Hello 👋 Trish. How are you doing? Hope you are fine. I'm Mark Clifford and am from Denver Colorado, where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
Grew up in St John's Michigan moved to Texas in 81 Auto industry was on a steady decline from the late 70's " oil crisis" my dad worked 30+ at Motor Wheel , I was working there in 78 and got laid off they were getting people with 25 +
Im in Michigan too, my dad works for a car plant, my grandpas both made cars or car parts, my great grandpas too. There will be new union negotiations woth stelantis soon. I hope our auto industrey doesnt get worse again, or ends up needing too go through woth the strike.
Thanks for telling these boys stories!!! I'm a third generation miner, they all worked in coal before me, but the mines shut down in 2016 and 600 guys lost good jobs! Dad and I were lucky enough to snag a job at an underground limestone mine. God bless all ya'll hard working American men
I hope all of you are safe. Whenwhile... we in the US stop mining, adjutant down coal plants & praises China for their supposed "green energy'. They just built 3 new coal plants with 6 more slated. I just don't get people like AOC. Where in hell do they think energy chines from to fuel their precious EVs? The wall? Oh yeah! She did say that!
This video just came to me today !! 😢 It's a Wonderful example of what happens under democrat-led leadership. It was an intentional kill of Industry that supported this state!!! 😢 Now their plan is to kill off every state in the U.S. just like MI. 😢 I wonder if thats what It's going to take to wake the dumb-ass Am. up to the evil going on in this country ??? WAKE THE F**K UP AMERICA!!! 😢😢😢
I loved hearing you talk about the Bible. I thank God that I belong to a REAL Bible preaching church. My Pastor preaches nothing but the Bible like it or not. He can't worry if it hurts someone's feelings. Great song and Jesus is coming for sure. We are living in some wicked times and if ppl study the Bible they will see the times we are living in..written in black and white
Where’s a Christian find those real Bible teaching preaching churches these days. Not big ole tabernacles but a real down to earth country God loving church? 😮
There were days that I would blare this song from my car, wondering if my hometown would ever recover. I started as a contract worker for Ford in 2002 and was laid off in 2010. My dad worked for GM for 17 years before his group was cut. My father in law worked for a tier 1 supplier for 25 years and wasn't spared. Around 2009-2011, it was a dark time here in Detroit, and no one paid attention because we were all a bunch of "overpaid slob factory workers". No one could understand that we were family men, working to earn our keep, watching the jobs go overseas and in some cases, training our H1B replacements. To this day, I love this song. Dad is back to work at GM. Father in law retired after working for Gleaners Food Bank. And I'm a Paramedic. You can't shut Detroit down. We might not come back as clean or glamorous as before, but we'll come back. Thank you for this song. It still means a lot to me, and to the millions of affected Detroiters still fighting to come back.
@@jenniferevans4785 jajaja as if Trump cares about us Hoi Polloi blue collar boys. He's a New York billionaire. I refused to vote for him in 16 and he 100% earned my vote in 20. Him being better than 99% of politicians doesn't make his shits smell like roses. The average wages these UAW workers received for B/C quality work without fear of firing was crazy! In 1980, these workers got $16-22 (the average UAW worker received a little more than double the salary of an average factory worker and did less work) an hour plus benefits! Look me in the face and tell me I deserve to be paid $70 an hour as a B quality night shift factory worker. That is 3 to 6 times (WITH INFLATION) the salary of a night shift CNA (my former job I am not allowed to perform) I make the same base pay as a guy with a couple decades experience in 1980 in 2022
I love this song and I think that my hometown Detroit has come back big time and the lions are about to put the city on their backs and win a superbowl n the next couple years
And those of us across the river in Canada that have worked to help supply for those of you working in Detroit automotive we understand and have been affected too. I still come back to this song and remind people of this especially when the same stuff is going on again with bailouts and bonuses 2020-present
Music video definitely gets me every time. My grandpa who is 78 years old worked out in the oil fields for 40 years at the same place just gettin by. Loved his job. One day a year or so back they just fired him one day because he could be replaced by someone younger and cheaper. Spent a good 6 months on the verge of losing the farm. It's not much that we have here but the man has been here all his life and was born in the bedroom he sleeps in. But i have to thank god because it worked out. He ended up getting a job with an old friend of his at another lease his friend owns. Still fills me with a mix of pain and anger for how the world is nowadays. Makes me fear what I'll see in my lifetime and what kind of world my daughter will be living in.
Wow ! This is what’s happening, still. I lost my job after years of dedicated work. So hard when your older. Tx John for writing lyrics that speak the Truth!!
This song/video brings tears to my eyes. The men and women who built this country are treated like this in real life. We should raise up and praise those who came before us, who gave us the freedom we get to enjoy. Thank you John Rich for telling this story!
@@nathand8300 No, there's not enough blame to go around even if we stretch it thin. This is the result of electing liberals. Liberals compromise on every good policy and always sympathize and support enemies of the U.S.
John Rich also wrote 'Amarillo Sky', which is a similar message from a farmer's perspective. Great songs, both of them. Thank you, John for still being 'the only John Wayne left in this town'. America First.
Kris is an amazingly talented musician, writing hits for himself, and others to play. ACM awards, Golden Globe, and so many others. Just a great individual, frankly.

