What's really interesting is that she passed on my birthday, also I attended a wedding last month, I wore a poka dot blue and white dress, (red shoes, and yellow earrings and yellow bracelet). ❤💛😁
What you did not specified was that the very instant when Dr. Martin Luther King persuaded Michelle Nichols to stay on Star Trek was no ordinary conversation. It was a _bed conversation_ .
Nichols used to get around a lot, with both bachelors and married men, while MLK's adulterous penchants and womanizing are no secret. Gene Roddenbury kept her on Star Trek partly because she grew to become soon one of his favorite mistresses.
I wish I could have met her. I was named after her. Rest in love Queen 👸🏾 🤎 🤎🤎
How cooooool!😎✨
I have a family member with it as her middle name I knew I had heard of that name before she was born 😮😊
I was named after her as well. My parents were "Treckies". 😊
Me too☺️☺️☺️Middle name, I always felt unique about it
Beautiful name!!!!
Her son put her in a conservatorship, sold her LA home and moved her to New Mexico. He isolated her from her friends for years. He even dragged her out of a comicon for talking to a friend that showed up, all while yelling at the friend and her. She still very much was sane & shouldn’t have been in a conservatorship . Rest in power!
Sounds like she was a victim of the Lou Taylor's cartel too...
Some times the family members are your worst enemies. Sounds like a person who was just after her money.
The first interracial kiss to be televised and it was Star Trek showing too lmao. An icon ❤️.
The first interracial kiss was supposed to be with her and Spock on the script, but Shatner got arrogant and wanted all the credit and spotlight... And forced himself to be on the script
Why you proud about this
@@starfire246810I can’t blame Shatner.
I had the pleasure of meeting her six years ago at a con. She was gracious, humble and beautiful. ❤💛
As a young black girl, she was the reason I watched Star Trek and grew to like it. ❤ 💛 ❤ 💛 ❤ 💛
She is TRULY iconic🙌🏼💗 Rest in peace 👑
Wow she was gorgeous! She favors Phylicia Rashad
Nichelle was the epitome of a true LADY --- she had such style, beauty and grace. She was my very first "role model" as a young child, and I soooooo wanted to look and be like her at the early age of 6.
When my mother told me this would be impossible because we were of a different _ethnicity_ --- I couldnt and didnt know WHAT that meant at the time as a young child whose parents had immigrated to the States just 2 years earlier. I became so angry at my mother when she told me this, that I didnt speak to her for 4 months. Then one day, she bought me an African doll and it became my favorite doll throughout my entire childhood. I named her Uhura. I still have her 32 years later.
I cried so much when I heard of Ms. Nichols passing...this _woman_ misses her badly!
Rest among the Stars Beautiful Lady, you were a SUPERNOVA!!! 💛❤💛❤
Such a beautiful and ICONIC actress! She will FOREVER be a TRAILBLAZER as Lieutenant Uhura. Forever rest in heavenly peace, Nichelle Nichols. 😔🙏🏾❤️🕊️
I was fortunate to meet her 3 times over the years. We had detailed conversations about her career and her work with NASA. I thanked her for changing the world with her on screen kiss. I will always have a crush.
What a beautiful and talented human being! I’m very grateful for the path she opened up for all women. Rest in Eternal Peace, Ms. Nichelle Nichols❤💛💛❤🕊️🫶🏾💐
💛💛💛❤❤❤
RIP Nichelle Nichols. She's the reason I started watching Star Trek as a kid.
