Fasting guideline* First, invite Jesus to fast in you. This fast is a *gift,* and you need to have the desire and pray for it. *What are you allowed to eat?* *Bread -* There is no limit to the amount or the type of bread you can eat. You may have bread with seeds and sourdough, plain rice, plain porrage, polenta, arepa, and plain crackers. Sweet, cheesy bread, or bread that contains dairy products is not allowed. *Eat as often as you need* *Olive oil* - Use (plenty) of olive oil as a dip or sprinkle on your bread, rice or polenta. *Salt* - Add salt to your bread and water. Increase your salt intake slightly to prevent dehydration and cramps. *Water-* hot, cold or sparkling water *Sacrementals* - Add blessed or exorcised oil and salt to your bread daily It is essential that you *eat regularly* and *are not hungry* on this fast. Prayers* The main focus of fasting is spiritual renewal. Therefore, *three hours of prayers daily (also requested by our Lady of Medugorje) is essential.* This includes *Holy Mass** - The main food is the Holy Eucharist, so daily Mass is vital. *Holy Rosary* 📿 *Reading the bible* (Psalms and Gospel of John) *Eucharistic Adoration* *Divine Mercy chaplet* *Regular confession* *Fasting Preparation* None needed. It is a grace, and you can do it even if you have never fasted previously. You will not damage your health. Remember, man does not live on bread alone but on the real food, *Jesus , who is the bread of heaven and the word of God* . *Take your prescribed medication.* *Further information* You will experience strong internal and external opposition once you decide to fast. Therefore, it is best not to discuss your fast with others. It is a spiritual battle, remain firm, stay in prayer , as special graces are given when we pray and fast. Should you suffer from colds or fever like symptoms, continue with the fast. They are spiritual distraction aimed to stop your fast. *During the fast, you must ask for the grace of fasting each morning.** If you struggle during the day, pray Jesus fast in me.
Thank you Tom for your ministry. After watching your testimony earlier this year I felt called to fast on bread and water for 40 days. It was an incredible experience. Every day I kept asking Jesus to give me strength to continue and He did. I was still able to cook for my family 🙂. Daily Eucharist was essential. I hope I can do it again next year. Thank you Lord for calling me to do it 🙏🙏🙏
Look at what your fasting did, Father!!! That is awesome!! Thank you for sharing that, Father - this encourages me to do the fast…….I have had the brakes on…….pray for me……..Patricia/Massachusetts USA
