I appreciate your comments about adhering to a rigid structure, compared to the more freeform melodies you created. Your approach to music-making inspires me. Thank you for publishing these videos!
I've recently just begun my adventure through the world of modular, so seeing you doing tutorials on eurorack modules is extremely exciting and comforting to me! Looking forward to more modular videos (or any sort of video you decide to make).
This is a great video of the Hermod. It was cool what the creator was demoing. For me just the depth of this device seems incredible. Halfway through this and reading some of the manual, I purchased one off Reverb! Very excited to try it with slaving internal clock to my DAW. Will be curious to experiment with CC control via the USB using my Roli Seabord. Further, polyphony is something that many sequencers just don’t have. Getting one one of these seems like a no-brainer. A huge thank you.
This is exactly what I've been looking for since my journey in synthesizers. Will definitely be incorporating this in my rack, and possibly replacing others. Very informative video, thank you!
I really like how the unit pulls together my rig. I do get frustrated sometimes getting that first beat right in a new sequence when inputting a melody via keystep.
Would be nice some to have also some exploration of Hermod’s CV in. I’m trying to use a module to random trig CV and use a track in Hermod to quantize the random in to a scale. Can’t make it work thou. Any tip? Always like the mood of your tutorials. 🙏
Thanks for sharing I saw a hermod for sale and this showed up in Google after watching I bought one had it one day now it's brilliant Although it was locking up bit at first but an update sorted that much better than sequencing with a DAW
I hate how small the screen is, but I can't find a better eurorack sequencer for me. I just really wish it was bigger, or there was display output option (like the Nerdseq has an expansion for).
Haha.. for now modulars is something that I'm following with great interest :) It takes a lot of dedication to go full on with modular, so I'm not sure I'll go fully modular. But I have been using it live a few occasions.
Nice. I'm at similar stage. Modular is awesome, but i don't think it's an "either or deal" with modular. The accessibility of subtractive or FM synthesis will always be better suited for live performances, while modular can do something crazy and wonderful in the studio. But that's just my take. :) In any case, i'll be interested to see your modular experience - i think your creative workflow is nicely compatible with the modular format.
I'm curious how you feel about this Sequencer now that you are using the NerdSeq. Do you use both? Do you have any thoughts if you were to choose just one?
I’m a bit late on this video, but i was wondering if is possible to use Hermod to connect digitakt, i mean , to have digitakt as main clock for the entire system, what do you think ?
Cuckoo what is your favorite modular sequencer and why? I use my Korg SQ-1 and Make Noise 0-ctrl which are great for basic sequencer duties but as my modular system grows, feel a need for a better one. But I don't want endless menu diving otherwise I can just use my Elektron Octatrack and Analog 4 for that.
Im seriously up in the air about the hermod vs the elequencer? Hermod seems better for off the grid stuff, but eloquencer seems to have more features and to be getting regular updates.
I love to listen how you use it but still have one question. Is it also possible to use it just es usb2cv. I would like to use ableton as sequencer and use hermod to output 8 cv and gate coming from ableton live.
Can I use the LFO to modulate the speed of the sequence? Can I make it play random steps out of the sequence? Can I make it do both of the above at once?
euclidian algorithm has something to do with finding the highest common divisor, in modular you can determine how many triggers happen within a designated amount of steps, thusly creating polyrhythms...i think
I almost bought this after seeing this awesome review but I just read that they weren’t going to be updating this again. I’m having seconds thoughts now... hmmm
yup first Cuckoo was into OP-1 and Elektrons now modular. Seems a pattern. Most folks I know who started on computers and Ableton went to hardware synths like Elektrons and then modular.
Awesome video! I do have one thing I'm not clear on. If using the MIDI out on a track to sequence an external midi instrument, is the track still polyphonic via midi if the track layout is only assigned to one cv/gate output (mono layout). Thanks!
Thanks! Yeah each track can be polyphonic. I don't think there's a poly limit on the MIDI output. The CV output per track is monophonic of course, and will depend on the effects what note they send out, if the sequence is polyphonic. Also there are polyphonic options to let one track use several CV outputs as polyphonic outputs.
No per step portamento amirite? That's like a half (or less than half) implemented feature... How often do you want glide over the whole pattern?? Glide is more for adding accents to sequences, not for making super deranged melodies...
Good question! The tracker way is yet another way of sequencing! I think a Tracker for insane sequencing. Trig grid for fast fingertip control. Hermod for more freeform recording? They all cross over though. Whichever makes your heart tick...
Dude, your totorials are great, but your melodies just sound like quantized noise...could you just use simple melodies and simple musicals structures to keep the focus on the tutorial part? It is REALLY annoying to listen to that randomized-sounding melodies over and over again.
What? It's not random, it is his personal style, pure randomness sounds much different. I find it enjoyable to hear his drafts while he is instructing. You are probably just used to very predictable music, and this is why it annoys you.

