i’m a HUGE melanie fan TRUST ME but After School sounded like a quarantine EP (which i’m pretty sure it was) idk i feel like for the amount of time we’ve waited and just how lazy it sounds IMO, i don’t think it was that great. the instrumentals sound like she went to youtube and typed “melanie martinez type beat free for profit” 😭 i’m sorry for dragging her but this EP just wasn’t it IMO but i Lovvveee the cover for it and The Bakerry is a bop ngl Numbers and Notebook are kinda cute too
Only some of it was recorded during 2020 tho! She started writing a lot of these songs in 2017 and I don’t think they were in production until sometime in 2019. I mean definitely not the best work of her career so far, but I still really love it. I think the greatest aspect of the EP was the fact that the songs were more personal and didn’t have anything to do with Cry Baby’s storyline!