i felt that way when i got let go at pratt and whitney aircraft payroll department winter 1992. i worked with very good people. the were so good that they surprised me with a pot luck luncheon and gifted me a shirt with my name on it and the words prince of payroll. and i knew very little about hourly salary paymaster and retirement services i had to learn from the nuts and bolts and a few view of aircraft jet engines and i had the pleasure to help others on team payroll wherever i could. i learned a lot. i used my information technology skills and problems solving abilities i did my best with the best and dealt with the not heads and a couple of dim wits but that is life. i got lucky. i knew i was on the chopping block a day before it happened my co-worker called me first to go to a class for him because he had to take his daughter back to college from a winter break and we were having a major snow event. i said no problem we are a part of team payroll who came from it to help support moving from a home grown payroll system methodology to and bought payroll package. we were brought it from different it teams to work with the payroll it teams the payroll specialists in hourly salary and every one to make pwa payroll to run. mike said he had to check with the bosses and would call me back. after he got approval. he called me back in the evening and said he did not get approval because they wanted everyone in the office. that was my clue that i would be one of the pwa- people walking away from pratt and whitney aircraft up up and away into the wild blue yonder. i had lots of time to think about it. i knew the lead of hourly payroll was a decorated vietnam war veteran was going to the highest pay grade to be let go. he knew his job and tolerated no bs especially anyone who did not know their job and that included management. i did not see the happening when the director of finance told mr. godbout that he was let go. i suspect some words that could make a us navy sailor blush blood red were said and security escorted him to his desk to pack up personal belongings a vacate the building. i was the next highest ranked labor grade to go. i think my dad"s dutch commando experience came into play. i took it like a man and accepted that my number was up. i bit my tongue and shook the directors hand and that i understood it was a numbers game and that's the way it goes. i wished him well and was escorted to a conference room to discuss mandatory transition procedures and service. i accepted there was help to navigate my first let go from a job. i was dismissed but when i saw others from the team and the bitterness in their eyes or was it headlights in a deer's eyes, i stayed to ease the shock and pain of joblessness worthless and self doubt and why me . i guess i pulled up my big boy panties that were below my prince of payroll shirt and had to carry the emotion that was gifted and given by team members. i cried on the inside there are going to be uncomfortable changes that's life get one and deal with. it is over 30 years now. and as generic cousin hank williams jr sings a country boy can survive. i did and hopefully i am a better man. only god knows and i will have to deal with it on judgement day when god transitions me from american with life earth citizenship to whatever god has in store for life after earth.
This song should have been as big as Alan Jackson's "Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning". Absolutely crisp, bitter and John delivers his star punch.
Man, what a powerful song... Detroit was once at a population of almost 2 million people. Now it's down to less than 700,000 residents. I've lived here most of my life and I still have a hard time believing that the automotive industry used to pretty much make everything in Detroit and now most things are made in other countries and other states... Detroit has truly lost its middle class. Nowadays, you're either a have, or have not. Great song and great video. I love how they included the Red Wings banner in the bar!

