BMW E39 Rear Deck Removal

- In this video I will show you how to remove the rear parcel shelf on a BMW E39. I had to do this in order to replace the rear struts on my M5. The process should be the same for all 4th gen 5 Series BMW (97 - 2003) with rear fold-down seats.

Excellent DIY! Been procrastinating on the rear shocks on my M5 for over a year. Will have this video playing in the garage during the job. Subscribed to the channel.
The video I wish I found before I took mine apart. Well done! Really not a difficult project but it is good to know the tricks.
Man! Thank you so much for making and sharing this video!! I've got parts on the way for all new coilovers and a full audio system refresh. Plan to do it all at the same time so I don't have to do the rear deck more than once. Cheers!
Great video! Inspired me to finally reinstall my missing rear window Sun screen under the tray. You saved me incredible amount of time. Thanks! Well done!
Great to hear the video is helping others! Like many others, the hardest part of this job is getting started. Good luck!
@@NoGaragE30 Again thanks! I’ll look for more from you on next project!!
Great video! Very helpful. I just removed my rear deck to install the m audio woofers and I’m thinking about replacing the insulation to reduce some of crayon smell 😂
Thx, was looking for a video like this. Helped me a lot!
Great video man nicely structured and weel
Made video 👍👍
This was great thank you
Excellent video, thanks!
I will be doing a rear suspension replacement this winter on my 2002 530i with fold down seats.
I also have the DSP stereo, factory subs I believe, non-nav business cd unit in the dash, and would like to upgrade somehow to allow aux port, maybe bluetooth, streaming (spotify) etc. I don't have to have the double din nav type unit and haven't found a good option that works with DSP set up, which I gather is very expensive to modify. I also have a dice ipod unit in the trunk I have never used that was installed by PO in 2011, replacing the stock cd changer. It sounds very nice as is, but would upgrade speakers etc. if it made sense with the rear deck opened up. Would be nice to retain ability to play cd's, but not mandatory...
Don't want to spend alot of money, do you or any of your followers have any experience in doing this?
Thanks for the great work!
I have a BlueBus bluetooth device but havent installed it yet. May work with your setup if you want to look into it. www.bluebus.dev/
Very well done thanks
Good video 🙌
Did you wrap your shelve and the rest of the interior, if so what material did you use? Looks nice!
Thats OEM alcantara
I took transmission out of my 530 diesel m sport looks handier than this job lol but nice video well done
Thx bro
Where is the suspension refresh video?
Great video, do you still have the car?
Still have the car and hope to keep it for life.
@NoGaragE30 Great, hopefully you can.
Does your car have IsoFix, as it has the parcel shelf anchors? I am trying to retrofit the IsoFix but can't seem to find any pictures of the lower anchors on a foldable back seat car.
@@Taz_84 It does. Cant see the lower anchors on video though.
@NoGaragE30 I know, I was wondering if you could take a couple of pictures of them for reference. I searched everywhere for pictures but couldn't find any of cars with folding seats.
Wow!! Looking to do a rear shade conversion on my E39 and this video helped a lot!!
Can you please tell me if I can also remove the rear seat belts?
Not required with fold down seats like mine but it would be easy to remove them once you get access.
Help please
Original subwoofer?
What name subwoofer?
Good sound?
Those are original subs included with the DSP audio package.
