- Art and the @EuropeanAutoGroup crew set a goal to convert @HooviesGarage Ferrari 599 into a manual in only 1 day. I didn't think it would be possible, but they accomplished this incredible feat! The only thing left is to do some adjustments after it gets some heat cycles in.

Epic effort and rewarding to see. I had my Toyota Soarer single turbo converted from auto to the Supra Getrag 6 speed some years ago now. Very rewarding shifting gears yourself, especially with a big Ferrari V12.

Yeah, yall made a good point usually vintage car dealerships are tornado proof. They’re usually concrete buildings with dirt mounted up around them so a tornado goes over top. Hopefully they’re adequately paying insurance.

Well it's got quite a few solenoids and lots of hydraulic lines.

Given the intrinsic nature of the beast, it's hard to put a rate on this, but, that being said, if you had to guess, what WOULD be the number of flat-rate hours on something like this?

I think they said that the main part is sold as a used replacement.

Hi , I am based in the uk and thinking of doing a manual conversation to my 599. I am curious to find out whether you think the clutch pedal is really a hard or just average . I watched Doug demoro video on a converted 599 . He commented that the clutch was really heavy . Thanks

Great video and business too. How about selling just the aluminum gate of the 6-speed shifter you put into Hoovie's 599? Bet there are a lot of dreamers out here who would love to have it or a cheaper reproduction for a paper weight, good luck charm or whatever? Put me down for a couple! Thanks. How much weight is saved by switching from the F1 shifter to the 6-speed? Certainly far less complexity and no danger of hydraulic leaks either!
Probably about 20lbs lighter

Just needed to be adjusted. You have to heat cycle it a few times and adjust the linkage to get it dialed in

Friends of ours who have a second house in the Southern California mountains had asked us if we wanted to go up for this weekend. We declined, they didn’t go either, and the whole area has been shut down all weekend by four feet of snowfall. No one is getting in or out. Even the local hospitals are getting worried about their supplies. CalTrans is hoping they can get at least one road reopened tomorrow.
Without watching the video. Isn't the manual conversion just a matter of putting a modual, clutch master cyclinder, etc.. like nothing major needs to be changed because the F1 trans is the manual trans thats been automated?

Honestly, the biggest challenge here was keeping Hoovie distracted and out of the way long enough for the true professionals to ACTUALLY get some work done!

Just because you CAN do something, doesn't necessarily mean you should... And before anyone else can question why, lemme answer with three bulleted points:
1. It was there.
2. We can.
3. It's make GREAT content for UA-cam!!!

amazing job! but yet again, why the need to change gears like an animal?
Think about it. Do you want it tested all soft and slow just so it could possibly not work when shifted hard and fast?
As a mechanic myself, I can guarantee that job would of been so much faster if the customer wasn't standing in your way every ten seconds. Yes, I understand that this was being done for UA-cam.
Just as a general rule, if you are having your vehicle repaired, do not shadow the mechanic. This slows down the process and pisses him off. If you think the mechanic is going to rip you off, why did you go there ? You took the car to the shop. They didn't come to you. And if you think that of every mechanic out there, you can always learn the trade yourself. And maybe try to figure out your trust issues.
I've had customers piss me off so bad getting in my way, while they are not even suppose to be in there. I've actually kicked them out of the shop. Not just the customer, the car as well. We can refuse to work on vehicles. Keep that in mind when you are irritating the mechanic. If you really want to piss them off, tell them that they are doing it wrong because you watched a UA-cam video.
Although you're right, Hoovie really wasn't in the way much.
Hoovie is a customer you want in your way. I'm pretty sure Art would have let Hoovie sit in his lap.

@@MEGLITatUT best in business with 15 drivers' Championships and 16 Constructors' Championships. And 1 out of 2 american champions did it in Ferrari. Also the First F1 car with a paddle shift semi auto matic gearbox was F189 so I think they know what they are doing
