You are a star mate, i was thinking tht it wont be possible to change bulb without removing the fuse box and so said the mechanic, and believe me he was charging me 30 euros for just changing the bulb.. and there i found this video, very handy and easy job. Thanks alot mate..
Thanks for this! This works for the Zafira B model too, no tools needed. Following this I did both bulbs in my 2011 Zafira in less than half an hour. Banging.
Mate can’t thank you enough for this video, I spent two hours trying to get this effin bulb in (cut hands, temper tantrum the works), then I watched this and it was done in fifteen minutes! 👍
Perfect for my job today! I was about to take the whole air filter box out to get to the bulb - didn't know there was this handy access via the wheel arch liner! Thanks so much.
Another thanks for the detailed vid! A few points / thoughts: - I was getting frustrated on the disconnecting part, but as he said, "just pull it out" - so I put both of my hands in there, grabbed the black plastic socket housing (where wires are attached) with thumb and index finger, and then with other hand firmly squeezed the glass part of bulb with thumb/index as well. Then pulled as hard as I could, and eventually it came apart. - when putting the entire thing back in the hole, I'm not sure it matters which direction you turn it? In the video, he says rotate left, but I ended up rotating right (clockwise) and it got in place. I don't remember which side I rotated it towards when pulling out in the first place though.
Just been trying to do one of mine and couldnt figure it out till i watched this and easy when you know where the access point is inside the wheel arch liner... Absolute legend you are mate a huge thank you for saving my sanity🤣👍
Every car I have previously owned, changing a headlight bulb was an easy task. I would have felt a right idiot having to go and get a garage or Halfords to do this and at a cost as well. Who would have thought you have to access the bulb under the wheel arch. The designers of this must have been having a right laugh. So thank you for your time in making this instruction video. Most helpful. Cheers.
Thanks for posting mate. Got it sorted from your vid. Really battled to put it back in because it really is playing it by feel and making sure you've got the tin tabs in the right place. Can't see anything with your hand in the little opening. Glad I found your vid though. Thanks. Gave a thumbs up
Thanks! I was going crazy trying to figure out what I had to do - and the store said there were four possible bulbs, so I'd need to bring it in. Now I can, and should be able to put a new one in, and be on the way again!
You should check out rev and redlines channel mate good with all astra h stuff ....if there is sumet on video he aint done ask him he will make a video or help you out .....
5 mins to loosen bumper ( 2 screws and some plastic clips) (plenty of U tube videos show how easy this is) then unbolt headlight unit replace bulb ..(far easier with headlight unbolted - only 3 bolts) job sorted.
You're a lifesaver, but damn that little hanging panel doesn't half get in the way and you pretty much have to do all the unplugging and reconnecting via feel, as there is no room for your head or a torch lol
Useful pointers as to where the access is but it was really fiddly. I finally jacked up the car and removed the wheel. SO SO SO much easier in the end. The extra 5 minutes to take the wheel off is well worth the bother.
Very good video, but when he says just pull the light out, sometimes it may feel really stiff to the point where you feel it isn't moving...continue and persist by wiggling it back and forth, it will eventually will pop out.
Make sure you turn off and turn on engine after replacement. If you put light bulb while it's running, it will not work. You need to restart the system.
Thanks for the help - I've been changing car headlamp bulbs for 40 years, including early model Astras which were MUCH easier than this was. And I have long thin arms n fingers... Not helped that many web pages get confused as to which is the full/main beam bulb (H1, also a sod to access esp the airbox side and it's illogical spring clip), and this dip beam H7 bulb. I'm a mechanical designer, and this design is poor. Annoyingly the access hatch is attached to the car on a short leash and fights to get in the way. Similarly the job would be SO much easier if the bulb had a slightly longer wiring loom, as it can be VERY tight to pull the bulb from the holder, especially with fear of breaking the bulb glass and leaving the rest behind.. I prefer to use a flat screwdriver to gently prise the bulb away from the socket holder, itself not easy as the holder is made of thin polished tin just like the bulb's own base, hard to tell by eye, nevermind by feel. No wonder the car handbook has such poor pictures which ignore all the access obstructions (and itself get's confused twixt main and dip beam bulb locations !). It also doesn't specify which bulb type to fit !! - GM obviously want you to pay a dealer to do what should be a simple task. It might even be easier in the long run to remove the whole headlamp assembly to ease bulb replacement if more than one bulb to change ?. So thanks again sir !
I'm in the process of doing this but the bulb is so hard to pull out of the socket it's connected to, any advice? Precisely at 3.31 Any advice on pulling out the stiff bulb?
Big Boss old bulb came out easily with a fair bit of pulling and wiggling....new bulb was a g#t to fit, wouldn't fit ....then just slid in no prob...go figure....
Thank you, really enjoy watching you astra videos, I have the same 3 door Astra. Question: my sidelights are very dim, how do I get access to them? And which sidelights do you have? I'm liking the blue colour?! Thanks for your great videos!
You can get to them from the bonnet, but I found they were tricky to access because there is very limited space. For driver's side, I removed the air box to get to them; for the passenger's side, I took off the battery and unbolted the battery tray - both of these took no longer than about 10 minutes to get off. Upgraded the sidelights to 501 LED bulbs and they look great! You'll probably need CANBUS compatible bulbs (CANBUS error-free) to make sure they work properly.
Pain in the Arse but i did it , thank you! have to do most of it blind! hate modern cars, what happened to the days you open the bonnet, reach in, bulb out, bulb in, drive off! on my car (My astra is a van) you have to take the bloody bumper off! pathetic. anyway cheers for this video!
They are designed to be changed from the engine compartment, It is impossible to get some of them in without unscrewing the 2 torx screws one turn. Best remove the air filter and work from the engine compartment with no wriggling.
You are a star mate, i was thinking tht it wont be possible to change bulb without removing the fuse box and so said the mechanic, and believe me he was charging me 30 euros for just changing the bulb.. and there i found this video, very handy and easy job. Thanks alot mate..
Bro u make it look soo easy. Its actually a pain to take off the old bulbs
How did you get it out? It feels like it’s stuck
Same problem! I spent two hours...but then I saw this! Thank you!
30 seconds for me. After trying for 5mins and getting angry
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thanks👍👍👍
Perfect for my job today! I was about to take the whole air filter box out to get to the bulb - didn't know there was this handy access via the wheel arch liner! Thanks so much.
Halfrauds were going to charge me £25 for bulb and fitting, you saved me a packet, cheers dude
Greetings from Finland, thanks for the instruction, very helpful!
Don't understand those who give negative to this video. It's a 10+ guide, the best I have find. Good work mate and many thanks! 👍
Thank you so much
Ages since I changed this bulb, so much easier to refit after watching this vid... (after forcefully twisting and yankin' it out!). Thanks!
Thank you. I have just changed my bulbs, followed your video.
You, sir, have just saved me £30. Watched you, thought about it & 15 min later all sorted. Legend.
Thank you for this fella. I looked under the bonnet, thinking that's how it is changed...nope! So, this video is appreciated. 👊
Would never have thought to have checked the wheel arch. Thanks job done
Cheers for this. Wasn’t sure how to get to bulb until I watched the vid
You have once again saved me a lot of time, just like your Astra h light switch change video, really clear and much appreciated, thank you

