303 has UV protection, use it every 45-60 days, leaves a mate finish, doesn't attract dust, lint and it's cheaper than VLR.I say, 303 hands down. Mother's is good in waxes, sealers, etc but not in this department.
I used Armor All for years but decided to try Mothers because it was less expensive with a better spray handle. I absolutely love Mothers. The all purpose formula has a slight sheen to it, not as glossy as Armor All, but the smell gives your vehicle that just detailed finish. Love it for the tires, too! I may try the other for comparison once my Mothers is gone, but so far, it's my go to.
303 was designed for use on aircraft instrument covers to protect from UV at altitude, best protection for a car is something designed for an aircraft :). Plexus is also a great product for shine plastics and plexiglass... Again used on fighter jet canopies.
I found the 303 vinyl wipes luckily at an autozone few weeks ago and never used it before. I can vouch it protects and last longer then mcguairs or armour all hands down! I wiped down my grey looking side steps and it brought it back to life and the shine lasted longer then other Products.
VLR leaves a non-shiny way residue. 303 does not. If comparing, the first step is to thoroughly clean the plastic with a purpose-made plastic cleaner. Much less 303 is needed to treat a surface, apply it with a tiny sponge or most of what goes into the sponge will be wasted. Give the 303 time to finish drying and it will match the VLR. Check the surfaces after 2 weeks and the Mothers surface attract more dust. Repeat with annual applications and after 5 years the 303-treated surface will be in much better condition than the VLR (which will be darker because of product buildup).
If you want to compare the products show the side by side view after a month of real world sun and dust. Wipe down the dash with a damp cloth to remove dust and then compare the two products. I have never used that Mother's product. I know they make some decent things. I have used 303 on my 2002 Ford f 150 since I bought it. No cracks in the dash or other plastic parts. I apply it maybe 2-3 times per year. I have no reason to change. I believe the 303 was originally designed for protecting boats out under the sun every day. It is a professional product. I have been cleaning my windshield wipers with isopropyl alcohol then treating them with 303 once per year. They are almost like new going into their 4th year.
I've been using the Aerospace for 8 years and unless they changed the formula it will NOT wash off in the rain. I use it on my motorcycles and only need to apply it every 2 years. This stuff is amazing !
303 is not a dressing, its a protectant. Read the directions carefully! it should be applied directly and then buffed vigorously with a dry cloth which will bond the product to the surface. Done this way, it slick and non glossy and protects the hell out of the treated area.
I use 303 on my tires. first thing I noticed after taking my cayman out of storage? no flat spots on the tires. usually you have to drive the car and deal with a shaky wheel until the flat spots go away. this is the 1st time I have not had flat spots. do your tires, the front, tread, and back. let them sit for a day. then do them every 3 months.
303 is VERY good at protecting tires from degradation, but can not prevent loss of pressure or overcome the flat-spotting of a tire carcass (which is most prominent on nylon belted bias ply tires). In +50 years, I've never experienced flat-spotting on steel belted radial tires tires that were inflated to the sidewall limit when stored, and lowered to the doorsill numbers before driving. However, the best way to store is on jack stands, with the rubber off the paving. That takes the stress off the carcass. Repeated heat-cool cycles of tire under stress on concrete will cause permanent lateral deformation of the tread and carcass.
This is initial glance. What is most important is the long term review. Will they actually protect? What type of protection other than UV? Will it make it easier to clean the next time you scrape your foot on the bottom of your door card IE: is it like a sealant or simply a UV protectant?
I am in the process of wiping down the vinyl siding on my house with VLR. This is the second house that I have done with this product and it works fantastic. It not only cleans and brightens the siding by removing the oxidation but it makes the siding look like new again. This house is 14 years old and looks great. I know it sounds kind of anal but, it only took a couple of hours per side X3 because it has a brick front.
VLR has neatsfoot oil and lanolin, famous for nourishing real vinyl LOL. Random oils slathered onto plastics are just going to either grease it up, until heat drives them into volatilizing and then recondensing onto the inside of the windshield just like silicone oils, or at worst slowly damage the plastic (less likely). PVC is made entirely without such oils, nor are the UV protective additives and plasticizers containing any such natural sourced materials. More variations on marketing hype, for those who failed H.S. science.
0:14 "If it rains, it comes off", really? Is the 303 Aerospace made for marine use? Thus, it it is made for using on boats, how can it be so affected by water? Thank you in advance.
It doesn't come off straight away. It will take few months of washing or harsh weather. It will protect the plastics well from the UV while it lasts. If you will reapply it once every two months you should have great protection and your plastics won't get old at all.
Simply use VLR for its intended purpose which is cleaning and use 303 for the protection. PROBLEM SOLVED! Can't put a price on protecting your investment.