I’ve been working in Texas Roadhouse for almost 10 long years of my life I always think about moving on forever ,so mr. John rich thank you for playing this song hard working men and women for serving a lot of years
Mickey Rourke is one of my favorite actors. Love all his movies. My favorite are Desperate Hours, Harley-Davidson and the Marlboro Man, and The Wrestler. I think he should've got an Oscar for his performance in The Wrestler.
My dad worked for gm for 50 years and he was still working during the bankruptcy and when he got layed off for almost a year I introduced him to this song and he absolutely loved it. He said this song was so true!
I had 1000 shares of GM which they declared at worthless with their scam bankruptcy... I will NEVER by another GM vehicle... They should have been liquidated to pay all of their creditors and investors... The unions brought it on themselves though with their ridiculous wages for employees who should have just been making minimum wage...
This song really resonates with me because I grew up in the Detroit area, my father was a tool & die maker who's shop frequently did jobs for the various auto makers in the area (Ford, GM, Chrysler). The union voted against pay cuts to keep the shop going and rather than shore up the income of the employees out of their own pockets the shop owner decided to close the shop and file bankruptcy then re-open the shop as non-union. My father had worked there for over 30 years and as a result of the owner's actions he not only lost his job but he lost his pension too. One of the reasons I try to make sure I don't let greed run my life.
Sorry to hear that. Hopefully he has support with a pension. He is still young for SS. Hopefully you all are doing OK. That's a long time with a company. Good for him putting all those years in. It sucks what the outcomes are, but he will be OK 🙂
@@christimecarmona6810 he found a job, not making too much less than he was before. So he's pretty grateful for that. His old company didn't offer a pension. The old company took a little while longer to shut down than anticipated, so he was still employed until the middle of September.
Very true! I am also a farmer and a trucker, and you are 100% Right! They are destroying everything the working class has built and giving it to a bunch of Damn Freeloaders!
It makes me cry too. But tears of anger. I'm sick of the corruption and greed that's taken over our Country and running us into the ground. I pray everyday that God turns it around soon, and do my best to keep the Faith that He will. It's always darkest before the dawn, but when is our dawn coming, Lord? It's gotten pretty damn dark for crying out loud!
It's not all corruption. Part of it is just free market economics. I haven't given an auto worker money in 31 years and I don't intend to start because their products suck. I don't want a new Dodge truck. My old one works just fine. I also don't want new coat hangers, or new pots, or a new lamp. I don't want soda pop, or velcro, a new TV. There, that much less money for the companies and employees of such who make those things. I do however want and can afford carhartts and diesel fuel. There, I'm supporting some textile and oil workers...for now. You have to make whatever you're working for serve you right now and not count on it being there tomorrow.
@joy Campbell..nice meeting you over here.i know you must have heard a lot about me right..here is my What'sap number you can text me up on What'sap so we can talk more.Hope you don't mind +1 (213) 861‑4436
Music video just makes the song hit harder when you've lived through the collapse of the auto industry in Detroit, seeing friends and loved ones go through the exact same shit...
It's taxes that ran those companies and jobs out of Michigan, not Wall street. It's been going on for along time. My dad worked for PPG coatings and resins division (car paint). I was born in Detroit but I grew up in Ohio because PPG moved their factory. It was less expensive to build a new plant in Ohio then expand the one in Detroit due to taxes and permits. This was in 1964. It's been a long time coming.

