Saw the Sans-Hooky New Order & Midge Ure with my long-term mate Chris(who posted this gig online along with snippets of the NO gig) just before the Australian nation-wide Covid Lockdown..
The single greatest instrumental masterpiece I’ve ever heard. Can’t tell you how many tapes as a boy I went through listening to this album. This song still brings a tear to my eyes when I hear it especiallly the last minute of the song. So powerful and moving.long live Iltravox and Midge Ure.
OMG those CASSETTES! Wonderful anecdote, I myself have the album on several formats now, but YES, listening to Astradyne of my knock of Walkman, under the actual starry sky, will always be treasured! Highly recommend the DVD of Return to Eden, in the 5.1 surround mix, even better than stereo IMHO, but of course there is now the 5.1 of the actual Vienna CD too, assuming you have the playback equipment)... definitely a worthy release of the Vienna album! Thanks for sharing your recollection.
wowwwwwwwwww wow wowwwww Midge was in amazing Form/Spirit Yesterday his Voice was in Top Form it was just amazing the Place was fully packed with hundreds of peoples enyojing every minute/Sec.of him performing...????? I have not seen Midge for a very very long time having soo much Fun...???? What a Voice …????? Performing incl." Private lives/Western promise" a different take on Mr.X using Roboter/Vocoder Voice & raising his voice Higher into another level during Vienna...???? How amazing …???? So Strong/So Powerfull….? Thank you Midge & Band for this incredible Concert/Performance …???? As if Ultravox was on Stage ??????? A Big Shout out to Russel Field"s Drumming he was controlling the Rhythm Speed at the show...???? A younger Version of Warren Cann perfect Drumming the Best Warren Cann replacement Midge ever had...????? Im wondering if it was him helping Midge with the 90s Breath Album...…????? Well Midge was funny mentioned Russel Field is his son he never had... ???? Thank you Midge for coming back doing this in this very scary Difficult Times...???? And for everyone coming to see him & his Band...????? This Man loves Australia/Sydney no Doubt about that...????? We were so lucky & so privileged seeing him still at his very Very Best......
No doubt that Midge's live show massively improved, post the reforming & subsequent disbanding of actual Ultravox (2010 ish), with the sequencing and voicing of the tracks, via Cross and Currie. Warren is missed, especially on Mr X! Midge, however is of course still a wonderful frontman, vocalist and guitarist extraordinaire. Awesome, about as close to the real deal as can be hoped... such a shame Brilliant was the final album.
Surprisingly fantastic! Of course I miss the original musicians (esp. Warren & Billy) but this was great. Too bad as a Sydneysider, I wasn’t even aware it was on!!! Great footage - thanks for sharing! ❤
Saw them in 2010 here in Linköping, 20 minutes bike ride from where I lived then. ua-cam.com/video/Bu4C0ID1dmQ/v-deo.html ...And in Stockholm october 2012.
Gutted that the Perth show was cancelled due to Coronavirus restrictions, bought my tickets as soon as these shows were announced and it got cancelled within hours of it going ahead!
FFS, it's not bad considering it was being recorded on an iPhone about 10ft away from Midge & the band in what would be regarded as an "intimate"venue(read that as a venue that'd hold a bit over 1,000+ punters at best)..listen to it again Blue-Toothed to a JBL Go Speaker at low to mid volume on both the JBL Speaker & the Android/iPhone...plus also remember there's some late Baby Boomer/Gen X'ers trying to emulate Midge's vocals without mikes or a massively loud PA..
How do I know this?? Chris is a long-term mate of mine & I was at that gig pre-Covid Lockdown. .we also saw New Order earlier that week at the Hordern Pavilion.. and I'm listening to the Midge Ure gig as I'm typing this on my Samsung S21FE Blue-Toothed to a JBL Go Speaker...
Incredible. All of Vienna and his great hits. Wonderful and without fancy lights, effexts and huge screens still captured me completely.
Thank you. Midge was the last concert before the world changed. You're awesome.
So glad you were able to attend. Nothing like being there, nothing like making a memory!

Some thanks for the keyboards & violin on Astradyne are owed to his fellow/former Ultravox Bandmate Billy Currie

TOP OF THE TOPS!... GREAT - I CONTINUE TO SEE HIM ON THE BLC's - AMAZING!... HIS VOICE IS STILL QUITE AMAZING!...
seen ultravox and Midge solo. Good to see he's out there playing the old ultravox stuff even without the band

Thanks for posting this. It was a great show. He gave 110% I resisted the urge to do 80's arm flailing dancing. Any beer except for Corona.....
This concert is magical , Perth Scotland best ever.💚💚💚

Was there, last live concert before Covid. It was awesome.

Shame the other members of Ultravox cant get back together with Midge and tour again.
Saw them lots in the 80's but missed the 2010 reunion
