I wish you had a better camera angle. So I could see the connection outlets on the actual water heater. All in all, it was very helpful, and you made it appear to be an easy maintenance project. Thank you.

I've had 2 tankless water heaters. The plumbers did not install the purge port(PP); so glad I saw your video planning to have PP installed next month. Thank you

I don't have this system, or anything close. But this still is useful information for my electric tankless water heater!

I manage several Disaster Relief shower trailers with full sized propane home sized on-demand water heaters (Rheem and Rinnai), and pump RV antifreeze into these units each winter for winterization. Assuming I do this descaling procedure once a year, would it be best to do the descaling routine BEFORE I pump the RV antifreeze into the water heater, or do the descaling procedure AFTER pumping the RV antifreeze out of the water heater after winter is over?

Hi, I’m not an authority on the topic, but based on what you’ve told me I’m not sure it makes much of a difference regarding the effectiveness of the cleaning. I’d weigh the pros and cons of each.
If you flush it first, then you’ve got that out of the way and don’t have to worry about it the next year when you open things back up.
If you flush it later, then it gives you a way to thoroughly clean the antifreeze out of the system as part of the flush.
Either way I think you’re good and it just comes down to personal preference.

Apologies and thanks for the feedback. I could have been more clear with the camera angles during the process, but hopefully you can still get the overall idea of what’s happening.

How often do you have to do this?

    • @Jjcoolstuff

Once a year is the general recommendation. However, if you have hard water with more mineral content then you should flush more often.

You may want to consider getting a quote from a plumber to add the isolation valves. It’s probably not that expensive and this maintenance will prolong the life of your tankless water heater.
