Man. I was like 13 when I stumbled upon the Shaytards, and now I'm 23, seen the highs and the lows, the hilarious and the sad. 10 years have gone by and the OG youtube family is still keeping it OG. Greetings from Finland!

I was flipping through youtube finding something to watch one day that was 6 years ago or 7 years ago I can't believe I'm still watching them. It was Shays energy and positive that has kept me watching all these years including even coming back through all the rumors and dark times he went through with his personal life they stopped vlogging for the longest time. Glad they are back love the shaytards.

Been watching since I was around 9/10 and I’m 21 now! I hold my imaginary phone the ‘old’ way but mime taking a selfie instead of a holding an actual camera- I think Emmi is right that the phone call thing and the “call me” that we see in movies is never done any other way lol
The experiment is fun to see. I’m going to try it with my family. I would do the same as Colette. It’s really interesting to see the progress from one age to another. Thanks for that Shay
The phone thing, in my brain, is because of the shape of the phones, we actually hold them both pretty similar (back then and now ) I never held a rotary phone with my thumb and finger out like that lol Colette, I hope we all get to hear All too well when you learn it!!
Hey Shay! Tomorrow morning, I’m running my 30th 1/2 marathon! It is the 50th Anniversary Derby in Louisville Ky. I have a total of 70 races now. I always tell people, you are the one who inspired me to try running. I’m 10 years into it now. You and Colette should come next year! Love to have ya. We get to run through Churchill Downs.

I'm an 80s kid and my kids know the music, movies, shows from my generation so when I asked my 17 yr old those questions she did it the way I would. She also added that Stranger Things used desk phones and answered them the same way. LOL!
My first video was "kids on a plane" or something like that, in like 2011. I've been hooked since. :)

I remembered recently from The Slight Edge that life is a contact sport. You do the actions and gain the understanding. Only so much learning how to ride a bike we can do without actually getting on the bike. Hahaha don't play uke and ride bike at the same time. Being alive instead of the shoulds and can'ts. I answer the phone like Brock but used one hand to go phone landscape orientation to take a photo of something in front of me.
I have those debates with family and friends so much, cause I’m born in 97 so technically that’s the start of gen z but I relate more to millennials and those two experiments you did i do the answering the phone and taking a photo the first way not the way the new generation does😄

1997-2010 is Gen z, I’m apart of Gen z and when I did this I did the same phone thing as Emmi but when it came to pictures I did a selfie 🤳 😂

I'm like a couple years older than Emmi and I think our generation is the between generation. We were raised by millenials in a time when social media was just a tiny sprout growing ever so slowly. By the time social media took over, we were already big enough to think. So our answers would probably be closer to that of our parents because I remembered having a house phone, tv that needs a slap everyonce in a while and those old school cameras you hold with one hand 😅

Collete you should really look into buddhism. i feel like the things you say relate a lot to buddhism and were taught to us as young kids. you might find the deeper teachings of buddhism about the workings of the mind really insightful

That test thing at the end. In my house my sister and I are from the 90s same for the cousins. Even those from 2000s at some point. 100% my parents and grandparents would do the same.
The Youngest cousins I have are 5 years old so they are the only one I think might answer with palm spread as a phone :). We had a rotary dial phone when we lived with my grandma and then at our house we had a cable wall phone with digits. :P

Why was there a weird reflection happening on the left side of the video?
I'm older than all of you ~ yet i answered the phone like Collette and took a photo like Brock. Thinking about it after, i bring the photo thing down to this... I am an older single Mum of two kiddults. If one of us don't take the photo with us all in it selfie style then someone misses out or we double up. If i am out and about and want to photograph myself with something, I don't have a partner to take that photo, so i selfie it. Can i claim flexible learning style ha!
If you asked me to do the camera. I'd do it oldschool way because I grew up in the 90's. But the phone I'd go full selfie cause I was a teenager in the late/early 200's
