About D closing speed, that's been my opinion for at least half of my life. A guy once asked me if the mid '90s Nebraska teams could play a NFL team... The first thing I mentioned was there's difference between 300 pound young amateur men against a 300 pound full grown professional men. Then I mentioned the difference between college and pro defensive closing speed. Tackling "through" a ball carrier changes meaning at the pro level. Though I also opined that maybe if a mid '90s Nebraska team could be paid to stay together some years together, well, never mind.
great point and speaking of closing speed, I don't think most people understand the speed of the game until you have the opportunity to see it up close vs on tv. I'm telling you, these guys are moving...and pursuit speed and driving through someone is on a different level than what I ever did in HS.
The thing is every NFL player has been through a insane assessment process so even with the worst players on a pro roster tend to be better players than all but the best 5-10 players on a top SEC team.
The difference between college and NFL is in the NFL every player is an all American, even a player you don't think is good would be all American in college
@@zregory NFL management whiffs at a higher proportion than someones All American Team. You're favorite pro team might have 20% of non drafted players being payed an NFL salary on it's roster.

If theres 00:01 seconds left on the game. We’re in our own 10 yard line, if I have randy moss, jerry rice, on the outside, and if the defense is rushing 2 d-line men, I’m definitely tearing my ACL, fumbling the ball and it’s being returned for a TD by the defense. Facts.
I’ve had this concept for a tv show for a long time. You take a normal person and put them up against the Pro’s in order to capture the immense gap in speed, strength, size, talent, skill etc.
@@RandallBalls Yeah, but I feel like they'd have to do a few rules. No Oklahoma Drill style. Have about your normal 4 guys on the line, and 4 guys matched up on defense, and have the "runner" do a pitch. Give him 3 days of training with these guys, just to get him into the flow of the play they might run.
I'm 6'1" 235 and fairly athletic... if I gained a yard ... I could only hope I'd wake up in a hospital with working limbs..nfl players are different animals... too big, too strong, too fast
NFL qbs that are smaller than you get crushed by linebackers running full speed on their blindside standing upright every game. I think you’d be fine for 1 play lol
I feel like when people ask these questions about "normal" people in the NFL it's always about athleticism, but I feel like the biggest factor that gets overlooked is the intelligence required to play in the NFL. There is no shortage of super athletic people, but people able to handle the game at the speed of the NFL are few and far between. Trying to gain one yard is not impossible with some luck, but just a normal dude being put out there for a play is going to get read like a book immediately - their eyes, their stance, their mannerisms - that's what leads to a LOSS of yards on a play, forget about a GAIN.
I mean you gotta factor in that Cole Beasley is also an elite athlete lol so sure by measurables he’s average and even below average for NFL standards but he’s trained his whole life in football so it’s still different
Granted I don’t want you both to retire cause love the bash bros but when you do bring back a “pros vs joes” type show. Everyone would watch just because you guys are attached to it let alone the sports fans that want to see it. Love you guys. I’ll take a little royalty/kickback if you decide to do it. lol
It's easily possible but entirely dependant on the OL. Barkley taught us that it doesn't matter how good you are if your OL stinks so does every RB. So on a good OL gain one Yard then drop to your knees and hope you survive this is very viable, if you play on the Bears it's like Dark Souls - Prepare to die edition.
BMI told me I was malnourished when I had an 8-pack in highschool. It also said a friend of mine was obese when he had 8% body fat. BMI is wildly inaccurate at assessing different athletic builds
I remember years ago we used to play pickup football at the park. All the guys were early to mid twenties and in the best shape of our lives. At only 5’6” but solid, I was quick and elusive, with good hands and vision, or at least thought I was. Most of us had the idea we could have played division one in college given the chance. One day a younger kid from my old HS came to play with us. On the opening kick off he outraced everyone down the field and absolutely blew me up. He went on to absolutely destroy everyone on virtually every play. The few times he was tackled it took half a dozen guys to drag him down. On defense, no one could block him and he could run down absolutely everyone from behind. Turns out it was Jared Tomich who would go on to win two national championships with Nebraska and play in the NFL. We all learned a valuable lesson that day.
