I do my own graphic designs from time to time for myself. Adobe illustrator was becoming a bit expensive just to have as a part time hobby. Really happy I came a crossed this channel. I'm new to this application. It has some similarities to illustrator, just certain tools seem out of place for me. You do a excellent job at doing things step by step. Keep it up! You're a great help!
@@LabGeckobetween gimp and Inkscape I have zero reason to pay for adobe. Once you understand Inkscape is scary how simple and intuitive it actually is. I have been tinkering and I'm surprised by the number of things I managed to do even without looking up tutorials. This channel is a massive help, especially to start and with tips.
this method is great for simple objects. when i tried this on a complex object some parts didn't mirror properly, so i did this instead: 1️⃣ create a clone of the object i want to mirror 2️⃣ mirror the clone 3️⃣ move the clone to the place i want
Thanks for the tutorial. Question: Is there a way to move the center of the symmetry precisely to the center of the head (or the page) via snapping or inputting a value? Not sure if I explained what I mean correctly.
Hey! Thanks to you I know I need to learn and I really want Inkscape :) I have a problem and need an explanation, no matter who will know it. I want to set the canvas like you have ( or as others say like in Adope Illustrator ), I completely do not know how to do it "attract to the page border".... The guides are about the old version and I don't know where to find it, really. Help. pls
Hi Nick. Why are the Incskape Icons and Buttons are so tiny? I have a 4K Monitor. Is the a solution? Thanks for your very good Videos! There is no other good Ressource like yours.
Man go to preferences < interface ( Maybe go to theming after interface ). From there you can change icons size and more controls. Hope this wil help you !
Control + Shift + P to open Inkscape Preferences, go to the Interface section and then go through all of the submenus to set your preferred sizes for everything.
It’s something that can happen for various reasons. I found this often happens when you haven’t updated to the newest version. Super easy just uninstall and download the latest version. Your files will open correctly in the newer version. If this didn’t work it also occurs when you have .jpg or .png files in your Inkscape file. I just accept that it gets slower sometimes, I prefer Inkscape over Illustrator any day.
Sounds like you may be using an older computer. The earlier versions of Inkscape should run much better, but there's a tradeoff in that you won't have access to some of the newer features. Version 0.92.5 is my personal favorite. It runs the best imo.
The first master in Inkscape that I know.

Once you get used to InkScape, especially the new version, it is so much nicer to not feel like an Adobe shill every time you open the app 😄

Thank you Nick. You taught me again a cool feature in my beloved SVG editor.
Love your tutorials and how you mention the keyboard shortcuts as you go along.
I’ve just signed up for the masterclass. I’m working my way through the great lessons.
Thanks for enrolling, Stephen!

I tend to get lag when I change object to pattern then to path, I guess by making it a path it requires much more memory
