I walked by Heroclix boosters hundreds of times in my youth. I enjoyed superheroes (especially Marvel) but I just wasn’t into tabletop games at the time. Now I think it looks rather fun and could see myself enjoying it quite a bit!
@@WoodyREC thanks, I am looking to buy Heroclix and never played before so wanted the basics. I will go through your other videos once I have purchased. Thanks again
I notice the Superman you showed had audum or however you spell it my question is what affect does it have on that character and what affect does it have on other players???
Yes exactly like Pokemon mate, the older sets rotate out into a 'Golden Age' which would be similar to the extended format in Pokemon. Then there is the 'Modern Age' in Heroclix which is the competitive play
@@QuartzIsAnOxide I do love Dice Masters too, but for me Heroclix is like acting out those battles you have in Dice Masters, cool sculpts and abilities; Heroclix wins it! In terms of rotation, a set normally gets two years of play
So PROTECTED in capitals means that character is unaffected by whatever it says Protected lower case means just that specific power is protected, but pulse wave still hits you
I try to get someone to learn it with me but no one will. They will collect but won't learn the game. My local comic shop in nowhere Ohio doesn't have anyone who knows how to play
It means that figure can be played at different point values, so you could play him for example at 100 or 150. You would then turn the characters dial to the coloured line which lines up with the colour of the point value!
Would you be allowed to play competitively if you stripped and repainted your minifigures? I've seen some of the HeroClix paint jobs and they are atrocious.
@@WoodyREC thats honestly a shame, the paint jobs on some of them are god awful. I understand why sine they are mass produced but still. To bad wizkids dosnt release unpainted versions.
Thanks for the video! Great introduction. My question is, how do I tell what's rare and not? I just bought a box of 50 random miniatures and don't know what's rare/good.
DualMaverick thanks for the kind words! So the figures will have a coloured tab on them! White is common, green uncommon, silver rare, gold super rare then bronze is Chase! As a general rule the higher rarity the better the figure/the more complex its powers! Welcome to the game 😊
As many as can fit in the decided point value, if you’re playing a 300 pt match you could have 15 x 20 point characters or 1 300 pt and everything in between!
so that means when mage knights were a thing they were that easy to play....i had so many mage knights that just sat around because no one would play with me...my friends had them knew how to play, but they were into MTG but so was i...so that is what we stuck to...funny thing is...we used our mage knights to represent monsters when we did DnD campaigns...lol
i want to play, but i just sold a ton of my old toy biz toys and got into Star was Destiny, and imperial assult with my son, best investment ever, to finally bond with him. he is my step son, but i have been the only man in his life since he started school.. his dad abandoned him.
This made more sense than the beginner's rule book I've been doing battle with for the last few hours.
Really glad I could help mate!

That's exactly how it happened for me! Always saw the boosters but never thought about playing, is a ton of fun - shout if you do start playing!
Finally, a video with the BASIC rules. Thank you Woody
Glad I could be of any help - I've recently gone over powers etc too when you're looking to add some more gameplay features

Awesome video. Made the action token super simple for me.
The points to build your team to change but do you think it’s better to build a small team with a powerful clix or a full team
It really comes down to preference, I prefer a full team with a few different strong, lower point characters!
I notice the Superman you showed had audum or however you spell it my question is what affect does it have on that character and what affect does it have on other players???
Indom? The cross through his shield? It means next turn, he can take a 2nd action token without taking any pushing damage :)
Woody [REC] thanks :D
Do the older heroclix phase out of competive play ( like pokemon)?
Yes exactly like Pokemon mate, the older sets rotate out into a 'Golden Age' which would be similar to the extended format in Pokemon. Then there is the 'Modern Age' in Heroclix which is the competitive play
@@WoodyREC Interesting, and how often do they rotate? Also, in your opinion, which game is more fun; Heroclix, or Dice Masters?
@@QuartzIsAnOxide I do love Dice Masters too, but for me Heroclix is like acting out those battles you have in Dice Masters, cool sculpts and abilities; Heroclix wins it!
In terms of rotation, a set normally gets two years of play
Enjoyed the video... do you have a video on how figures the take up more the one square move?
Daniel Rios thanks for the kind words, I don’t but the way it works is you pick a square it occupies and count movement from that 😊
What does the new "PROTECTED " rule ability mean?
So PROTECTED in capitals means that character is unaffected by whatever it says
Protected lower case means just that specific power is protected, but pulse wave still hits you
@@WoodyREC thank you very much!
What prevents camping in this game?
As in hiding? A game is won by who scores the most points, so you need KOs.
I try to get someone to learn it with me but no one will. They will collect but won't learn the game. My local comic shop in nowhere Ohio doesn't have anyone who knows how to play
Just one question, what do the points mean in a game (e.g: 300 point game)
Slothcubing so if you’re playing a 300 point game both players teams figures have to be equal to or less than 300 - good luck playing ☺️
Thanks for the help, what does it mean when there are multiple numbers where the points value is?
It means that figure can be played at different point values, so you could play him for example at 100 or 150. You would then turn the characters dial to the coloured line which lines up with the colour of the point value!
Would you be allowed to play competitively if you stripped and repainted your minifigures? I've seen some of the HeroClix paint jobs and they are atrocious.
Unfortunately, custom sculpts aren't allowed in competitive play, although repaints are! Even then, its a judges choice, so I wouldn't risk it.

where is the link to the powers??
Any official rules like Powers and Abilities can be found and printed from Wizkids website!
This is very nostalgic!
Where can you buy heroclix other than online
Depends where you're based, normally comic books in your area will stock boosters and even hold events!
i thought in range calculations you started in the square your figure was in not the square in front of them.
Rampaging Raichu that’s correct, the first square in front of them is 1 range and where you start counting from though :) thanks for watching
The new update was great but it would not have to be a game full time without having any problems I had with no problem at least for me and
I heard you drew first for the National Sealed Comp. #thenorthneverforgets
I agree with this guy, he's also kinda handsome for a big lad.
look like nice figures to collect, wish they were bigger and not for a game since wwe undertaker looks awesome
Some of the sculpts are fantastic, nice to collect either way! 😁 Big fan of Undertaker too
Why didn't I just play as Galactis and kill everything lol?
Great Teaching!!!

So your saying teens cant play this game?
Didn't mean to give that impression! I started in my teens, perfect time to get into it :) would encourage all ages!
