Surprised you did not mention 6-wheeled cars. They redid older models (ex:Fast Gassn) to only have 4. The lack of operating wheels on planes has also disappointed me. MBX $5 planes as well. Glad you are pointing it out. Last one I found was cutting out a roof window in older models (power panel). I thought it was just me who thought the chassis was getting lazy (oval shape).
Side note, I wonder if the fun mainline series (x-raycers, chrome, etc) discontinuing was a result of cost cutting. My personal favorite is glow in the dark. Whatever keeps that around $1 I guess.
Oh yeah, i remember racegrooves mentioned the 5 alarm hotwheels fire truck used to have 6 wheels, now they blanked 2 of the rear wheel in retools to save some money.. kinda sad. golly power panel! i just realized it, they even plastic out the fenders to save cost lmao, it was a big heavy casting
Many older Hot Wheels mainline cars had metal bodies and chassis. Now, the chassis are plastic and the bodies are thin metal. No thank you Mattel. You can keep that garbage. 🙄
back in the 80s they had plastic on plastic, which is the worst, feels cheap and ugly.. now to get metal on metal, they had to do it in the silver series.. even that we had some plastic base too

Yup I keep the funny cars in there packaging opened one recently and it didn’t open up lol
what a shame.. the only way to display them is to open it up and show those awesome engine

absolutely, that's a certain thing.. if only people didn't just focus on the jdm cars only
About 90% of all Hot Wheels cars today are low quality garbage. Most are plastic with some metal parts. Also, have you noticed that Mattel is no longer using diecast metal? That's right, they are using recycled metal. And, if the body is metal, it is very thin, easily crushed with just your fingers. It is actually better to spend a little more money and buy the older Hot Wheels. Also, have you noticed that Mattel is no longer putting the licenced or desirable Hot Wheels cars as part of the mainlines ($1.00 to $1.25)? They are putting those cars in fancy blister cards and charging $3.50 to $6.50 per car. So, subtract $1.25 from the price, and that is how much you are paying extra for the fancy blister card. Only stupid people fall for this clever marketing scam. 🤔
Even the RLC packaging is uglier than hotwheels 100% packaging back in the day hands down, these days probably the golden days of collecting older hotwheels

I look back at my 10 20 and 30 year old hot wheels and they are way better by far in all details...even the new wave of premiums are covered in vacuum formed decals with no hand painted details at all ! even some of the mainlines are better it makes no sense...And the premium 1:43 scale have no opening parts..at 35 dollars your kidding...i can get Jada at a fraction of the price and they are way better...better wheels..better paint opening doors and hood etc...Yep just become a rip off trading on the name only !!!
