      I made the burgers today for my daughter's and myself. I made a few adjustments like adding sweet potato and leaving out the tomatoes and carrots, but oh my goodness... they were delicious!!! I halved the recipe, but wished I didn't because they were so good. Thank you.

    When it comes to the zoo, there is a middle way, here at least where I live. We don't visit zoo's, but there are sanctuaries in our area, one is for wild animals saved from problematic conditions like illegal pets, circus, labs etc, and then we have the sea life center that rehabilitates and release animals back to the wild (mostly seals). No breeding programs. And sanctuary for farm animals saved from exploitation in the food system are also fun for children. I look it this way- my son never saw a dinosaurs in his life, but it didn't make him love them less. Same for other animals :)

    Just took my grands to the Big Cat Rescue in Florida. All of the animals were happy. They all sat at the front of their cages and interacted with us passerbys. I've been to other zoos where animals are in obvious stress so yes, mixed feelings about zoos. But love visiting them.

    How do you find a balance between eating healthy and becoming obsessed about it? I'm so overwhelmed !

    • @karabear4640
      @karabear4640 3 роки тому +8

      It can definitely be difficult to avoid becoming too obsessed! Many times I meal prep and eat really healthy during the week, but I'll also bake a vegan dessert and have some each day. And I go out for dinner a couple of times a week and get whatever sounds good (vegan of course!). Just do what is best for your body and mind. And enjoy treats while making sure to eat mostly real food 💖🌿.

      I feel like you have to do what works best for you and your body. There is a term, I forget what the name is, but it is eating healthily in an obsessed way & is considered an eating disorder. Maybe eat a healthy vegan diet on some days and eat whatever takes your fancy in others? Be gentle with yourself love.

      It's really not that serious, no one thinks about what they eat when they eat meat and dairy and still lack nutrients ... eating plant based is very simple all you do is substitute animal products. I still eat pizza , tamales, shepherds pie, curry, tacos, banana bread..im not trying to be rude but what is confusing? Lol

      At the beginning, we necessarily go through an obsessive phase, there are so many things to reconsider, we educate ourselves .... it lasted me 2 years and I admit that the topic still interests me so much! It's certainly also to stay in the right mood that I still listen to the experiences of others many years after my big change.

    Brownies before dinner ?? ...that's an EPIC SUCCESS!!!
    I used to break all the nonsense rules and it made me and the kids very happy and closer!
    I remember missing the school bus, packing them in the car and on the drive asking if they wanted to stay home for the day after a dunkin donuts run! (DD replaced by gourmet coffee and avo toast now in their 20's!)
    They jumped for joy, we got back into cozy pajamas and spent the day watching movies and playing. It's these type of days that recharge you.
    Don't forget breakfast for dinner nights ... another fun favorite with company!
    We had a St Bernard when the kids were little, the size of Bo (and his name was Max!) he would love the kitchen dancing with us!
    WAY TO GO STANCZYKS!!!
    Love and hugs, Rachele!

    It’s funny I’m watching this video, because earlier today I drove by the zoo and had the same thought. I also have mixed feeling about them and can see both sides. I think when I have children I will take them to the zoo to educate them on animals and also include them in the positives and negatives of zoos. I think it’s a positive experience for children to see exotic animals up close, but it’s also important for them to have respect and compassion for them as well.

    I am mixed on zoos as well! I think humans have more compassion for animals they can get close to and make a connection with. Most of the animals in the zoo are not accessible in any other location so for that reason, they can be beneficial (and safety/food, as you mentioned). On the other hand, there are many not well kept zoos and the animals are in small areas and it overall is not ideal. Also, I totally do not agree with zoos breeding new babies. I believe they should only be able to act a sanctuary for animals who have been injured or cannot survive in the wild for some other reason.
    For kids, it makes the animals in their books and on their screens real and I think it sparks a love of animals for many of them. It's a blurry area for me.

    A lot of animals in our old zoo (fort worth) were rescued and would not have survived in the wild. However here it is not like that here (Asheboro NC) but on the other hand it is one of the largest natural/wild habitat zoos in the country...so that's cool. I'm torn also. They do also have huge dedicated programs for breeding of endangered species at some zoos which is a plus. We all know the cons. One time I felt a strong urge to free the jaguar at the Dallas zoo. The size of it's enclosure should be illegal. I agree I'm glad I can take my kids to see the animals they might not otherwise see.

    I do think that there is a need and purpose for the large, well run zoos in America. But I don’t feel that every little town in every state needs to have its own small zoo. Keeping animals for educational reasons and for saving species is great. But locking up hundreds of thousands of animals just so that Podunk towns can have a zoo, is totally unnecessary.

    There's some great zoos that teach conservation and educations on these animals and earth. Like everything you have some good and bad. San Diego, Brookfield(Chicago) , Milwaukee, Ohio, Omaha are all great examples of great zoos. Tiger King, not. I think kids learn so much . They have come a long way also to better the practices at zoos. I loved your video! Also, I remember my boys taking epic naps and sleeping normal bedtime then grew the next morning! LOL. Grow spurt coming:)

    Def anti zoo, v cruel🚫Maybe you could take Max to a wildlife rescue where injured animals are cared for and often live there as they can’t go back into the wild

    Definitely the same feelings about zoos. I haven't taken my kids to one yet and I'm not sure if I will. I think they are great for kids to learn about the animals, and the people working there to help heal them, and protect endangered species. But I also don't think it's fair that the animals live in such small spaces with no interaction from other animals (apart from their own species usually). My husband thinks it's worth it, 'a few animals for the greater good' kind of idea. But I don't think I agree with that. We've been to some animal sanctuaries but there are only so many animals you can see there.

    Hi Vegan community! So my family and I have been vegan for over 6 years and weren’t exactly eating healthy vegan foods and ended up gaining weight. Now we’re trying to get back to healthy but we realize that vegan protein usually comes with high carbs. Any tips or suggestions to increase protein intake but decrease carbs?

    I cook my banana at same time as oats. U could put them and dates in the last couple mins and that would save u time mashing them. 😀🌿💜

    I agree I feel mixed on zoos... i'm more leaning towards feeling sad for the animals but I think sometimes they were injured and couldnt be released or were born in captivity so werent really able to live in the wild .... I one time cried after seeing the gorillas in their cages... its hard for me to feel okay with it, defenitely mixed

    I am confused! Why do you consume protein powders if we can obtain all our protein easily in a day? Have I missed something? A video 📹 to explain why? Have you done a video on that?
    Many thanks xx

    • @EatMoveRest
      @EatMoveRest  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, you can easily obtain the protein that you need from plant-based sources without protein powder, however, we really enjoy it and it helps add a boost to our smoothies and shakes! We workout and train pretty hard, so we feel that using some in our diets is beneficial for strength, energy, and recovery. It also tastes amazing too! We have not made a video specific to this yet, but maybe we can! :)

    • @panes840

      @@EatMoveRest i think it would be awesome if you did make a video on this. I have no idea if I should take protein powder and when to do so and importantly how much to take either. I've started working out only recently. Plus Dr Campbell and other Drs advise that too much protein can be harmful but is that any type of protein or just animal protein? So yeah any guidance you could give would be extremely helpful.
      Blessings to you and your gorgeous family from the UK. You guys are a great inspiration and so incredibly helpful to so many of us in the plant based community too. X

    Zoo’s also have animals that are permanently injured that would not be able to survive in the wild.
