I always used the speedup hand signal.....left fist straight up then pump up and down like blowing an air horn in truck or train
Your group should know when to ride single file or staggered
Most important is using hand or foot to point at hazards in the road
Groups learn to communicate yourselves, because there is no universal signals
For example there was a push to call laying your helmet on the ground upside down means I need help.........and every time I saw that I countered with if I need help I will use the universal signal.....jumping up and down waving my hands above my head
2 sec, obviously as you speed up the distance gets greater as you slow down it gets less........with bikes 2 sec isn't necessary, 1.5 easy (riding with people you know) with a bike you can easily see what's ahead for the rider in front of you.......when in town close it up, make your group as compact as possible
Don't you hate it when you are behind 3 cars with passing zones barely long enough to pass 1, and car number 2 won't pass..........remember that when riding in a group......I have many times been in group going slower than a decent car driver caan go, and the group is too big for them to pass ......... make room and motion for them to pass

I recall there being a hand signal for times when the guy behind you flys around and cuts you off….. hmmmmmm. I just cant remember. Something tells me Chuck will know!