Mr. John Rich, thank you for this song,I Wish I Could Shake Your Hand, as this very thing happened to me in 1979. I worked at Chrysler for 4 years and i went to work one day and i got my pink slip,2 years went by and i was never called back to work, My Bank account went down to $300 Bucks Lost my house and everything i had. I got in my car with the $300 and drove 2000 miles away to find work. This song means a lot to me,thank you Sir for having a Huge heart and giving a Shit about other people, EX Auto Worker
Stephanie Holey God bless your father for his strength. Thank you John Rich for this song that made me cry. I was raised in River Rouge. My grandpa and uncles worked at Great Lakes Steel. My brother went from right out of high school to the Ford Rouge Plant. My husband, who just got home from Vietnam, and brother-in-law worked at Chrysler when we all first got married. My husband was laid off more than he worked. He got laid off the day that I found out I was pregnant with our first son. I told him to find a job where he couldn’t be laid off all the time or replaced by a computer. He eventually became a police officer and retired from that job. We are a strong people and do what we have to do to survive. We don’t get money handed to us. I am proud to see the rebuilding of Detroit that is going on now. A proud city is coming back!! ❤️
My father had 33yrs in Wheeling-Pitt Steel was there just over a year, he signed up went to Vietnam for little over 2yrs. In that time recieved a purple heart, made rank E-8 1st class Sargent, and was honorably discharged April of 69. His job was held while he was gone worked for the steel mill another 31yrs was forced to retire, with a $400 a month cut from his monthly pension. On top of that, Wheeling-Pitt was also able to steal his and every other man's $25,000 life insurance policy that were still alive. This was the kind've man my father was, after everything that had happened to him. By getting screwed over by a place, he put his blood sweat and tears into..one day he said to me.. son don't feel bad for me we'll be ok, feel bad for all of my brothers and sisters who lost absolutely everything, when Detroit shut down. (He passed away November 12 2019)
Mickey Rourke is really great in this video. I think he did this video right after he did the movie "The Wrestler" which I think he should've gotten the Oscar for.
This is one of the most powerful videos and songs I've ever watched/heard. Here's to all the hard working men and women who've ever struggled. God bless you all.
You write songs that hits the bone and breaks the heart about what they are doing to our country and how easily people can be bought ..for any reason! Thank you for your patriot commitment.
Gabriela Jimenez was videoed outside a nice hotel saying she was enslaved. She said billionaire Carlos Slim knew about it. She saw people eating people. She looked sad, disgusted and in shock as she moved her hands to her mouth while explaining what they were eating. She said “they smelled like humans.” Police took her away & I've read she was never seen again. Gabriela was a little frantic, as would be anybody, and why is she missing now? Is she in a hospital? Why no interviews? Psalm 106:37 Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils, I've seen at least 7 other people telling of people doing the above “food” activities. At least 4 are connected to the billionaire crowd, and I think all are connected. God's own people were doing Satanism often in the Old Testament. He slaughtered many and booted the rest out of the promised land. He said he would bring them back one day and they would worship him. They recently got their land back but many credible reports say they and their billionaires are still worshiping Satan.

This has to be one of my favorite songs and music video... makes the life of blue collar workers open. I worked in a factory out of high school, went to Afghanistan wanting something more came home and can’t wait to go back to a hard days work.
You gotta feel for Detroit, though, cause they still ain't recovered from, what, a one-two punch? The sad part is that there's too many panzy-asses in this country crying because _Big Brother_ ain't doing enough to help.

Growing up in Detroit, and in a family that have worked on the line 60 years before I was born, this song gets to me. It's sad to hear plants closing down, and thousands lose jobs, while the assholes who probably never set foot in those plants keep getting richer.

Part not all but part of the problem is way to many hands in the operations pot. We have State Gov't saying you have to do this and then we have Fed Gov't saying you have to do this, They come up with, regulations for these companies that are so outrageous it isn't even funny. Then yes of course you also have those companies that just dont' give a damn about anything or anybody except lining their own pockets.

thanks for letting us all know that. i been there same as Mickey Rourke the actor as you call him.but i have lived it for real and put my ass on the line for a fellow co worker as well i almost got my own ass fired. this video really hit's home with me.
edwin denk That’s what you are supposed to do! I got robbed of a promotion I worked my fuckin ass off for in a hot tub factory because I didn’t speak English and Spanish, they gave my job, which I had already been doing for months without any extra pay, to a bilingual guy who was begging them not to put him in that position because he didn’t know how to do but 1 of the 7 required jobs to have it. The day I was supposed to get my raise and promotion they had some little Mexican kid say that I was “racist” because I asked him something about El Chapo (he was from the same area where the Sinaloa cartel really fucked shit up) anyway, the second I found out what they did I turned in my notice and three other men with families to support walked off the job over it to support me the day I left. Ultimately the best we could figure it cost them about $70,000 just in lost production to make that mistake. That was three years ago and to this day the guy they gave my raise to still only knows how to do his one little job. So don’t ever be afraid to do what’s right, it’ll always work out when you do. I found a job managing an entire dump truck company the day after I quit and ended up bringing two of the other three to work for me there for about $5 more an hour and paid on a salary instead of $10.50 an hour.
Yeah, people know it's Mickey Rourke. The way people know is because besides Kenny Rogers, Mickey Rourke got the worst facelift of any man in Hollywood.