When I was 12, I played flag football. And one day I picked off a ball in the red zone and ran it back for about 30 yards. Though only for a second, I felt like I was Dion Sanders in all his glory. Proudest moment of my life right there; going on the resume 😂😂
One of my youth highlights was catching a pass and running it for about 55 yards. At the 15 the smallest kid in the grade caught me and jumped on my back, carried him 7/8 yards before another dude got me down at the 5....still salty to this day 💀
@@hammersbaseball11Mine is similar. Was the QB of our 7th grade team. This was late 90s, so needless to say, they didn't really ever let us throw the ball. Offense was 90% Fullback dives with some wing back sweeps mixed in. It was late it a pretty one sided game & coaches knew I was one of the top 5 or so fastest guys on the team. So they call a bootleg keeper, which we'd never practiced & as far as I was aware, wasn't in the playbook. Once I verified the WR that ran the play in wasn't f'n with me I was like "alright this should be interesting". Got around the edge to nothing but a single (very small) CB standing between me & all green daylight. Gave him a bit of a stiff arm & since 7th graders aren't exactly notorious for being sound tacklers, he went down pretty easily lol. I was home free, nothing between me & a 60+ yard TD. Then I heard it. The other team's fastest player was the safety. He went on to be a pretty solid all state player so even at 13 he was 6 feet tall. I learned really quick that day the difference between being decently fast, like myself, & REALLY fast like him. He caught and tripped me up at the 2 yard line. 67 yards just to get shoestring tackled at the 2. I was devastated. Luckily my coaches just called the same play to the other side & I was able to get in the next play for the only TD I ever scored in my football career, but still sucks I was 2 yards away from forever being able to tell people I once went 60+ to the endzone.
When Travis was saying "I have no idea how that's not a tv show".... bro I have no idea how THIS isn't a tv show! Love the content my fellow Ohio brethren 👊
The one yard challenge has been on tv before I believe Marshall lynch was a runner on it and one episode regular people tried tackling him and got rocked all day everyone by him lol and they weren’t just average people the people that signed up were non pro athletes and gym guys and got smoked every episode
I could gain positive yards on a rushing play if the blocking was perfect and the defense wasn't selling out to stop the run. Make a hole and a lot of dudes could burst through for a couple.
I'm a huge gamecock fan big time go to games every yr the first time I saw this man out there on the field he stuck out so bad you could easily tell who he was it was a privilege to watch him live in college
Originating from the Old English surname Kelsey, it can be surmised that Kelce also means "Cenel's island." Cenel, however, has a much cooler connotation that just connection to a couple of towns in Lincolnshire, England; it actually translates to "fierce!" Kelce is a name for fighters, and you can remind baby of that
I am a 6'3 310 pound dude that has been this size since I was 14, and played football in HS at LG, LT, and NT. I'd sign an injury waiver to be on a TV show to see if I can block a DT or rush a LG.
I’m 6’2 and 230lbs. I could get a yard? Maybe but those giant lineman falling on me afterwards is not worth it. Or having a LB who is bigger than me and shredded, destroying me on yard two. Much respect to these guys that do this for a living.
I’m with Travis. You run something with a lead blocker on a down and distance where the defense needs to defend the pass and just about anybody could get a yard. It would be solely due to the OL and lead blocker, but they could get it … provided they get get down. No promises they don’t fumble on the tackle.
I always thought it would be fun if the NFL made their own version of NBA’s “Money Shot from half/full court” with fans. Yet in this case you would win prize money depending on how far you can return a kick… like every yard equals $100 and if you can go all way way, that’s like crazy jackpot winnings. Granted it may be suicide if it was full on contact, but they could introduce “flag football” rules for safety reasons. It be so exciting to see the ridiculousness of an average fan try and return a ball against a practice squad or something at halftime.