Thank you for doing this. I admired her as an actress. She was truly an icon.❤💛❤💛❤️💛❤️💛❤️💛❤️
Gene Roddenberry is an extraordinary man for choosing her when he could’ve chosen anyone especially in this timeframe❤
He only choose her because she slept with him
What an absolute legend she is/ was . The first princess of space navigation !!❤💛
I LOVE NICHELLE! So Beautiful, Elegant, and Strong! I was so sad she passed. I'm Grateful to hear more about her, thank you!❤💛
Nah she was letting use her just to get a role in the movie
Such a beautiful and iconic actress. ❤💛
I remember seeing Nichelle Nichols in a small role in the movie "Are We There Yet," starting Ice Cube and Nia Long. I watched her on Star Trek as a young girl and I thought she was stunning and graceful. A few years back I read or heard she and Gene Roddenberry were in a relationship. I could never find anything to substantiate that rumor. I would love to see you do feature on Denise Nicholas or Jayne Kennedy if you haven't already. Well done ❤️❤️❤️💛💛💛
Nichols wrote about their relationship only after Roddenberry's death, in her autobiography Beyond Uhura.
@@julietgreenidge3914and that’s her husband left
I wished this video got more likes. She was one of the few black women who played roles that were not based on stereotypes. She also sang the Star Trek theme song. 💛❤💛❤
Wow what a beautiful story about Martin Luther King, I have tears in my eyes too, I love your channel thank you♥️💛🙏🐶🐾🏡🐣💫
I lived with Nichelle where I took care of the Head of NASA Space Shuttle. One particular night, the first black female astronaut Mae Jamison came over and we all conversed throughout the night.
During the 60's, I first viewed her in Star Trek. This beautiful lady, impressed me very much. I was elated, that Nichelle was allowed to be presented as a highly intelligent, skilled, Black woman. I had never, observed a "sista" in such a proffesional role. Lastly, she inspired all types of women to pursue careers, in science, and technology. Because of Nichelle, the barriers which have plagued women for centuries in this country, eventually, met enormous change. Her positive actions, resulted in tremendous opportunities for future women.
Such a Beautiful Queen 👸🏾😁👏🏾💯❤ tyfs
Nichols was-GORGEOUS-and-SEXY !!! LOL.
I loved her on Star Trek!❤❤❤
20/20 did a special about the Heaven’s Gate cult. That’s how I knew about her brother being a part of it.
Trekkie here 🖖 and Nichelle Nichols admirer. I remember reading her autobiography, but the part about her brother I either don't remember or it was omitted.
She also dated Mr. Trek himself, Gene Roddenberry. Also, Lieutenant Uhura was supposed to be Spock's love interest (as hinted at in the pilot with her singing and Spock playing backup). Gene wanted it, but the network shot it down. Luckily, they revived this plotline in the modern ST Zaldana/Quinto reboots. 🥰
Many men courted her, not just fictional aliens and their makers.
She was Gene's mistress,Gene was a-HOUND-dog !!! LOL.
I never read her autobiography but I did know her brother Frank. He was a professional butcher and a great fun guy. RIP to both of them.♥️♥️
Queen Nichelle Nichols went to the same High School I attended & grew up n the area of where my paternal side of family are from. Her father was also a founding member of the Black Suburban Robbins, Illinois. I truly admired her.
My main reason for watching 'star trek' in the early days. She was just a sight to behold.
Havent been living under a rock but i also never was into Star Trek. She is a gorgeous woman!
She has had a profound impact on my life too. I love Nichelle Nichols. ❤💛❤💛❤💛
I cried as if it was my own grandma who passed away last year , so sad I looked up to her ❤️💛❤️💛
❤️💛 Strong, Beautiful actress on StarTrek💛❤️
i didnt know her name was really Grace. what was wrong with that? its crazy how hardly any stars use their own name
The Beautiful Nichelle Nichols is an icon to me as a black girl. She was so elegant and talented. May she continue to rest in peace. Thanks Karine ❤
❤💛 She was 😍 lovely! Thank you for doing a documentary on her.