I love John Rich his voice and his heart just melts me what an amazing soul he is. I feel as though I know him personally through the meaning behind his songs. Wish there was more people like him in this world. Love, love this guy!
When I saw this music video when I was little I didn't understand what he meant, I just enjoyed the song. I really don't have much to say as it is. I'm a citizen of Detroit. My parents are divorced and my mom was out of a job for 8 months around the time this music video came out. I'm 14 now.... I came back to this music video when I was 12 and I began to understand what story this song was telling, and all the facts that were mentioned are true. Proud and made in Detroit... and nothing will change that.

I grew up in Detroit, I raised my daughter there. It is a shame how it went from a beautiful city and slowly the plants started started shutting down. People lost pride and lost money. Those That had money moved to the suburbs. The last time I was There I saw hope, but that was ten years ago, and from what I've heard recently there is no hope left. That is so so sad. My Thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends I have l left there and of course all the other souls in Detroit.
I first discovered this song in 2021 and it's just as relevant today. As well as speaking volumes about Detroit and the plight of ex-factory workers in recessionary times, I can see similarities in some of the post-industrial English towns that lost their primary industry and never recovered in the decades following. Above all, for me at least, this song is a cautionary tale to be careful & take nothing for granted because this could happen to anybody.
This song has been relevant for 12 years, it’s just that Americans (at least some of us) are finally waking up to reality. It’s going to get worse before it gets better.
The song is already relevant greedy politicians corrupt politicians big money running the world well little people are out of money so now what are they going to do I hope I live alone to see it. I see revolution what does anybody else see?
Crazy to think this song is over 10 years old now. I remember seeing it on tv at my friends house and we sat and discussed the likelihood of our fathers losing their jobs at the time.

It's hard to believe that this song was done 10 years ago. It goes with what's happening to the country's economy today. Thank you John Rich for sticking by the working men and women of this country when the majority of main stream country artists have not. Yearning for a day when country music will again represent middle-class people and American values again someday. Maybe a 2.0 version of this song about shutting not just the U.S. but the whole world's economy. Again thank you from the bottom of my heart. Signed a middle-class working man.
This song need to be put back on the radio, because the message is so clear as in 2008 as it is so clear in 2022 and years to come.

The unions and politicians are responsible for the demise of Detroit. It started in the sixties and their just now getting around to finishing it off.
Amen to that ! Now get Trump back for 2024
@@jenniferevans4785 jajaja as if Trump cares about us Hoi Polloi blue collar boys.
That is 3 to 6 times (WITH INFLATION) the salary of a night shift CNA (my former job I am not allowed to perform)
I make the same base pay as a guy with a couple decades experience in 1980 in 2022
I love this song and I think that my hometown Detroit has come back big time and the lions are about to put the city on their backs and win a superbowl n the next couple years
And those of us across the river in Canada that have worked to help supply for those of you working in Detroit automotive we understand and have been affected too.

American he knows how america feels God bless John Rich
i felt that way when i got let go at pratt and whitney aircraft payroll department winter 1992.
i worked with very good people. the were so good that they surprised me with a pot luck luncheon and gifted me a shirt with my name on it and the words prince of payroll. and i knew very little about hourly salary paymaster and retirement services i had to learn from the nuts and bolts and a few view of aircraft jet engines and i had the pleasure to help others on team payroll wherever i could. i learned a lot. i used my information technology skills and problems solving abilities i did my best with the best and dealt with the not heads and a couple of dim wits but that is life.
i got lucky. i knew i was on the chopping block a day before it happened my co-worker called me first to go to a class for him because he had to take his daughter back to college from a winter break and we were having a major snow event. i said no problem we are a part of team payroll who came from it to help support moving from a home grown payroll system methodology to and bought payroll package. we were brought it from different it teams to work with the payroll it teams the payroll specialists in hourly salary and every one to make pwa payroll to run. mike said he had to check with the bosses and would call me back. after he got approval. he called me back in the evening and said he did not get approval because they wanted everyone in the office. that was my clue that i would be one of the pwa- people walking away from pratt and whitney aircraft up up and away into the wild blue yonder.
i had lots of time to think about it. i knew the lead of hourly payroll was a decorated vietnam war veteran was going to the highest pay grade to be let go. he knew his job and tolerated no bs especially anyone who did not know their job and that included management. i did not see the happening when the director of finance told mr. godbout that he was let go. i suspect some words that could make a us navy sailor blush blood red were said and security escorted him to his desk to pack up personal belongings a vacate the building.
i was the next highest ranked labor grade to go.
i think my dad"s dutch commando experience came into play. i took it like a man and accepted that my number was up. i bit my tongue and shook the directors hand and that i understood it was a numbers game and that's the way it goes. i wished him well and was escorted to a conference room to discuss mandatory transition procedures and service.
i accepted there was help to navigate my first let go from a job. i was dismissed but when i saw others from the team and the bitterness in their eyes or was it headlights in a deer's eyes, i stayed to ease the shock and pain of joblessness worthless and self doubt and why me . i guess i pulled up my big boy panties that were below my prince of payroll shirt and had to carry the emotion that was gifted and given by team members. i cried on the inside there are going to be uncomfortable changes that's life get one and deal with. it is over 30 years now. and as generic cousin hank williams jr sings a country boy can survive.
i did and hopefully i am a better man. only god knows and i will have to deal with it on judgement day when god transitions me from american with life earth citizenship to whatever god has in store for life after earth.

