if you guys have time for a little extra detail with all the other things you’re adding, you could add a setting people can turn on and off that makes it so wolves from other family trees have the chance of appearing in game? Say someone has a family tree already and they had a few pups. One of the pups’ name is Fern (pretend it’s already grown up). That person wants to start another family tree and keep the first one how it is. They start a new one with a wolf named Pablo (idfk I’m just giving them names to make the explanation clearer). Pablo, the character that the person is controlling, is old enough to get a mate and meets a few potential mates. A wolf named Fern shows up. Maybe that kind of thing could happen? And also, it would be cool if a wolf from one litter grew up and then found it’s grown up littermate with their pups and tries to kill the pups. But it’s just a suggestion I thought would be kinda neat.
It would get complicated, now that your adult pups are playable, to also include them as NPCs in other games. For example, if you play a game with Pablo they then have their own story arc - having pups, perhaps dying or growing old. So it might feel jarring to have them appear in a different game, generated as a young dispersal, toodling around as though your other story hadn't happened. But yes, it would be appealing to get to know the neighbors and you are correct that, in real life, you would run into family members, now and then.
@@WolfQuestGame True, but if they died, I think you could have them not show up. Like code it so wolves in the list of all the dead wolves wouldn’t show up? But you don’t have to include the suggestion! The game is already amazing and would still be without it! I do wonder though if having all this extra code for dead wolves, aged up wolves, etc. would be too complicated or would bug a lot
Yessss I almost forgot you might be posing today!!!! An amazing surprise!!! Edit: wow! You guys just keep shocking me with just how much depth and detail that you add with each update, the aging system seems really cool and will definitely add more realism to the game!
I'm glad you included this! I get far two emotionally attached to my wolves to get to a point where they would get old and die but I'm glad it's there for those who want it
I hope this helps make wolves more individual. Specific wolves have specific traits, some have strong memories, great knowledge, strong noses, etc. I usually don’t have wolves with multiple litters but this has motivated me to keep my wolves going on.. until the end.
I love this! But it does leave me with questions: If you die of old age, what happens to that year’s pups? Is it assumed that your mate raises them successfully? What about when Tower Fall releases? Are you locked out of continuing the story, or do you play as the mate with the potential to die a second time? What about dispersal mates that can be two whole years older than you at the start of a game? Will they age with you, and die when THEY turn 8, even though the player wolf is still only 6? This new feature adds so much complexity and intrigue to the game and oml I’m so excited 👀👏
As a girl who has been interested, and played wolfquest for like 6 years, im fine with the way you put the game anyways. When the 1.07 update comes out, I will feel like my wolf will spend their last days playing with his pups as they pass then they grow up. Its gonna make me tear when I do that
Well my aunt took care of a wolf pup who was named Sakari and as a matter of fact she loved hugs we had to give her away when she got older but it was fun to foster her when she was young, my aunt worked in a zoo that’s how we ended up with her
I honestly love this idea so much! Something I think would be neat if you could do it would be to make the wolf appear lighter the older they get! I work with a wolf who is currently 11 years old (and pregnant) and she is this GORGEOUS silvery-white with a darker undertone. When I first met her in 2012, she was jet black without a hint of any color. I think that would be a really cool age progression thing! Like maybe the lighter colors are locked until a certain age in a mode of the game, or your pelt automatically lightens (black variants turn grey and brown/grey variants turn white)
@@WolfQuestGame I understand! I figured that was the case! In any case, I am honestly so proud of the hard work everyone at WolfQuest has done on the game and this will probably always remain my favorite computer game 😊
imagine loading a world, seeing the "it's your birthday!" screen come up, deciding to become age 8, and then suddenly your wolf lies down on the ground -watching it's life slowly fade.. all the while you had no clue that a nice wolf game would do this to you. none of your saves work, all of your work is gone. (i think i gave myself a fear i didn't know i had, but i really enjoy the concept of being able to live the life of a wolf, not just an invincible one. a lot of game developers are scared to make games face reality as they don't want kids to lose their "imagination". honestly, i believe it would be more terrifying for somebody to have an "imagination" all the way until the age of 18, and then suddenly their parents expect them to be mature and get a job. growing up isn't a choice, and although video games can make things immortal, nothing lasts forever. those 3 words are something nobody wants to hear.)
