I was wondering if Lowco will manage to complain about baneling nerf in a matchup without zerg. Yes, he did 😂 Only one time instead of normal ten, but still
His baneling comment was perfectly relevant to the situation, but since you are unable to even spell his name correctly, one can hardly expect you to understand that.

I was considered old when the game came out. It's impressive what the community did and all the younger players joining, keeping the game at what it's at - with limited support from blizzard! StarCraft boomer here: I remember when the new expansion for my then-favorite game (behind maybe Caesar III which had just come out), StarCraft, came out, called "Brood War". I asked my mom to take me to the nearest Circuit City or Fry's Electronics (can't recall) and I picked up the CD for Brood War with my allowance money and came home and was amazed at the new stuff in SC Brood War... Dark Archons with mind control! Corsairs to disable pesky spore colonies. Lurkers with their cool spines, finally Zerg had a siege unit! Medics for Terran meant Terran units could finally heal! And the neatest thing of all to 8-year-old me: snow maps!
And Valkeries, so cool!! Yes I remember too. It was Comp USA for me (no longer in business). I used to hang around and play Brood War on their demo computers while my mom would shop. It was very exciting when we got a new PC that could run it. Oh, good memories. Thanks for sharing. 😊

Every now and again you see a player who takes a quantum leap in skill/game play, and they make the game look almost effortless to play. No erratic unit movement. No critical mistakes or errors. They go into full 'Rain Man' mode. Clem is my new Rain Man.
this is where people accuse CLEM of taking PEDs that was NUTS. ive never seen maru look that helpless
I remember buying SC2 as well. I was staff on two Starcraft forums that don't exist anymore in the mid 2000s, and we had so many threads theorycrafting on what SC2 could do in terms of gameplay and story. Then came the announcement and we all doubled down. I actually bought a game magazine I'd never heard of before, because it came with a bonus CD showing a sneak peak at some new Protoss units, including the Soul Hunter and the original Tempest that was basically an anti-ground Carrier.
I feel older and older with every passing year Lowko. I keep looking over my shoulder and the Grim Reaper is a little bit closer each time I look.
My brothers played the original and brood war, but I never got to play bc I was too young. I remember when SC 2 was announced, and I kept checking the website for updates on what units were going to be in the game. I didn’t really follow it until last year, but I remember being so excited for it to come out bc the original was so fun to watch.
It might be nice when you cast a best of 2 to mention the total map score that the teams got. Or at least the two teams that they compete on and the past team outcomes (which team is favored etc). Also maybe explain how many members play per team and how they break 2+2 = 2+ 2 ties
and talk about how the scores affect the larger battle of the tourny as a total
Jokes aside, Clem had always insane micro and stuff but now he plays masterpiece after masterpiece
i think he might take the world championship this year! serral has been looking way too human lately
I've been very impressed with his macro and defensive play lately. Of course in addition to his already legendary micro
@@rhyguy6260 Clem just lost to Maru-Dark-Oliveira and MaxPax in span of 3 days, so I wouldnt be so sure about putting such expectation on him just yet.

I actually prefer the new Cyclone.
I remember watching my brother play through the SC2 campaign when it came out, I was like 7😂
Before that, my brother introduced me to SC1, which I immediately got hooked on😂, facing off against the AI and killing everything was the best feeling 😅

I think we're the same age, Lowko (30 in 2024)... I remember buying the Wings of Liberty boxed set back when Blizz still made 'em
I had all boxes, was grumpy as heck that they released 3 games to finish the story... the friend passes they gave and a few other treats too.
but he's 1992, he even mentioned that when SCII:WoL came out he was ~18yo, it came out in 2010, -18=1992, we are old but not THAT old, rofl

@@Nazz-b7p Ugh, yeah I'm still salty about that. $180 for the full game of StarCraft 2 for people who didn't wait to get it all when Legacy of the Void came out. Classic new-age Blizzard to milk us for everything we're worth... Mean while SC1 and Brood War combined were like $60...