It's happening again Detroit shutting down ! This time for the safety of their worker's but Government needs to pay the workers not the company

I don’t know how I missed this video. Awesome performance by John Rich, Kris Christopheeson, and one of my favorites Mickey Rourke❤️
It's a damn shame what our country has been put through over money, power, and greed.
Yes Sir! You are absolutely right! It makes me fighting mad!
God Bless you John Rich! Thank you for standing up for the truth!!!
John Rich has always been a great writer and it says a lot with who's in the video! Sky King! R.I.P.
How did your father lose his pension?
Isn't that handled by the union?
Sounds to me like it's the union's fault... Unions are a socialist construct anyway, so I have no sympathy for any of them...
My father is 62, been with his company for over 40 years, and he's getting laid off. This song hits home.

Damn right
This video always makes me tear up bc it's real life I can't begin to imagine how many factory workers have taken that same pink slip walk :(
It makes me cry too.
Far too many of us
It's not all corruption.

Music video just makes the song hit harder when you've lived through the collapse of the auto industry in Detroit, seeing friends and loved ones go through the exact same shit...
My close friend lost a work friend to suicide because of corporate policy.
From the D...its such a shame
It's taxes that ran those companies and jobs out of Michigan, not Wall street. It's been going on for along time. My dad worked for PPG coatings and resins division (car paint). I was born in Detroit but I grew up in Ohio because PPG moved their factory. It was less expensive to build a new plant in Ohio then expand the one in Detroit due to taxes and permits. This was in 1964. It's been a long time coming.

Sorry this happen to u. I know some people that this very same thing happened to
I’ve a damn shame that we destroyed the economic well-being of an entire generation and especially in towns like Detroit

Psalm 106:37 Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,
I've seen at least 7 other people telling of people doing the above “food” activities.

Ya, how people who loved this song now support Trump! What a traitorous turn around that is...Trump is selling make believe and we don't buy that here.
I don't care if you are Dem/Rep/what race/what religion, Trump is livin' it up with the little money farmers and hard workers have and....people keep waving their Trump flags.
It is disgusting....oh and let's not forget that he was accused of raping two preteens - great character. Why aren't people 'fightin' mad' about that??????
@@kesa7669 because it's fake news your spreading, Trump has sanctioned china and is bringing jobs back into the US. On the other side 8 years of obama and biden is the reason detroit is shut down
2023 still been looking for this song as times getting hard for men and women of tough times we all face in our livelihood.
This is a damn good song that I didn't know about until a few months ago. It's a shame that the message still holds true, if not even more now! This is a real song for real working-class folks!
First time I heard it was today. It seems they've been shutting Nashville down too.
Bailouts should come with the caviot of a major pay cut for executives and no lay offs or hour reduction for workers
I agree...
More cheaper mortgages and car loans that we get a decent deal and make our % return at least 1% above inflation and the official % rates set by the central bank.
Bailouts should be given to employees in the firm of PPP. BAILOUTS SHOULD BE A LOAN OR GOVT BUY STOCK WITH THE REWUIREMENT THAT THERE WILL BE NO STOCK BUY BACK. IF THE CORPORATIONS BUY STOCK BUY BACK, THE GOVT WILL IMPOSE A 25% FINE. HOW ABOUT THAT
Dang this was hard to watch even 10 years later
completely agree
Same
Truth hurts. Politicians and bankers have turned the American dream into the American nightmare.
I know
Because it's still true sadly