The fact that I was JUST thinking about the birthday thing while playing a few weeks ago! Lol It dawned on me too that my wolf would be three in springtime for the Slough Creek episode and I wondered what it would be like to have a wolf in the game that would actually age. It’s like you read my mind!
I can't express how much I am so thankful and grateful for you guys. You have literally made my day. Beavers? Aging system? FREAKIN' ADORABLE WOLF PUPS??? I love WolfQuest AE with all my heart and you're STILL making it better. I just cannot believe all the work that goes into this game. Thank you so much, WolfQuest devs, from the bottom of my heart.
This system will be interesting when it comes out, but I teared up at the eight year old wolf watching out the rest of their days, even if it's just a game it helped me find out so much about wolves and the game helped me find out that I want to work at Yellowstone when I get older.
this game was my entire childhood, and when I bought this game again at 18, the second i heard the opening music i just started bawling my eyes out. it was so insanely nostalgic and i was so overwhelmely happy. i remember being young and wishing for all of this stuff to happen!!! thank you so much for this game and the impact it had on so many lives !!!
I love that you chose to include ageing. It’s bittersweet, but to include that your wolf will die from old age makes the game so much alive, and we will experience another part of a wolf’s life. Seeing the pups of a passed away wolf to continue their bloodline even if they aren’t there is such a real and beautiful feature. No matter what you do with the game, it turns out to be more incredible than we ever thought was possible❤️🐺✨
THE BEAR RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND AT THE END OF THE GAME XD I love how your not afraid to include death itself into the game I'm exited for this- the fact I have my own story with one of my pups going on- I question how it will go with Age perks It was so sad when the wolf died lying there watching its own life wash away...I teared up a bit I know its a game but still.... this game feels just so real! I love the work so far on the game I'm planing on asking for a book about the YellowStone wolves- I'm actually watching it documentary on UA-cam for time to time and I love how many relations you've added to the game Having your wolf die is a bittersweet end to an extraordinary game
This is so extraordinary This game has truly become the best wildlife simulator in the world and I doubt it will ever be surpassed. Also, I am going to confess that I started to cry just to imagine when my favorite wolf dies of age, imagine how I am going to get when it passes ;-;
This is so cool, I have always loved the idea of aging and growing with your pups. I hope this means we'll be able to have an adult pack some day with little pups and adolescents as well! I really love this feature.
So let’s say If you find a mate that is four years old. One day you will be wondering why your mates icon on the map is not moving and go over to find them laying on the ground lifeless. That’s so morbid and sad.
@@WolfQuestGame so we will die together then? So sad i love it. 😪 Imagine: u and you're mate laying in the grass under a northern light or dawn, dying happy
@@WolfQuestGame I have another question, how will this affect multiplayer? It would be really interesting to have diverse perks across the board, but I would understand if having eight players with different perks makes multiplayer too complicated and only the host's perks stayed in affect.
Wow. I remember playing this on pc when I was nine or ten, I think? I’m eighteen now. Seeing the crew still working hard on this brilliant game is incredible.
I really love how you give us a choice. Some want to play with one wolf that's forever young as they cant handle death of something they worked with for so long. And some ppl want to feel the realism aspect of the game and this will help a lot. Great planning
Wow, just Wow!! i cant wait till this is out! what a great unannounced feature!! I Always wanted a age system and here is my wish! Great job as always with making the game great!!!
I haven't played this game in about a year or more. this game is special to me though, so I got off of my hiatus and checked its status on Steam. I'm happy to see anniversary edition updated so much! I might get back into it, starting with binging these videos. these videos were always so fun to watch, I like the narrator's voice
Thank you for all the shout outs that you give to WolfQuest lovers. It is really helped full and when I have played it I have never seen a better game! The pups that you have created are adorable. I love the graphics. One year from now I was looking for a game about animals and then this game popped up! I was searching the whole day to find the page where you could buy it and it was the perfect game!!! I started to play it right away and found it quite amazing and cool. Also can’t wait for beavers! Also when I went to the settings I didn’t know you could put FUR on your wolf, this blew my brain! It is pretty neat to have some type of game like this and now seeing this being put into the game makes me think about what game could this end up turning into! I have five pups that are cuties. Also I had a white pup and then when I tried to play as it when it was grown up it was black? Why did this happen? Just curious about anything, I hope it’s not a bug but anyway love this game
Thanks so much! If you think it is a bug and see it again, send us an F11 report so we can take a look. The coat genetics can sometimes make some surprising matches though.
