First rate job…I didn’t think you’d finish up like that when I saw the undulations ! Really enjoying your videos
Thanks for your feedback, it is appreciated.
Beautiful stuff mate. What part of Queensland is it from?
Thank you for your feedback. Not sure which part of Queensland it is from.
Could not agree with your analysis of the stone more, although a question popped into my head while watching the video, which was "Could it have been possible to work the stone up further before making the decision to remove the top layer, just to enhance the decision making process?". I realise there are so many factors involved that perhaps it is a nonsensical question. And having asked the question I think I will just finish my comment by saying, the finished product... c'est manifique!
Thank you for your thoughts and feedback. Sometimes you feel the pressure. Every stone is different and you want to get the best result without making mistakes. If you can take your time and consider your options.
Great video , wow what a polish , the back looks incredible as well , Beautiful piece .

Is this the best way to carve boulder? I got a set of wheels but I'm new to cutting stone. I also have Dremel tools but I want to know what I'm doing before I ruin a very nice stone
Thank you for your question. As the colour in boulder opal often forms in thin layers of coloured silica/opal, that are very rarely straight or flat, we need to use tools that allow us to remove the ironstone without removing too much of the colour. I use a number of different wheels and tools to do this process as quickly and efficiently as possible. Take it slowly and consider if the wheel or tool you are using is the right one for the stone you are working on.
Nice work.......!!!!!
Thank you.
Do you cut opals as a service ??
Thanks for you question. We do processing of opal as parcel lots, which would need to be a minimum of 10 stones. Opal needs to be Australian in origin. Do you have some opal that needs cutting?
BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you.
Beautiful

Hi there ma good sir..I bought some rubber abrasive leather bits for my dremal
Thing is I’m not sure what is what from the grit size..I got this idea from your videos..
Can you give me any tips on how to find out what each bits grit corse size..
Thank you
Thanks for your question. Without seeing the points its difficult to know what grades they are. If the provider of the points marked them as coarse, medium, fine, extra fine, etc, just use them in that order. If there are no identifying labels or marks, just try each point on a piece of glass to see the scratch pattern it makes. I hope this has helped.