That’s what we are seeing today a repeat of the late 70’s early 80’s
Ah, I've not heard this one before. Good stuff! And John Rich has an excellent voice.
fred fuchs still hot as hell. Heres to John Rich👄❤
This has to be one of my favorite songs and music video... makes the life of blue collar workers open. I worked in a factory out of high school, went to Afghanistan wanting something more came home and can’t wait to go back to a hard days work.
I was born in the 60's great tunes and still listening. August 2024!!!!
Boss: if you need anything just call and I'll help. big jhon: well I need a job you said to call if I need anything so give me my job back
30 people were just laid off from my job. Much of them had been there decades. This hits home.
Shuttin down a whole lot more than Detroit these days.
You gotta feel for Detroit, though, cause they still ain't recovered from, what, a one-two punch? The sad part is that there's too many panzy-asses in this country crying because _Big Brother_ ain't doing enough to help.
.....and regardless of the insanely low prices of homes to buy, the property taxes are too high to EVER get the community back up, let alone up AND runnin` ----- $$$$$$$$ that no one has
They keep Trying to.. But They can't .. not even China Understands .. U. S. A. Unless you are U.S.A. No other country . Exp China & Mexico.. They Don't get it... U S A. Is U S A.
Thanks for listening to our Heavenly Father❤❤❤

Sad world
Blame Nancy for that
Growing up in Detroit, and in a family that have worked on the line 60 years before I was born, this song gets to me. It's sad to hear plants closing down, and thousands lose jobs, while the assholes who probably never set foot in those plants keep getting richer.
And these "guys" are having their trucks built in Mexico. WTF
I here ya brother, I was 3rd generation and live in Flint but us Michiganders are a tuff breed!
mav9898 Hell yeah we are! We will get through this! If anyone can, it's us
mav9898 Curious based on the comment and user name if you were my cousin Maverick. He worked for Pontiac and Oldsmobile if I remember right and our Grandmothers were sisters (Eleanor and June.) Great Grandpa Gus worked for Oldsmobile for 40 some years and my Dad bought his last last car he owned (69 Cutlass.) If it is you reply back or ask your aunt Cathy for Dads email.
What does wall street care? The less we work, the more jobs the can ship to china and india...charge them sons of bitches pennies on the dollar to work while us Americans have to rely on welfare, ssi, ssd, selling drugs or working min wage. And heaven forbid someone is forced to work 3 min wage jobs and when they demand the money to go up a bit so they can live off it,wall street grabs their pants stomp their feet and scream REPLACE EM WITH MACHINES!
I Worked for a Timber Company for 40 years & Weyerhauser came in and Bought Us Out , Brought 20 of us in a Room & sent us All Home . Youngest Man there had Over 30 Years . Big Company's Have No Heart .

It's a damn shame....we used to build things in this country.
They say they care, but it keeps getting worse.
Good video guys....made me cry.
Is very sad to watch this video
It is the government keeps letting jobs get sent to china and they all seem to be just happy living in their own little world and the ones that are hurting are just regular folks like you and me and it just posses me off we need to let Washington know that all we need is our god, our guns, a little money in the bank they can keep the change
That's why we have so much poverty in our natision NO JOBS.
Douglas Lambert Fuckin true!! Just like how mega carriers are trying to push the small companies and owner operators out.
This is such a real video today. God Bless the hard workman man. Everyone of those excecutives that stole money should be held accountable except we have a crooked government who allowed it to happen.
Hello Lauren 👋 how are you doing today??
God bless you hard AMERICAN workers
God bless you John Rich. Coming from a Detroit auto worker this song hits home literally.
This is my dads depression that my grandfather went through, word for word father 3 kids making a life for his family, man never skipped a beat to raise us, years later I wish I could be the men the father is and grandfather were, I couldn’t even imagine losing something like this, 28 years down the drain start over for a factory worker, to hold a flame to the men of the era is a lost in this generation
Can I ask you something Matty!
Grandpa was a vet and a heavy diesel mechanic he fought for what was right to his dying day rip Hoss
YEA,FOR THE 1st. TIME IN MY LIFE I'M THANKFUL MY PRECIOUS GRANDPARENTS ARE NOT HERE TO SEE WHAT A SAD,SAD,SAD MESS OF SHIT WE'RE IN. SO SAD!!!!!

