Just outside Newton Abbot next to Trago Mills there was a camp called Ilford. It housed exiled Poles who fought alongside allies. Many of them settled here.

I can give some information on that: John was a boy soldier at The Junior Leaders' Regiment, Royal Signals based at Denbury Camp nearby (now Channings Wood Prison) He was 16 years old when he and another boy died tragically in a fire in barracks. A very sad occasion that is still remembered by those who were there at the time, about sixty years ago. A point that might be of interest, is that John's grave is a Military Grave and not a War Grave as it falls out of the time remit of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission - This is shown by the fact that War Graves headstones have a smooth curve on the top and the Military Graves have the notches in the curve as can be seen in your video.
