It's time people stop being cynical and give Taylor the credit she deserves. She is a phenomenal pop songwriter. Her mark on music history spans almost 2 decades now. She is undeniable.
I love Taylor, I love her music. Congratulations Dr Taylor Swift; well deserved. Taylor is always so funny, kind, and knowing. She has experienced a lot in her young life.

I couldn't go University because I am poor. But how come a lot of people who are studying there have to listen to a woman who never went to University and never underwent the difficulties of studying!

What took them four years, she has expienced 17 years in one of the toughest, competitive businesses in the world. With her success based on the whims of a fickle public with backstabbers trying to ruin her hard earned career.
Are you discounting someone's life experience to a college degree. Taylor earned her Honorary degree through the school of hard knocks. She can advice the students they will have ups and downs, but it is up to them to live their dreams for themselves.
I love listening to Taylor speak she is funny, insightful and real to herself and her millions of fans of which I am one. But you do you. Taylor's speech was fun, insightful, and heartfelt. Made me cry, knowing what kanye west and his evil wife tried to do to her career. Now the two of them have turned on each other.

Because she never went to college, and there are people out here who spend thousands of dollars taking these classes, and working hard for exams and research to obtain a degree. She gets the degree for free without doing that. It's an insult to those who actually spend 4-6 years to obtain a doctorate's degree. It's the celebrity privilege. People calling us "jealous" are probably young or never been to college.

@@remycampued1453 She never went to college that’s true. But that doesn’t mean she didn’t earn the honorary doctorate degree with good reason. It’s HONARARY for a reason. It’s wayyy harder to get an honarary doctorate degree than a normal one. You have to prove it to them that u deserve it.

As a 50 something who is in the final stages of completing my phd. It has been an 8 year journey working full time and raising my son. Families sacrifice time and earn that degree alongside you. I find this a bit "cringe."

please don’t discredit her songwriting abilities. she has written every song she has ever released. and her parents are certainly not billionaires. yes she did have an advantage, but that does not make it easy for her to succeed in the way that she has in the music industry, growing up in the spotlight for 15 years.

Her parents supported her dream but were and are not billionaires, and as a reminder, you can have all the money in the world, but it doesn't buy you talent. Her songs are largely from how she sees life through her own lens. Her comments here are from experience. She is a lovely young woman who has made her own way against many critics. I don't begrudge her the success, because she worked hard, and is a great role model for young girls. For what its worth, even if she did have the best songwriters in the world, which in itself is a stupid statement, the best songwriters in the world wouldn't work with her if they didn't think she was a true talent. They wouldn't want to risk being associated with a failure. Clearly, she has good advisors and entrepreneurial ability. Be happy for her, rather than be jealous and stupid. I'm sure she has heard it all before, but she would rather be associated with positive people instead of complainers that have no talent either. Haters are always going to hate, you know.
