  • This is what happens when you turn your back to a spy in TF2
    Edit 6/8/10: Been playing spy more (I'm the spy for my highlander team :D ) and all I have to say is "obvious spy is obvious". I'm lucky no one decided to spy check me as I ran for that heavy.
    Still an awesome stabby spree though

Which is 8 seconds or 0.875 kills per 1 second, for 8 seconds, especially judging by how laggy the game was and delayed the backstab animation was in Team Fortress Two's days of yore.

    Some notes for everyone talking about how the enemy team didn't react:
    1: This was uploaded only five months after the game came out. The entire player base was less experienced with its mechanics and common strategies, so they didn't know what to look out for.
    2: The culture around the game, and gaming in general was very different at the time. This was long before the game even had matchmaking, much less any form of ranking system or in-game incentive to get better. Most multiplayer shooters, (Especially ones published by Valve) still only used server lists, and didn't have much in the way of encouraging players to actually train and become proficient with the game. At the time of release, the main appeal of the game for most consumers was that it was a fun, hectic shooter. Players would feel proud of themselves if they did well, but there wasn't much obligation to actually excel or carry your team to victory beyond the basic premise of the game having teams and an objective.
    TL;DR: The enemy team didn't have a lot of experience spy-checking because no one did, and what's more most of them probably weren't super concerned with whether or not they won or lost, and as such didn't have the most awareness of if they were being attacked, as they were all probably just focusing on where they were going and who they were shooting at that moment.

    • @Nebula.Dragon
      @Nebula.Dragon 9 місяців тому

      Honestly, I think what you said about the culture of the game is still largely true to this day. TF2's community is one of the last few really casual ones. People still focus on having a good time, find servers through the server list and there isn't much incentive to win in casual mode (your rank only goes up). The simple appeal of it being fun and hectic is still its main appeal imo.
      And nowadays of course, there are more ways to be casual, like community games modes, meme strats or being friendly, which are all fairly common. And although there is a competitive mode, almost no one plays it. So yeah, it's still pretty casual I would say. A popular relic of those times.

    • @guyofminimalimportance7
      @guyofminimalimportance7 9 місяців тому

      @@Nebula.Dragon Yeah, TF2 is still a relatively casual community compared to other multiplayer shooters. That's arguably why it's still around, since there's not many alternatives left.
      Still, in the modern industry there still is a not insignificant number of diehard players who take it arguably too seriously. Like those guys who have the game's FOV set to max, ragdolls turned off to increase framerate; custom hit confirmation sounds modded in. etc.