There are things I like about both versions of the Cyclone. The old one had impact and a specialty (good against armored units and buildings, as uThermal proved time and time again by deleting Hatcheries in seconds in Cyclone Widow Mine to GM), but always felt too squishy for the investment needed (Tech Lab requirement meant you would never see them in large numbers). The new one is more all-rounded and isn't as easily countered by just burning the lock-on cooldown, but it doesn't feel like it gets the job done anywhere near as well as the old one, even considering the changes to cost and such.
The old Cyclone has its role as an early game defensive unit against small push and/or drop. Their weakness is the lack of production, can only be made one at a time with a Tech Lab. New Cyclone has insane DPS, and can me produced twice as fast with cheaper cost. They will lose the value in the midgame because of the low HP and shorter range.
For the new cyclone, I find battle mech openers extremely viable for lower level players in TvZ. Not sure you can only look at the cyclone from the professional lens.

Maru went for additional cyclones. If clem tried to kill the barrecks then his cyclones lock onto the barrecks and maru cyclones will come in and lock onto his cyclones
You can’t run away cause they can move and shoot and since clem went for a fast 3 cc he has no defense at home
I liked the old cyclone, but how the new cyclone changes have affected the meta and is now playable for mass cyclone is super fun in the lower league play
Sadly I dont expect mass Cyclone in pro-scene past the early game stage.

People react to ONE series and act like its the trend is just weird. Maru and Clem traded series in 2023, and Maru beat him the latest time they met, but you acting like Clem is beating him 10 times in a row or something.
Of course TvT is Clem's worst matchup, he simply doesn't have good enough Terran opponents over in EU to fully hone his skills. Against Zerg he has both Serral and Reynor, hence his TvZ is top notch. Against Protoss he has MaxPax and to a lesser extent ShowTime, so all good on that front too. Against Terran however? HeroMarine is his toughest competition but he's nowhere near Clem's skill level at this point.
The new version of the cyclone I like conceptually, but I think it needs a slight buff and more cyclone play will be with. For instance, increase range by 1, and I bet it would immensely become more useful

Well, it certainly feels that way. Back then Serral was outplaying big name players like it’s not even close, exactly as Clem is doing now.
Well, Serral has singlehandedly caused Zergs to receive nerf after nerf after nerf. At some point it was inevitable that the nerfs would finally succeed at their job at nerfing Serral... Terran never had a Serral so they still get away with murder. Maybe now Clem will finally be good enough to actually trigger some very long overdue Terran nerfs.

As to cyclones, well Terrans realised quite soon they're quite bad against Zerg and Protoss after the patch (they weren't good either) but they are now really good and cheap and a quick counter to reaper shit plus they are very dangerous against workers. The old cyclone was mainly good because of the range, which is sometimes quite missing, vs Oracles for example

If I'm not mistaken it was WTL SG - World Team League 2023 Winter in Shanghai, all I had to do was to check latest tournaments on Team Liquid's forum. Bo2 is not so popular to have issues to recognize this tournament

@@nadademamaditas 2v2 was a mistake, I meant Bo2 but being high doesn't help write exactly what you mean 🤣it's still WTL SG and the point is if everything would be as it should be I would be very different man, in very different place, doing very different thing. Life is often disappointing.

Clem has consistently beat Serral for like 1.5 years now.
I miss the old Cyclops, it was pricy to lose but it had nice range on lockon.
The new cyclons are basically a mech carbon copie of the marrine, the original hell of Terran sice the begines!
I prefer the new cyclone. The 2 clone medavic drop is deadly even vs toss and some players are using that.
Also holding roach rushes is a lot easier.
Well i can only speak from a mere diamond perspective and for me the new cyclone is easier to use and fastee to get. I love it.
the new Cyclone give Terran a huge power boost in early game with great DPS, good range and decent cost. They are like Blink Stalker that can be a great harassment tool, allow map control but will be completely outclassed by the other upgraded units. The question is, do you want to give Terran another harassment tool that can just snowball into an early win?