I've actually kind of done this. Our friend brought his older brother to turkey bowl. He was a recently retired DB for the Carolina Panthers. He was a special teams guy. I don't think he ever got on the field to play actual defensive snaps. He was an UDFA. I think he stuck in the league for 3 or 4 years. Long enough to get the pension. Anyway it wasn't a regular guy trying to pick up 1 yard against an entire field of NFL players. It was 1 NFL player who thoroughly dominated an entire field of regular guys. We couldn't catch him. We couldn't cover him. We couldn't run away from him. He literally scored a TD on every play. The game was so uncompetitive and not fun, that we made him play all time QB for both teams. He also wasn't allowed to take off and run.
The real question isn't whether the average person could gain 1 yard, but whether the average person could hold on and not fumble when they get rocked
They would fumble
Or play more than one down without getting injured lol.

@@gregorymorrow5308 non drafted players that would be All Americans in college.....
You guys need to watch the video of normal dudes trying to tackle Ricky Williams. Its a real wake up call for anyone thinking they could play with the big boys.
I can get at least 3 running behind our O line 😂
The Bears are my team. Behind our line I’ll get -3 😭
I actually went to high school with Clowney and if he’s on the other side the average person is definitely not getting a yard😂
that’s on the blockers
I think one yard mainly depends on your o line but anymore is being really good
Id have life changing injuries after one game
I just found this podcast/channel....AWESOME. I don't like Philly or KC, but I LOVED Jason's Super Bowl parade speech...not sure how hammered he was, but it was brilliant. You two are funny...keep it up and remember....A Mean dog is a hungry dog. Now go have breakfast!
Huge bengals fan here. Live outside of cincy. I ama fan of you both as players. Just not when your playing my bengals. But love the podcast. It's very entertaining and informative and offers interesting takes.
Pros vs Joes (Spike TV) back in the days
Its been done
Yeah. It's called pros vs Joe's lol
The “Pros” were old retired dudes. Try it with current players and let’s see some fatalities 🤷🏻♂️
I love how much you boys love your dad.
“That’s when you meet Derwin James” sounds, and probably is for my tiny self, like a euphemism for dying
"...on me faster than i could get my arm out there."
tru dat!
I'm 6'1" 235 and fairly athletic... if I gained a yard ... I could only hope I'd wake up in a hospital with working limbs..nfl players are different animals... too big, too strong, too fast
You might even get 2 yards behind the eagles line, just pick an all-pro or pro bowler to follow
NFL qbs that are smaller than you get crushed by linebackers running full speed on their blindside standing upright every game. I think you’d be fine for 1 play lol
Hey guys. Thank you for your show. Good luck this weekend. Enjoy the ride.
That was a TV show! Pros vs Joes. So great.
Reminds me of Pro’s vs Joe’s from back in the day. I loved that show
I think absolutely. Cole Beasley is 170 5’8. I’m sure he could rush for a yard, so why not an average person? Obviously it wouldn’t be fun though.
I mean you gotta factor in that Cole Beasley is also an elite athlete lol so sure by measurables he’s average and even below average for NFL standards but he’s trained his whole life in football so it’s still different
But Beasley was working.. at his JOB!
Cole Beasley is definitely heavier than 170. He looks about 185 minimum.
Cole Beasley is also a top tier athlete lol, much stronger snd faster than the average person
Granted I don’t want you both to retire cause love the bash bros but when you do bring back a “pros vs joes” type show. Everyone would watch just because you guys are attached to it let alone the sports fans that want to see it. Love you guys. I’ll take a little royalty/kickback if you decide to do it. lol
Use this as a ‘ Bring back pros vs. joes with the Kelce Bros as the hosts’ button
Love this podcast! You two are hilarious!
There was a show about average people going against pro athletes. It was Pros vs. Joes and it was glorious.
No dumb questions 🫡
Bring back that Pros vs Joes show! Try these out!
