Your method works, however you'd be surprised at what a $1 spray bottle and some water could do with dirty condenser coils. Spray it on the dirty coils and the lint gets heavy and falls to the bottom. Then take several big towels and soak it up in a small wash tub. No compress air, vacuum cleaner or brushes needed. It's easy and fast with little or no mess. Of course, you'll need to unplug the fridge for a few minutes and remove the back cover. But, whatever works is how it's done! Max cooling is what you want! 1st: Thank you for this video. You likely saved me a lot of money. 2nd: I beat you by a long shot with the amount of junk I pulled out. I insulated my entire attic with all the fluff and still threw away a dumpster's worth.
There's supposed to be a cover, you can make one like I did, use either cardboard or corrugated plastic and cut it to fix. That fridge doesn't need vents in the back cover since it is supposed to pull in cool air on the left and exhaust warm air on the right when looking at the front. That makes making a new cover really easy since you don't have to worry about cutting vents in it.
Suggestion , would turning off the frig , empty the frig , move it outside , have a variable speed leaf blower and blow out the coils . I like your suggestion too . I would like to see companies have air filters to keep the coils and other components from getting so filthy . They would have to have a sensor or timer to notify the owner when to change the filter . The appliance companies could make money by selling the filters .
Or use an air compressor blower to it. You'll get into the nooks and crannies alot better as the stream of air is much narrower like a laser than a leaf blower.
Poor lil guy the owner got it working overtime so I don’t blame it for 🚬 stressful job when you’re doing all the hard work to keep the owner happy! At least it knows how to keep itself occupied
Believe me that cover makes all the difference. I just took a cover off (most likely you'll break it, which is why some panels say don't remove.) but you can make a new one. Most of the dust clung to the cover, The coils were not too bad in there after many years. Those square stacked coils really surprised me. I guess they're supposed to be space saving-- but they also are a pretty poor design in my opinion. The fan would have to work overtime to actually cool those coils instead of flat ones. Also, be careful not to joggle the drain tubes or drip tray from the freezer or you'll get a mess under the fridge after a while. Many of them don't drip straight into a drain pan anymore, there will be a trough which can fill with dust and really cause problems. I miss the old 'fridges where the coils were flat on the back! No fans! Manual defrost! And no electronics to fail (ie--defrost cycles now have a damn computer chip that fails controlling them- and can make the heating coils stay on, COOKING food in the freezer.)
No typically it will just cause it to work harder to cool and will cause parts to wear out faster than they should if you are having an ice issue it could be due to the drain in your freezer being blocked. Typically the drain is located in the back of the freezer at the bottom and goes into the back of the unit. During it's defrost stage it will warm the sides of the freezer causing it to melt and the melt is supposed to drain down that tube to the underside of the refrigerator. If too much ice builds up it can sometimes block the vent from the freezer to the refrigerator which can cause warming in the refrigerator. Hope this helps.

Not true. I have a GE Profile 2008 model that’s has lasted me years. You can use a blower or compressor to blow all the lint/dust out of those coils. It will be messy, but you can always clean this up once a year. It’s well worth the trouble

Remove access panels and roll the fridge to the front door. Stuff pillows on the top of the fridge to seal up the fridge into the door frame. Why would the refrigerator company do that for when they can get you to buy a new refrigerator as most people don’t even clean their condenser coils

I believe I would use my vacuum cleaner to get the easy dust, then use the brush for the hard to reach dust.
Hold the vacuum nozzle right alongside the brush and it gets 90% of the dust.

The coil to my refrigerator was covered in dust. Soon after I cleaned it off the refrigerator ran like new.

Yes it is supposed to have a back cardboard cover. Unfortunately it was not there when I started the job but the refrigerator operated as it should.

I bought a brush at Target that was labeled as a register brush, for cleaning your A/C registers. It was around $10.
I used a paint brush and took my time.