Never knew about the flap! Cheers bro top work
Excellent thanks for this. I looked under the bonnet and thought, what!
and here I was under the bonnet thinking I had to pull the whole light assembly out - many, many thanks
Same. Then i remembered. " wait there is a vw where you need to look above the wheel. Then i found it.

Thanks bro. Super video.

Cheers mate, good tutorial 👍
Really loving this video, i learnt something new today
Thanks , I will try it tomorrow on my Zafira b.
Useful pointers as to where the access is but it was really fiddly. I finally jacked up the car and removed the wheel. SO SO SO much easier in the end. The extra 5 minutes to take the wheel off is well worth the bother.
Can you show how to do side lights and his beam bulbs
Can you reach both the bulbs doing this process? Or to reach the other light do you have to take the whole light unit off??
Thank you so much for this video mate. Helped me big time.
Very good video thank you 👍
Thanks mate. It's great living in an age were videos like this exist!
Many thanks. Also the same for a Zafira B.
Is it sad that I feel a sense of satisfaction from changing a light bulb?
What should it be sad?
Did not have this performance on my cortical is this progress .
Thank you helpful ❤

Top vid..thank you very much.!
Thanks you so much for this I subscribed cheers
Put in a working bulb but it seems to have no power. Any ideas?
Thank you, really enjoy watching you astra videos, I have the same 3 door Astra. Question: my sidelights are very dim, how do I get access to them? And which sidelights do you have? I'm liking the blue colour?! Thanks for your great videos!
Mitul88 you should be able to change the side lights from opening your bonnet and getting to the lights that way, it’s a led Philips blue bulb 501
thnks mrs using this vid now. Good job fella