The fact that the AVERAGE BMI of a 20 year old man in America is apparently 29 is pretty wild
I've never spent a day of my life with more than 18% bodyfat and I'm apparently "overweight" according to my BMI
Screw the BMI
^
BMI told me I was malnourished when I had an 8-pack in highschool. It also said a friend of mine was obese when he had 8% body fat. BMI is wildly inaccurate at assessing different athletic builds
Bmi is useless
I think you guys were describing a show called Average Joes that used to come on Spike TV.
In this scenario does the average person have insurance
How is this not a show?
It was. It was called Pros vs. Joe's.
Shockingly, the Joe's got rocked all the time.
Bring back pros vs joes and answer these questions in real life
I'll be in Kansas city this Sunday!!!!! Lets go chiefs!
Yes, go Chiefs!
“Do we even know what we are???” 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Is he gonna still be alive after gaining that one yard though? 😂
"Do we even know what we are?"" HAHAHA killing me.
Let’s go boys 🇨🇦 👍
When Travis was saying "I have no idea how that's not a tv show".... bro I have no idea how THIS isn't a tv show! Love the content my fellow Ohio brethren 👊
The one yard challenge has been on tv before I believe Marshall lynch was a runner on it and one episode regular people tried tackling him and got rocked all day everyone by him lol and they weren’t just average people the people that signed up were non pro athletes and gym guys and got smoked every episode
The average person doesn't have vision which makes things very difficult. Begs the question do you teach them vision and scheme.
I could gain positive yards on a rushing play if the blocking was perfect and the defense wasn't selling out to stop the run. Make a hole and a lot of dudes could burst through for a couple.
@Roy Munson I didn't watch the entire video before I answered the question. Yes basically what they said.
I'm a huge gamecock fan big time go to games every yr the first time I saw this man out there on the field he stuck out so bad you could easily tell who he was it was a privilege to watch him live in college
This fits with the quote from a couple weeks ago that Travis said Andy Reid could draw up a scheme to their dad a first down
someones gotta show travis kelce pros vs joes. classic show and close enough to what he was talking about when talking about a tv show
I’d love to try that show!! That would be a blast.
There used to be this show back in the day called “pros vs joes” with the same premise
“They weren’t doing their homework on Polish last names”
“What, are we Polish?”
“I don’t know man”
😂😂😂
Originating from the Old English surname Kelsey, it can be surmised that Kelce also means "Cenel's island." Cenel, however, has a much cooler connotation that just connection to a couple of towns in Lincolnshire, England; it actually translates to "fierce!" Kelce is a name for fighters, and you can remind baby of that
Jerrion Ealy played for a school much larger than ours, he came off the bus, ran 3 plays, scored a td, and went back to the bus. lmfao
Possibly if Larry Allen was your blocker.
I am a 6'3 310 pound dude that has been this size since I was 14, and played football in HS at LG, LT, and NT. I'd sign an injury waiver to be on a TV show to see if I can block a DT or rush a LG.
Let’s go Yeti and Batman win in the conference championships we need a Kelce Kelce SB
Remember when Jared Allen hit Johnny Knoxville? It was nuts. Car crash.
It was a tv show. Pros vs Joes. They did it with multiple sports.
You guys need to make this a reality show . Average person trying to rush for a yard against nfl defense
It kinda was a show Travis, pros vs Joe's. Actually a pretty entertaining show.
Never in my life would I have signed up to carry the ball in an NFL game. I would be carted off 100%.
Kyle Shanahan could get an average person to average 40 yards/game
Jason is beyond funny, he interrupts constantly 😂
they had a show Joes vs Pros back in the day. It would be nice to see it come back.
I’m 6’2 and 230lbs. I could get a yard? Maybe but those giant lineman falling on me afterwards is not worth it. Or having a LB who is bigger than me and shredded, destroying me on yard two. Much respect to these guys that do this for a living.
“ do we even know what we are “ 😅😂
Bring back that joes vs pros tv show shit was electric
The Kelce bros just discovered the blueprint of Pros vs Joes
I’ll probably forget the handoff and run 10 yards after the whistle
Man I love you guys you crack me up
You guys are hilarious just watched y’all before work