I love how you really stay true to the realism of an actual wolves life. A lot of games get cheesy when it comes to this stuff. But i looooove these ideas. Keep up the stupendous work!!!
I absolutely loved the music at the end. It honestly gave me this incredible underlying feeling of sadness knowing that the end is coming, even if I don't want it to be. I'm a big sucker for guitar, won't lie. Are you going to release the new WolfQuest OSTs anytime on the channel? It'd be awesome to have them in the background while just doing anything.
Not gonna lie, that's an awesome idea! It looks so sad, but you can say that in the end, you won. You won something. And what? A life of a wolf. This life means a lot.
Lots of children. That's what my wolves are going to have won at the end of raising so many litters that they reach age eight. And then the family tree goes on.
Love it! I love the idea for a hardcore mode. Have you guys had the thought of possibly adding the option for bobbed tails and/or shorter tails for wolves? I have seen videos of Wolves in Yellowstone and some wolves have had tails ruined/broken and bitten off from rival packs and subodinate problems, I think that would be awesome to have maybe some more customization that way. Also have you guys thought of possibly having bears eat from the rivers with fish and leaving some fish scraps? Those scraps could be picked up by wolves traveling along the river as an easy meal since wolves aren't known to hunt fish in Yellowstone and it could be a rare encounter. ^-^ Just an idea and question!
You might find a fish that was dropped by an eagle (or you can pretend by another animal). We would love to add more customizations in the future. Tail injuries would be an interesting option.
So let me clarify something. Our birthday is triggered at the start of every Slough Creek game which we start with the same wolf and same mate? As in, the more we play with the same couples, the more we get to age our wolf? If that's the case, this is beyond amazing! I mean it already is in itself, but it will give us even more reason to have multiple litters with the same pair. :D This is even more than what I was hoping for! In fact, this is exactly the kind of thing I had in mind when wishing for some kind of "progression" in the game, despite the pups not growing up completely yet. This is a fantastic way to give more role play to players! Very creative! :D
Oh wow this is so Interesting, I was expecting just to boring old exp system again and this went beyond my expectations (like most of WolfQuest 3 :D)! My main wolves Moonsong and Irma will probably stay 2 or 3 years old forever, since the story I wrote that features those two ends with them at that age XD
I absolutely love this feature ! ! I never even thought of something like this being added to the game ! you really think of everything haha, thank you for putting so much thought into this ever since the start
The perk of having pups stay in the den would be a LIFE SAVER! Today stranger wolves attacked the den and as my wolf crawls out two of three pups tumble out with him. Two go into the den again but the other one just STARTED WANDERING AWAY AND I’M FREAKING OUT TRYING TO WOOF HIM BACK INTO THE DEN! Luckily Sunfalls mate beat up one of the Junction Butte Pack Wolves and the other one didn’t manage to catch Sunset II. Sun fall then chased them off, shoved Sunset into the den, tracked down the wolves and gave them a few lessons.......he’s probably gonna want to move dens too since he is a nervous and adventurous wolf and especially after what happened, one pup wandering away, and then another almost being killed by stranger wolves.
I like the perks route. It feels like it brought something to the game it was missing. I may not advance every wolf to age 8 but definitely will do several of them over time (save a few for multiplayer). Looking forward to the future of this game ^^
Just when I’m thinking this game can’t possibly get any better y’all outdid yourselves!! I’m so excited for this update and so many more to come. Keep up the fantastic work! 🧡🧡
I can’t wait to have this in towerfall being an old leader looking apon the pack and when I die one of my pups will continue as alpha! I also hope when I die I can play as my pup, find a mate and continue the pack, with my siblings protecting me while my mate have the next generation!