A stunningly beautiful woman. I wonder if she had Mixed Indian heritage In her autobiography, Nichols stated that she was romantically involved with Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry for several years in the 1960s. She said the affair ended well before Star Trek began, when she and Roddenberry realized he was in love with Majel Hudec, who was an acquaintance of Nichols'. Majel starred in the original Star Trek too
❤💛 Absolutely gorgeous and very classy. She inspired me just by watching her on Star Trek as a young girl. Words cannot express what seeing a beautiful Black woman on TV as a child. I never forgot her impression on my childhood😊❤
I grew up watching her in the original Star Trek. Amazing lady.
She would have been great as Cleopatra or Nefertiti
A classic beauty,a woman of class and grace....
Ooo tears with this one …I’m getting to the point I only watch your videos because they are calming precise and well done ❤
Karine: “Now unless you’ve been living under a rock I’m sure you’ve heard of the legendary Nichelle Nichols!”
Me: *Shifts awkwardly under my rock 😭
😭😭😭😂😂😂 I’m sure you’re not the only one love
omg how old r u
I’m 18 but I love learning about old Hollywood actresses so I’m kind of surprised I’ve never came across Nichelle
@@destinyclark4133 Well that makes sense you're not under a rock you're just young I'm so glad Karine educates a whole new generation
Yessss!!! My Queen !!
Yes, my sister was named Nichelle because of her. Love the name.
Her son looked just like her and I noticed that in the Movie “The Learning Tree”.. I’m going to continue watching since I had to pause to mention that lol

Thank you for doing a video on Nichelle Nichols ❤💛🎉
She is such a beautiful woman!!
Karine we must be on the same wavelength!! I was just looking into Heaven’s Gate last night. 😭

What a natural beauty she was.
Hey, thanks so much for your research,I must say I truly appreciate the content you've found is of course very well done & I'm sure there's absolutely more about yes the iconic Royal
actress, take note of her hand wave at the ending of Star Trek & yes she most certainly grew maturely beautifully, dive deeper there's positively much much more to her no doubt 😉&
the music's sound very interesting a good sound😊
Thank u for bringing all those big celebrities from the past, one that I don't think you have done yet, although you don't do many guys, is Cab Calloway, I like to think that he was the energy of the 30s, thank you.
I've always enjoyed your vids . especially on Hollywood actresses, i think you should do a story on Irene Bedard Shes a beautiful native American actress who did the voice of Pocahontas , and stared in the movie smoking signals which ive loved . Shes very inspiring but a few years ago she has been arrested for DUI. i believe she has gotten the help she needs . now i see Shes been on the show Alaska daily i didn't think she would appear on screen again after the incident but I'm happy for her such a beautiful soul. hopefully your able to do a story on her id be grateful❤❤
To the most beautiful queen ❤️💛
I love the way that you break it down like Legos❤
This is my first time ever in my sixty years of life hearing the word " speechless" pronounced as " spec-chu-las" . @ 8:40 timeline. I realized that you speak several languages.
That woman was flat out gorgeous. ❤.
You should do a breakdown of all the original Star Trek actors.
💛Nichelle Nichols was someone I looked up to so much as a little girl. ❤ If you haven't seen it, look up her song in the ST episode "Conscience of the King", where she sings across the intercom to an officer who is stuck alone down in engineering. It's very haunting.💛
🎀🏅Live in Jamaica and she impacked my life too. I'm glad Dr. King's intervention.
Thanks, lady Nichelle
NICHELLE NICHOLS WAS ICONIC IN HER ROLE AS LIEUTENANT YERHURA IN STAR TREK AND SHE WAS A AMAZING ACTRESS IN THAT ROLE FOR BLACK WOMEN OF THAT ERA!!😊❤💛

...thank you for shouting out her performance in Truck Turner!❤💛
She was,GORGEOUS. More so than then of todays eyelash, weave, nail crowd.
Thank you, Ms. Nichols ❤️💛❤️💛
As a former Trekie, I have to say, as humans go, Uhura was kinda neat lookin'.
I think Beyoncé could play her in a biopic (if she gets acting lessons). 😬 They favor each other a lot. Maybe Felicia Rashad could play an older version.
