  • When I first started backpack hunting I didn't have rain pants. Guess what, most of us start out that way. Then you spend enough time with a sogging wet ass from sitting in snow or hunting in the rain to decide $150 is worth it to not feel like you're on the brink of death. Enter the OR Foray Pants. They aren't made in the US and the only thing they have for amenities are side zips and a rear pocket. But as far as amenities go, that's all you need in a rain pant that will keep you dry and a little more comfortable when you need it.

I have an old pair of Mammut rain pants that i love. Full zip, pockets, crotch zipper. However, my belly outgrew them and Mammut doesn't seem to make them anymore. I am leaning toward the OR Forays. Curious what else you looked at and why you picked these over the other options.

I picked these cause they were a solid entry level rain pant. They’re cheaper than other options, have just enough features like cinches at the waist and ankle cuffs, and they’re lightweight. There are nicer pairs out there having crotch ventilation and more than just one pocket, but they weigh and cost more. I still have these and get by with them.

How tall are you, and what’s your waist size? And what size pant are these? I’m taller but skinny. I’d hate to order the wrong size.

I’m 5’11” around 155 lbs, got these in size large. Little baggy when just worn with a base layer but I sized them to fit over my hunting pants - they have a good waist cinch so they’re adjustable there
