I've noticed that reactors in the UK have taken much longer to take notice of this tornado of talent in our own shores. Im glad to see that changing, as he has already won international awards recently and needs to be recognised by more people in this part of the world. His fanbase is VERY protective and i think you'll find your subs increasing substantially now.

He did make the No 1 album in Oct 23 In the UK. Fan base is huge, especially musicians. Live, one takes. He uses the acoustics of his surroundings to emphasise the sound and mood of what he's playing. Bardcore, the ultimate storyteller 😊 thanks for reacting.

At some point I would really recommend you covering his short speech on achieving 1 million subscribers and defining success in his terms. Great insight into what motivates him. Love the way the Tales signal violence and victimhood repeated in two generations (or arguably three) and throw light on what tragedies can ensue when siblings are cut adrift. And the acting…Hollywood, or Netflix, give this guy some airtime!!

A lot of Ren's music really displays masterful understanding of the proper use of juxtaposition. The lyrics oftentimes spar with the lyrics to create beauty and hope out of darkness and the depths of despair.

Enjoyed your reaction, the reveal at the end is always mind blowing! You're right, Ren is a generational talent and yes the 3 songs are live. I watched an interview whereby with Violet's Tale, they had to do several takes and on the final one, the heaven's opened up with a deluge, timed perfectly at the "a girl named Jenny" bit, however the overall best quality take was the one we have all seen. I think I mentioned in your Sick Boi reaction some good directions to go in the rabbit hole, including Money Game trilogy. You don't have to do them all together but I would recommend reacting to them in order, worth noting MG2 the full version is the lyric video, necessitated because done during lock down!

I really like your reactions.😊 I see Ren is a visionary. He's different. If you want hip hop, Genesis & The Hunger are a good way to start. Chalk Outlines live version if you want a sing song. Money Game PT. 1 when you're ready for different, like a stage play. Pt. 2 is a lyric video (the one with the most views the other versions are incomplete and acapela don't do those) and Part 3 is just Epic.

    So....
You're going darker way of Ren now...
    On your level, I recommend:
    - "Money Game (Official Music Video)", if you want go deeper, you are ready imho -> one-take, raw, theatrical, guitar, very deep/important (and this is the first part of three, amazing!)
    - "Animal Flow (Official Music Video)" -> staying deep, quite different, one-take amazing video, bass'n'drums rap, great concepts/references
or... you can always go light way:
    - "Losing it (FISHER Rap Version)" -> rap, funny, lots of references, quite smart
Do you see how they operate the camera?
Do you see how Ren uses different space echoes?
    Do you understand time rewinding/forwarding?
    Loving breaking the 4th wall?
    Loving "A Clockwork Orange" Kubrick's moment @25:05
    I'm sure you do!
    Clever, isn't it? 😃 Wicked! 😋

A very enjoyable reaction, and a nice change of pace to stumble upon a fellow soul from the UK. When you said something close to "this is so wicked", my heart gave a little flutter. It's been too long since I've heard anyone refer to something as "wicked" in that way. It was like I've been visiting America (all the reactors) for half a year, and I get back from over seas, I'm driving late at night down roads so familiar to me. I feel like I'm home. Just a simple thing, but very warming. ❤
You also mentioned "freestyle", as a way to express your thoughts on the whole filming/camera/recording vibe. Not quite the right term to use, but I fully understood where you were coming from. I see you enjoy rap, Hip-Hop, and the many localised derivations. So have you checked out Harry Mack? He is the G.O.A.T. of freestyle, and also happens to be an incredibly positive and nice guy. Amazing well of content to explore, if you haven't already. He made me believe in Hip-Hop again, after I was done with the bland BS.

IMHO the "Tale of Jenny and Screech and Violet's Tale" is a Three Act Shakespearian Tragedy, in the style of the wondering minstrel bard. Ren has self identified his music as bard core, so that is confirmed.
This is an ancient style of music; that goes right back through the wondering minstrel bards of the middle ages. The works of Chaucer sung in the Wife of Bath's ale house. And back to the Dark Ages of Anglo Saxon epic poetry of Beowulf, on through the Greek Homeric tales of The Iliad and The Odyssey and the beginning of the Choir. As Ren shows the music acts in part as interlude/intro as well as melodic emphasis and sound effects for the story.
This form of story telling probably goes all the way back to Ugg twanging his Bow to woo the Chiefs Daughter. Or to complain about the Chief stealing the meat from his hunt, at the hut of the local Widow Ale Wife, where he and others would congregate to let off steam and tell tales of epic hunts. And the perhaps to draw on the local cave walls the tale of their hunt while singing acting and dancing out their day. And even to this day you see the graffiti on the walls as Ren acts out and performs "The Tales."
As a sound engineer I spotted Ren's use of locational reverb as found sound. Something a stone age performer shaman would recognise and that has been shown to have occurred in ancient megalithic architecture and among the few still existing hunter gatherer societies that are studied by anthropologists today. They also got lucky with the Seagulls in part of the song which then was deliberately left in and emphasized in the mix. I think that what was done in the tales calls to that ancient genetic heritage we all have.
All of it indicates the intellectual level of the performance production in this piece that makes it true art.

"How does he come up with this stuff ?" is a great question.
The answer is unfortunately a news story in 2005, so it is based on a real tragedy.

Just writing this before you watch the final part, as it breaks me every time and I can't type.
You will love his other trilogy "The Money Game". 3 lessons about the money game and our relationship with it as a species.
There will be props and plenty more acting to get your teeth into.
Also worth noting that they are also 1-takes and recorded live.

In his older videos, such as these 3 you can actually see mistakes he does... in later ones they hide em... which is not bad, all bands do it,, just like even metallica used autotune.. but older videos are more coerce, they still do a bit of mixing to get rid of outside but on these songs you can hear (&see) they werent there yet.. And to me, that "sings" honesty in voice

Here is how I interpret this song after listening to it a bunch of times and also watching other reactors reacting.
Back in 2005* Violet was pregnant, and her boyfriend Stevie beat her, and she wound up in the hospital clinging to life and she was found to be pregnant. Violet begged the doctor to keep her baby alive indicating that she did not know she had twins. Probably with her abuse hadn't even seen a Doctor. Violet unfortunately passes away and her twin babies Jenny and Screech are separated and raised by different families. We don't know how good or bad they were raised but they both wound up in very bad situations. Jenny was a prostitute** at only 14 years old and Screech was a thief also at only 14 yrs old. That fateful night when they crossed pass neither of them knew the other existed. Screech winds up killing his own twin sister then he gets gunned down by the police and both wind up dying the same night only 1 street apart.
I wouldn't be surprised if the hospital where Violet died was also nearby.
    * In 2005 Violet gives birth to twns and dies then fast forward to 2019 (year that this song was released) and Jenny and Screech are both 14 yrs old.
**Yes Jenny was a prostitute....the following lines in the song indicate that...
"Cause she'd walked it about a thousand times before" showing that she walked up and down so many times plus it was late at night she was "dragging her feet" indicates she has been on her feet for hours at night.
"but stayed as still as a statue in high heel shoes" she was wearing high heels late at night walking the streets ...."I'll slice the rosy off your cheeks " indicted she had heavy make-up on enough to slice off (so to speak) combine all those hints together walking late at night the same streets so many times wearing high heels and lots of make-up on points to her being a prostitute.... IMO

Yeah, this one blew my mind. It was a condensed Romeo and Juliet. The Tragety. No, it is actually unique. It's deffenitely a tragety but It's Violet, Jenny and Screech.
