Thank you for posting this. Was forced to migrate today and was having the same issue. Followed your instructions and I'm back up and running. Appreciate you taking the time to make this video!!
You have no idea how grateful I am for your posting. I searched all over the internet and this is the only one provided the meaningful solution. But, I did encounter another problem when I tried to add the 2nd Nest thermostat unit at the very last step; again, I searched all over the internet and someone suggested to reset WWN - do NOT do it: it may mess up more. What I did was removed the first one from the home network and it worked to add the 2nd unit successfully. Then add the 1st one back. Now everything is wonderful.
I was on the phone with Google support for over an hour last night but no luck. I was ready to throw in the towel, but this worked for me too! THANK YOU!!!
THANK YOU so much for this tutorial. Nest & Google have zero information to help their customers after migration. Without your video, I wouldn't know how to set it up. Excellent work!!!
SUPERB tutorial!! after so much researching online and trying so many different methods which didnt work and not getting any response from Google on this mess up , your instructions were simple to follow and spot on. Thank you for this...you have relieved my frustration ten fold. :)
My app has not worked in like a year and I had no idea how to resolve it! I even called nest and they didn’t know. Thank you so much! My app and device are finally connected after the migration!
Thanks for figuring this out. I was struggling with the migration for a few days before finding your video. Your method helped me out alot but I found I didn’t need to delete MyHome in the Google Home app. Basically, I signed out of the Nest app (on my iPhone) and followed your instructions to reset to factory settings on my (Gen 2) Nest Learning Thermostat. Continued with your instructions setup the Nest (wifi etc…), and then sign-on the Nest app with my Google account to sync to the thermostat. Only difference for me is the Gen 2 thermostat does not provide a QR code so you need to choose “other Nest device” in the app and you provide a 7 digit alphanumeric code from the thermostat to input into the app. The thermostat connected to the Nest app and then automagically :) showed up in my Google Home app. Thanks for leading me on the right path!
Thank you. Had the same problem with my parents Nest that I am a family member on. Mine migrated fine there's didn't. I was hesitant to Reset to factory settings because that means starting all over. I had tried all the options like, sign out of App, Sign-in, Restart, Reset, and Restart the modem and router. The key on my end was when it didn't work to try again. It took several attempts. Many Thx.
Had to do the same thing with my Nest Hub. Google completely flubbed this. Forced me to update then it completely blew up. Very disappointed. Thanks for the video.
Great video! I managed to do this without deleting my google home. I created a new google account and used my original account to add the new account to the google home app. Then with the new account I signed up on the nest app using the "sign in with google" option and added the thermostats. This then automatically added the thermostats to the google home app. Hope this helps people that were also struggling.
This was a very helpful tutorial! Did this and it worked 😅. Google screwed the pooch on this one. How hard is it to fix an issue that was happening 3 years ago?!
This is absurd. This is not a solution!! I don’t want to set everything up again! I have at least 10 devices!!!!!!!! Or more with all motion sensors..What was the point of the migration! This is so dumb
Since migrating to Google home my nest now keeps losing changes I make to the schedule and also when I turn off home away assist or learning they keep coming back on and the schedule gets reverted back. Any ideas ?
I had to reset my dns setting to automatic for my cable modem, temporarily disabled the firewall, and reset everything until the thermostat finally correctly connected to the Nest account.

Thank you for this option. After months of struggling with multiple locations and multiple thermostat's - your solution worked!😃

Thank you so much for this video! It worked perfectly after I had done all of this research with no info or help from google!
This fix worked perfectly for my two thermostats. I also had a remote sensor I needed to take out battery and re-install to connect to NEST app.
*Works well in my home **Fastly.Cool*

thank you, too for sharing your experience.
GREAT---IT WORKS!!! Thanks! You should be the top Google/Nest Tech Expert because they clearly screwed the migration up and offered no support.
Thanks that worked for me... Outstanding. I've been in limbo being unable to get entry me key over 7 years. Thanks again. 😎
Can't believe I found ur posting 😆😎👍🏾😎 thanks again!!!
I’m going to purchase a replacement thermostat and it’s not going to be a Nest
Thank you for showing us this fix. Worked perfectly!
Excellent video. MyNest was fixed in about 20”. Thanks!
Thank you so much for posting this!!! I was ready to toss my Nest in the trash can.
Thank you so much! I was ready to rip it off the wall.

Brilliant! This fixed my thermostat! Thank you a lot!
How did anyone follow that? This was the fastest “help” video I’ve ever watched. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ still stuck!

Fingers crossed this works for me. Got an email today saying Alexa won't work after Sept 2023 and so you are now forced to migrate :/
Worked perfectly! Thanks

Ridiculous we have to do this! Just awful.
I had to reset my dns setting to automatic for my cable modem, temporarily disabled the firewall, and reset everything until the thermostat finally correctly connected to the Nest account.
I never got the option to link to my google home
Did you have to reset it to get the QR code?
I am not sure. You can try reset network only.
Where is “Home”?
I think i love you.....
I'm having a hard time hearing you
G
Thanks dude!