TvT should use more Widow Mines. TvT don't really scan each other, and it should just kill stimmed marines outright. Also there are no melee units so no friendly fire either.

im 23 and i do competitive swimming and i am AN OLD MAN oh my god. i even get hit with "you cant get away with that at your age" and stuff like that now. i feel so old

Long range was better, people put more respecc on terran bases.

I wouldn't say "wipe the floor", those were a good games, but Clem was obviously better.
I prefer the old cyclone from a design perspective. I kept hearing about how the new cyclone is gonna be imba and it's just like... A wet noodle.
I main Protoss so my opinion here isn't exactly important, but I thought the old one was better.

by no means a pro here, but I've seen T go 1-2 banshees instead of cyclones, i think because A) zerg only has queens/spores for early anti-air, so its less risky than fighting ground-to-ground, especailly since cyclones are made of paper, and B) if the Z fakes out/changes plans for the roach all-in, the banshee(s) are still really useful for harassing mineral lines. (versus a full counterattack, or even a medi drop with 2 cyclones has such a slow time-to-kill for a drone its easy for a good player to save each one with the spore trick, plus it cancels lockon)
@@cynder7949 you’re right you don’t see the cyclones much. Because they hard countered that low count roach rush dark was doing. It looked nearly indefensible for a minute and I think they actually did the cyclone change to prevent that early 6-8 roach rush from taking over the game. That’s my theory. The cyclone sits on the shelf as a deterrent to that bullshit roach cheese.

anyway, age really does affect you, once you're over 25. Things change. You really have to work for what those in HS just did.. physical and mental prowess. Probably spelt that wrong...

Maru get caught two times with the same strat, its weird maru never anticipated that kind of drop,.
it seems like recently players just gg when their winning percentage goes below 30% as if they are an ai or something. Guess that is why we dont see long games like it used to in former sc1 and sc2.

Double baneling nerf with widow mine buff the worst thing ever
Main switched to T. See you on ladder as I sit in dia with 47 apm by plopping 3 diff siege units in random locations with 0 effort or apm as I blow up your entire army. Snipe group of cyclones and bcs using about 50% of my apm, about 25 to just constant slightly range retreat for free poke kills.
Trying to get my apm down to 40 but it’s been hard in dia to be there, I’m 47-50 usually. I can sit on 40 or less in plat usually. Having trouble figuring out how to keep rank and drop apm.
I think if I just snipe retreat to walls I can do even less.. not sure.
Anyway, I’m always thankful to blizz for making T lol. Why try hard as Z or P when you can kick back and watch Netflix as immortal stalker blue bubble armies just die to some tanks and mines, or full macro round ling roach hydra die to the same few tanks and mines.
Used to struggle as Z keeping up with quick splitting, leapfrogging vision etc while still losing some, and also having to deal with 3 simul rine drops.. why do all that when you too can be the one who presses E, select it, click it to where you want it to go, press e again for 4 actions.. over lord movement and pull back so you don’t get hit, select one ling to sac, select the rest and move, leapfrog vision so lings don’t get hit by second obvious mine behind it, watch minimap. It is a bit more than 4 actions to handle this one garbage can.
Made the best decision of my SC2 time when switching to T. It’s seriously life on ez mode. Anyone gold or plat, stop what you’re doing, and switch to T. I play on my laptop and use the trackpad… obviously you can apm whore too and go full bio. In essence, think grow Zerg and play it as T. Tank mine lib are your creep that aggro, and cruise around looking for snipe poke kills. Easiest rank you’ll ever get.

And yet this week Master's Coliseum 7 , he beats Clem 2-1, Serral 2-0, Dark 2-0. F logic.

I disagree it's "anti climactic" format, I'm finding it more interesting than bo3 for example. Often you see best of three cast, where whole video is for example 30 minutes long, the first game takes 22 minutes. And you're ending up with 8 minutes of the video, you already know the winner of the series before end of the video. Here I'm always interested until the end

New cyclone is boring. They watered down everything that made the old unit interesting. There should have been minor tweaks to the old version to address whatever balance issues existed. The redesign was a fail.