You definitely can play as your adult pup. Just go to a wolf that has completed slough creek and go to their family tree, then select a pup and press 'play as wolf'. Then, you have your adult pup, defined by genetics, in My Wolves, ready to play as and raise pups. But the siblings aren't there, and probably won't ever be. You can't really have any other adult members in your pack, except for your mate.
I definitely wanna do it..I think in the end were the wolf gets older it will show how much you bonded with it and knowing it can pass away gives u memories of that wolf and the "life" u gave it. It also gives a challenge
Omg- That seen's so awesome, ahh the first wolf that u create, seeing Nether age up like that makes me so proud of him idk why.... it's shorta feels like it's going to be a peaceful yet tragic. Honestly, i'm really happy to see how much yall try to do a realistic game, looking back at the old game and see how much this game improved makes me so glad. It's the first game that i actually spend money with it because this one really deserves to won more fans. Edit: I'm sorry if i wrote something wrong or the bad grammar ;w;, i'm brazillian and learn english in this quarantine had proved to be more challenging than i thought.
WOW!!!!!! I can't wait to try this out!!! I LOVE the game and really do appreciate how much work and time you guys sacrifice for this!!! Means the world!!!!😍😍🐺
I like the way you did the age system the perks will be so fun even though the fact that your wolf will die is sad it will make the game so much more realistic!
there should be a cut scene when your dying like your wolf automatically starts slowing down and “limping” until it lays down and if it’s around wolfs they will come over and comfort you or maybe whine or if you are alone you just lay there for a few until you get the you have died messages
This is awesome, I'm so excited! I do wonder, will there be subtle differences to your wolf as you age? I don't know if it happens at 6-8 years, but it might be cool to see gray fur around the eyes and muzzle as you get to your elder years. Just a thought :3
I love the age concept idea I mean I already started a siblings series I plan to retire them of age when they reach 20 generations of pups before I let them go and have the pups they had continue the heir of generations so I think it is a good idea even if it's hard to let them go because I know it will be for me xD
I know this most likely wouldnt happen but what about a mode where we start as pups and grow into a adult or like when you sleep you can have a memory of when you were a pup (either learning to hunt/swiming or sleeping/eating with your family)

It will definitely make the game way more realistic, emotional, and fun!
Same!! I wanted to cry TwT
It kind of reminds me of the ending of Watership Down.
Agreed, this feature will be sad, but cool
@@DxC-95 oh, true!
woah so many people screamed THIS IS SO PAWSOME
Will age affect your mate as well? Also it would be cool that when you die you get some info about how long your mate lived after you/how they died to if they didn't die before you
I love how realistic this game is becoming! It really give us the feeling of being a wild wolf, you guys are doing an amazing job but remember to rest and stay safe! ♡ ^^
Yeah and that's why it's the best game
@lozlaf if not the best then one of the best
@lozlaf based on graphics and how much it's being worked on then its probably the best in a few properties
@rome how can you say that these barebones roblox survival games, all of which aren't anywhere near finished, are better than an actual indie studio building a game with their own engine, stylized graphics and gameplay, countless more features?
I really like the music that plays when you're eight.
Honestly WolfQuest has some of the best music of any game.
Age perks: Me sweating as my mother explains she knew what I was doing as a kid, me thinking I was so intelligent that she didn’t know it was me, but let me get away with it take me feel smart O-Ou
?
Awwww, that's kinda cute though!
I almost had a stroke reading this 💀

Me: *vibrates in happiness*
I feel sick when thay post im sooooooOOOO happy and exited
Ironwolf + mate permadeath + aging + accurate.... true hardcore. Can’t wait to totally fail at surviving!!
Same xD
I’ll be right there with ya!! :)
I’mma try it to!
Don't forget accurate difficulty!
@@adrienneruetz5532 That’s fair, too
The Dark Overlord Dave did mention that upon hitting age 8, you lose some of your strength. So I assume it’s like, middle aged for a wolf. But since nature can be ruthless, it has no sympathy for even the slightest bit of aging.