Did not observe and confirm results after 2 to 4 weeks. 303 is proven safe for more than 30 years and will not dry or damage your dashboard or anything else. It does not have the best UV protection of all products. I recommend getting a Windshield Visor/Screen or a protective cover for your dashboard. 303 is safe to use on car paint but it will wash off or may leave some streaks after a rainfall. 303 does not leave streaks unless you use too much and do not wipe up the excess. When dry, water will remove-wash away the 303 making it appear streaky. 303 is best used for all Interior surface trims. It repeals dust for a few months then need to reapply. Best to degrease and clean the surface prior to use. Mothers' VLR is okay but has been known to cause Discolorization. Do not ever use Armor All. For tires, many products work but only for a short time. The exterior black trim needs constant UV protection performed weekly or possibly monthly and be careful of the choice of product because several will turn your black trim to whitish-gray or even brown. This is why I like using 303 on the exterior black plastic trim. Does not cause discolorization but after it rains or when you wash the car must be reapplied for long-term protection. You can always get a car cover or park under the carport or inside your garage. The environment has a way of damaging your car such as tree sap, tree pollen, bird poop, and bug splatter are just some of the things that can affect your car's appearance.
I promise you can find instances where both VLR and 303 caused discolorization, faded, etc etc… depends on a lot of factors. And why’re you talking about 303 being on car paint? Why would you put a product specifically designed and advertised as a interior protection on car paint? Or at least talking about it in the comments? Unless you’re speaking about accidentally gets some excess on the paint when you apply to tires, engine bay, or exterior trim. But you make it sound like you are spraying it on the paint for some reason. Both products are fine and will do a proper job if applied correctly. And you seem to be very knowledgeable on the subject of detailing so props to you !
I need to try out the 303. I recently used a 5:1 dilute of CarPro PERL and really like the results with that. Mostly because it's one product for both wheels, rubber window trim and interior rubbers. Product and sheen both hold up/last very well. Any thoughts on durabilty differences here?
If applied per directions, 303 will prevent the surface from degrading from UV exposure. It will not change the sheen or appearance of the underlying surface once it is cured and the excess wiped off. If sheen is what you want, 303 won't give it to you. I used it on the exterior plastic cladding and exposed rubber on a 2004 Honda Element for 11 years with quarterly applications and the tires lasted their tread warranty. The cladding and other rubber looked like new after annual strip cleanings. (I had cladding pieced removed for a roof rack and retained them).
A clearly biased review. The Mother's was clearly not as black and as you state the 303 had a nice sheen and did (you presumed) provide excellent UV protection. The Mother's nor the 303 were greasy. Your "winner" was your personal choice not based on any particular merits. You did not like the 303 sheen. I did. I thought the 303 looked noticeably more black and looked better I presume due to what you are calling its "sheen." The 303 did not fail in any measure for what the manufacturer claimed, but it "lost" due to your personal choice. Secondarily I was watching to see technique for application. I like the foam brush method you used. Cheers.
Porsche doesn't make leather cleaner, oil, spark plugs, filters, transmission fluid, brake or power steering fluid, antifreeze, washer fluid, blinker fluid, etc. OEM care and maintenance fluids are a cash-cow scam.
Thumbs down, you never compared their protection??? WTF?? we all know how to put something on Einstein. Why didn't you do a 2-3-4 day or a week comparison to see how they looked a week or 2 weeks later? THAT would be a comparison to see which one lasts longer. Dah..
Both darken and grease the surface which is exactly what you dont want on your dash. It doesnt look like that factory so why would you make it look glossy and greasy. Ridiculous
303 is the best hands down. The other stuff in general is just for looks. 303 actually does something.
303 has UV protection, use it every 45-60 days, leaves a mate finish, doesn't attract dust, lint and it's cheaper than VLR.I say, 303 hands down. Mother's is good in waxes, sealers, etc but not in this department.
Mother's has UV protection as well. I don't particularly care for it, but not for that reason.

Yeah I Agree 💯.
The 303 Looks better deeper toned than The Mothers VLR. I can see that it would do a Better performance within the next Five years. 👍

303 tested thru time 👌
this difference is one has proven UV and surface protection.
honestly, these are both awesome. i hate the greasy crap like Armor All. i dont like shine, so these work awesome in my black interior Tacoma!

does the vybal dash absorb the 303?
So is it best to use a dressing to protect n maintain or use a protectant like aerospace?
Great vid. You should do a vid comparison, of both on a bumper and 5 car washes.

I have a truck that sits under my car port. I spray 303 in the tires every few months. Keeps them from dry rotting. 303 is a miracle product.
I can assure you that 303 will not prevent flat spotting of tires. lol

303 in Australia $27 AUD don't know mother, but mother is dear too

Seen Mothers VLR in store, may just have to try this product!

Hey, man. Love your videos. Quick question - where did you get the tints for your headlights? And which color tint did you use?
Illegal tint #3.
My 303 does absolutely nothing! Could it be counterfeit??
Probably not. It's very subtle and it's mainly used to protect not restore.
Does vlr work for seatbelts?
No. You would want to use an automotive fabric cleaner for that.