My family worked the line for Chrysler Dodge for many years. One uncle was on the design team for the Viper. Iacocca is a family hero. It saddens me to see the state that Detroit is in. Hell, it breaks my heart every time I drive by the abandoned plants.
Great song with powerfully accurate lyrics & an awesome video acted in by a couple of true legends
10-2023 still holds.
Every time I listen to this song it brings tear to my eyes as it is me that's being let go cause of my age. Companies want it all and give nothing in return
I always cry to this song.

Kris Kristofferson is the older man but some don't know the longer haired guy's name who stood up for him and that would be Mr.Mickey Rourke. Another great actor
I'm a real big fan of Mickey Rourke. I am completely obsessed with him. Mickey Rourke is daddy.
thanks for letting us all know that. i been there same as Mickey Rourke the actor as you call him.but i have lived it for real and put my ass on the line for a fellow co worker as well i almost got my own ass fired. this video really hit's home with me.
edwin denk That’s what you are supposed to do!
Fuck! I woudn't have recocgnized him if I didn't read Yours-But the face-Harley Davidson and Marlboro Men👍🖤♠️
This song is totally awesome wonderful and beautiful. The Lord is speaking through you John and we should all be ready thank you for sharing this message in such a beautiful way
An amazing, charismatic artist is John Rich.
Hey how are you doing today…?
Thank you John for making this song. I don't live in Detroit but even in Illinois we are having a hard time.
Yeah, I'd love to leave Illinois.
Sadly Melissa it is going to get a lot harder! Not only did the "blue wave" hit in a big way Madigan go 6 more minions...I hate to say but if you have the ability...RUN!
I dont think I have heard you before but Im liking your music. Good lyrics! I am a songwriter and this song shows how you only need three chords to make a good country song. Having Kris in your video was nice as well! Good job!
You have a lot of insight for a young person. We are the best, no matter what!
Angela Coudenys well now we have a chance just hope that the business man that real Americans elected will follow through with what he said. I'm 25 served in the marines and work every day. i hope we can turn things around.
Ethan kime really my uncle he died in the war of afagan so he was a marine now I want to be a marine to brother I got 3 mores years I'm 15
Edit: 2 more years
At the age of 12 the meanings behind this song should have been lost to you. The fact it wasn't makes me very sad.
Hanji Zoe Ackerman what tell your a adult and you get lad off this song has a hole new meaning... i am 26 and know the meaning. luckily i was only out of work a week the last time
I grew up in Detroit, I raised my daughter there.
I love this song bring back beautiful memories. How are you Penni ?
I first discovered this song in 2021 and it's just as relevant today. As well as speaking volumes about Detroit and the plight of ex-factory workers in recessionary times, I can see similarities in some of the post-industrial English towns that lost their primary industry and never recovered in the decades following. Above all, for me at least, this song is a cautionary tale to be careful & take nothing for granted because this could happen to anybody.
The whole song is sad, but when they peel it out of the pub and get to the guys home, that's when it hits you.
This song never aged! In a time like this, we need a remake of this song!!!!
Get ready for this song to be relevant again
We're in for a hell of a ride, hope you stocked up on ammo
This song has been relevant for 12 years, it’s just that Americans (at least some of us) are finally waking up to reality. It’s going to get worse before it gets better.
it always has been relevant
Sad but true
The song is already relevant greedy politicians corrupt politicians big money running the world well little people are out of money so now what are they going to do I hope I live alone to see it. I see revolution what does anybody else see?
Crazy to think this song is over 10 years old now. I remember seeing it on tv at my friends house and we sat and discussed the likelihood of our fathers losing their jobs at the time.

Went to Iraq in 89, came home in 04, worked as a Union Low Volt until 10, I lost everything. They don't care about me or you or your family.
I care...thank you for your service...#maga
really? 2 years before the war started?
William Bowen its called foreign occupation and we've had soldiers in iraq since forever..always will!
Thanks for your service.
@@MilitantMountaineer No we haven't and no we didn't have soldiers in Iraq two years before the war. And for the record those precious unions are what killed the jobs. Cancers within the company that can't be fired no matter how lazy they are.
Song is relevant in 2023 as well.
Amen
It's crazy how long ago this song came out, yet it feels like it just came out last year... 😪
