    Lizard skin is by far the best that I've tried. I put it on all of my sticks, and it gives me that perfect feel for the silky mitts.

    I really like the way the lizard skin grip feels in the hand, good soft grip like its a really soft rubber and the buttends is alright too but the thing I cant get over is it really dulls the feel of the puck to me. My go to is split the tape and half and build up a buttend that is somewhere between 3/8" to 1/2". Then do the candy cane twisted tape under the final wrap and keep it spaced wide. I get that elastic grip tape like that powerflex you showed but the Howies or Renfrew brand and do a very thin wrap job with it to go over the twist, I haven't seen abnormal wear from using it, left hand is a little more worn since I'm a righty too but that's inevitable but its not really bad. Nothing I tried beats that and I always go back to it after trying something else. I really like the lizardskin and wanna use it exclusively but can't get over the dulled puck feel, its an ongoing conflict with myself.

    I have used the Buttendz and the Lizard skin and both are great but the Lizard Skin fell apart after two after about 15 games. Once your hand goes against the grain on the Lizard Skin it starts to fall apart pretty quick. The Buttendz has a issue in BC, Canada where with all the moisture in the air in the winter causes the grip to shift around when you store your stick in your truck or garage. It really defeats the purpose of being reusable when you have to glue it and the price is just too much. I started using the Tacki-mac after using hockey tape and will be going back to it again once I have to replace my stick.

    I used Lizard Skin a long time ago and thought that it was too thick when I had to wrap it over itself. I might try it again. I usually use the Future version of the Buttendz. I find that the Buttendz is reusable, no issue switching it to other sticks. It can be a pain to get the Buttendz on, but you need to watch their video on how to install it and remove it. I also tried Tacki-mac a long time ago. I found it really difficult to remove. I could never get the hair spray to work, so I had to use their adhesive which is super strong and makes the grip extremely difficult to remove, not to mention leaves horrible residue.

    You should really check the brand tacki-mac, the "wrap texture" model especially because this is the grippiest and thinnest i could find out there. All the other models are kinda too bulking and you get a spongy feel to your stick. And the tacki-mac is also pretty cheap, like 5-10$

    I pull an arms length of tape and twist it until it resembles a string. I wrap this string descending around the end of the stick. I am careful to space each wrap of the string so that my fingers naturally fall in the gaps between wraps. Now I tape over this string of tape in the opposite direction until I reach the end of the stick. I'm not done. I want a knob. I wrap layers of tape until I know that the girth of the knob I have created is large enough that I can easily pick up the stick if I drop it. Now I cover the entire tape job with sock tape to protect my gloves.
    Not only have I never had an issue with grip using this method, my gloves last waaaaay longer and unless you decide to shorten your stick your tape job will easily outlive your stick.

    • @beerleaguebumhockeyreviews
      @beerleaguebumhockeyreviews  Рік тому

      Sock tape alone for me has zero grip and feels so slippery I have to use a skin or grip tape on top of the sock one

    • @calenlaughlin3132
      @calenlaughlin3132 Рік тому

      @@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Sock tape is the opposite of grip. I use it as an outer-layer for the sole purpose of extending the life of my gloves. The grip comes from the protruding ribs of tape underneath the cheapskate layer on top. I should have also mentioned that I've only ever used ordinary stick tape for the base layer. If you double it up it provides a certain mushy quality that allows the hand to sink into it. I've never experienced a slip or a twist.
      Anyhow, the core of my point is that if you take your time (5 mins?LOL) you can create a grip specifically tailored to your own hand with duct tape or electrical tape or string and glue. Nobody will force you to add sock tape at the end.