@@adrienneruetz5532 I guess it could be made an overlay/or layer on top of the coat? Kind of like elderly pets in Sims 3 Pets 🤔
We would love to have appearance change with age, but it's technically and aesthetically daunting. But maybe someday...
I'm not first
Im not last
But when Wolfquest uploads

You nailed it!!

@@iwatchyousleep2311 i'm sure they will.
Hard to believe it's been 2 years since this came out...amazing! I have always loved this game and always will.
But it does leave me with questions:
If you die of old age, what happens to that year’s pups? Is it assumed that your mate raises them successfully? What about when Tower Fall releases? Are you locked out of continuing the story, or do you play as the mate with the potential to die a second time?
What about dispersal mates that can be two whole years older than you at the start of a game? Will they age with you, and die when THEY turn 8, even though the player wolf is still only 6?
This new feature adds so much complexity and intrigue to the game and oml I’m so excited 👀👏
Your story with your pups is done but you will be able to see how they fared in the Family Tree.
Haven't been this earlier in a bit.
As a girl who has been interested, and played wolfquest for like 6 years, im fine with the way you put the game anyways. When the 1.07 update comes out, I will feel like my wolf will spend their last days playing with his pups as they pass then they grow up. Its gonna make me tear when I do that
The wolf at the end tho 🥺 They looked so peaceful but also in a way sad.. I just wanted to give them a hug 😞 I don’t think they’d like that much 🤔
Well my aunt took care of a wolf pup who was named Sakari and as a matter of fact she loved hugs we had to give her away when she got older but it was fun to foster her when she was young, my aunt worked in a zoo that’s how we ended up with her
I honestly love this idea so much!
We would love to have appearance change with age, but it's technically and aesthetically daunting. But maybe someday...
(i think i gave myself a fear i didn't know i had, but i really enjoy the concept of being able to live the life of a wolf, not just an invincible one. a lot of game developers are scared to make games face reality as they don't want kids to lose their "imagination". honestly, i believe it would be more terrifying for somebody to have an "imagination" all the way until the age of 18, and then suddenly their parents expect them to be mature and get a job. growing up isn't a choice, and although video games can make things immortal, nothing lasts forever. those 3 words are something nobody wants to hear.)
every update/future update makes me want to hop back into the game! really excited for this one
The fact that I was JUST thinking about the birthday thing while playing a few weeks ago! Lol
It dawned on me too that my wolf would be three in springtime for the Slough Creek episode and I wondered what it would be like to have a wolf in the game that would actually age.
It’s like you read my mind!
This is making me cry even tho I have 6 dead elder wolves the music gets me
I can't express how much I am so thankful and grateful for you guys.
This is such a cool feature, it really adds to the realism!
Yes, I'm definitely going to try this out!
this game was my entire childhood, and when I bought this game again at 18, the second i heard the opening music i just started bawling my eyes out. it was so insanely nostalgic and i was so overwhelmely happy. i remember being young and wishing for all of this stuff to happen!!! thank you so much for this game and the impact it had on so many lives !!!
I'm excited for this and scared because I need to choose more wisely
The amount of depth and storytelling in this game continues to get better. I love this, its so immersive :D
The great circle of life.
"When our bodies die we become the grass. And the elk eat the grass. So we are all connected"
I love getting to see my wolves grow up!
That song at 4:39 fits perfectly
It feels so nice when developers are developing a game they truly cherish and love. Thank you so much for all of the effort!
This is so extraordinary
This game has truly become the best wildlife simulator in the world and I doubt it will ever be surpassed.
Also, I am going to confess that I started to cry just to imagine when my favorite wolf dies of age, imagine how I am going to get when it passes ;-;
We feel that too.
If my wolf Daylight ever dies of old age, I’ll know that he’s still alive in my heart and memories, but I’ll still be devastated.
I can't express how much I needed this. This and the Ironwolf. It's beautiful.
Wooow... You *really* think and work hard on making this game more and more realistic bit by bit...
That's pretty amazing!
This is so cool, I have always loved the idea of aging and growing with your pups. I hope this means we'll be able to have an adult pack some day with little pups and adolescents as well! I really love this feature.
Will your mate age too? It would be rather odd if you get older while your mate enjoys immortality. XD
Yes, they age with you but don't get the perks.
So, I was wondering if after Ironwolves die or just old wolves die, will you still be able to use that wolf in multiplayer games?
I don’t think so. It sounds like after an ironwolf dies you aren’t able to load up any type of game with that wolf anymore
@@toastymouse8230 Okay. Honestly, I'm fine with that. I can just delete dead wolves to make more room for new characters and grown pups.
The fact that death is included is really scary, but also somehow very beautiful
This is such a cool concept ❤️ Keep it up, you guys are doing an amazing job ❤️
off topic but the fur on that wolf at the end is beautiful! i hope that is a wolf from one of the DLC's
Yeah it’s from the most recent DLC
Uhhh I don’t know what I was expecting but this blew it out of the water! I’m sooo excited!!
I haven't played this game in about a year or more. this game is special to me though, so I got off of my hiatus and checked its status on Steam. I'm happy to see anniversary edition updated so much! I might get back into it, starting with binging these videos. these videos were always so fun to watch, I like the narrator's voice
Welcome back!
@@WolfQuestGame oh ok then i will definitely look into it more!
I love how you really stay true to the realism of an actual wolves life. A lot of games get cheesy when it comes to this stuff. But i looooove these ideas. Keep up the stupendous work!!!
Can I use this on a game I already have or do I have to re-start? (When it comes out)
This is also an AMAZING UPDATE THANK YOU DEVS!
Yesssss finally a game that has real aging!! This is amazing! You guys will make a game that goes down in history!
We will be adding the new music to the WolfQuest Soundtrack pretty soon! wolfquest.org/about/music
Y’all never cease to impress me with your attention to detail! This is amazing. 🥺💕
ohhh I'm gonna cry my eyes out with this aren't I? lol gosh I love it.
This is even more than what I was hoping for! In fact, this is exactly the kind of thing I had in mind when wishing for some kind of "progression" in the game, despite the pups not growing up completely yet. This is a fantastic way to give more role play to players! Very creative! :D
Yes, at this point, because we haven't made Tower Fall yet, you have to start a new game to get a new litter (once you've completed the SC episode).
For some reason, as long as I stay a bit away from the den when chasing off predators, my pups never venture out.
@@kaleaandsunny7819 Yes but what about when you slept in your den and a predator appears during the time you were in the den

I like the perks route. It feels like it brought something to the game it was missing. I may not advance every wolf to age 8 but definitely will do several of them over time (save a few for multiplayer).
Looking forward to the future of this game ^^
As sad as this seems. I love this
Just when I’m thinking this game can’t possibly get any better y’all outdid yourselves!!
It also gives a challenge
ooo! this makes me wonder what sort of challenge runs will come out of this. something like trying to reach age 8 in ironwolf mode.
Can't be hard considering that my wolves hardly die, despite not being in Ironwolf mode. I guess I'm just more cautious about not dying than some?
I like the fact you have the option to age or not
WOW!!!!!! I can't wait to try this out!!! I LOVE the game and really do appreciate how much work and time you guys sacrifice for this!!! Means the world!!!!😍😍🐺
I’m so excited for this
I like the way you did the age system the perks will be so fun even though the fact that your wolf will die is sad it will make the game so much more realistic!
there should be a cut scene when your dying like your wolf automatically starts slowing down and “limping” until it lays down and if it’s around wolfs they will come over and comfort you or maybe whine or if you are alone you just lay there for a few until you get the you have died messages
The last time I was here was a year ago. Catching up on the devblogs! :D
This is awesome, I'm so excited! I do wonder, will there be subtle differences to your wolf as you age? I don't know if it happens at 6-8 years, but it might be cool to see gray fur around the eyes and muzzle as you get to your elder years. Just a thought :3
That would be cool. Aging the appearance would be a lot of work so is on our future wish list for now.
@@WolfQuestGame No rush, it's already an amazing game that's only getting better and better ^w^
I remember being a kid and playing this game Im so glad yall are putting work into It again , This game Is so lovely ;u;
We know a lot of players would enjoy playing as pups or other animals. Maybe someday?