I think this is my favorite video of yours so far, musically and information wise - would love to know more about your little bastl rig! 👍
Best walkthrough I’ve seen of the Hermod. Thanks!!
Thanks Benjamin! Glad to hear that.
I love the midi resolution. I just got one yesterday and so happy with it.
Welp, this'll be my next module. The ability to record midi and keep it loose, oh man I've been searching for this!
I quite like the tune by 30 minutes, the little arcadie sounds popping in and out. Very cool
tune? but you do have ears? seriously, this is what would happen if you give that modular setup to a kindergarden. no manual included.
boris theodd idk man I kinda like it. Might just take my modular on a trip to the daycare

Thank You! Great practical walkthrough. I've been eyeing this module as my first sequencer but the demos have been, well over my head.Very cool!
This looks like a modular take on the squarp pyramid - no thank you I got one in the loft.

yes! Thank you! always looking for more ways to unlock this beasts potential!

Awesome sequencer! Euclid mode is probably euclidean patterns..

Awesome sequencer, and of course as always love your demos!
I hate how small the screen is, but I can't find a better eurorack sequencer for me. I just really wish it was bigger, or there was display output option (like the Nerdseq has an expansion for).
Oh my goodness, have you started dabbling in eurorack? :O I haven't noticed! I would love more content with modular gear from you.
Haha.. for now modulars is something that I'm following with great interest :) It takes a lot of dedication to go full on with modular, so I'm not sure I'll go fully modular. But I have been using it live a few occasions.

Nice man, very though full explanations and love the mirror gimmick lol.
Great track - love the piano!
Great vid! Can the Squarp Hermod do polyphonic chords?
Yeah! Standard level of awesomeness... :-)) thanks!
🙏🏼 thank you!
you're just so goddamn wholesome - cool vid
I'm curious how you feel about this Sequencer now that you are using the NerdSeq. Do you use both? Do you have any thoughts if you were to choose just one?
does it have an undo button? >,
So, you can modulate your LFO's with an LFO modulated by an LFO? SOLD!

Another great video cuckoo!!! but whats this little sampler?

magical
10:52 Zelda II, nice! :)
So good!
Hey cuckoo, thanks a lot for your work. Have you tried the Winter Modular Eloquencer ?
Great job!
Mr cuckoo. Thanks for the video..
Can I Record non time-quantised on it? I mean gridless beats? To achieve my own style of groove ?
Yes
I love to listen how you use it but still have one question. Is it also possible to use it just es usb2cv. I would like to use ableton as sequencer and use hermod to output 8 cv and gate coming from ableton live.
Yeah, that’s what the USB device plug is for.
Can I use the LFO to modulate the speed of the sequence?
Can I make it play random steps out of the sequence?
Can I make it do both of the above at once?
Does anyone know if you can trigger recording midi with the first note played. Thanks
Hi Cuckoo Can use one or multi arpeggiator in different tracks in real time with Hermod? Thanks :)
9'40" Euclid was a pre Chrit Greek mathematician, may be it has to do with poly rythm ?
euclidian algorithm has something to do with finding the highest common divisor, in modular you can determine how many triggers happen within a designated amount of steps, thusly creating polyrhythms...i think
Love your channel!
I almost bought this after seeing this awesome review but I just read that they weren’t going to be updating this again. I’m having seconds thoughts now... hmmm
New firmware OS 1.2 was just realeased..the Squarp guys seem pretty on it.
Can you send a clock to cv in and assign that clock
to a track?
Thanks for the video! Have you faced any latency issues? Is there any parameter for track delay compensation or something?
Thanks for the nice demo! What vco are you using?
lovely demo :)) best wishes,
flute man
How does it send and receive clock?
Did your una corda patch video get taken down?
Danke!
Eurorack Fever!

Euclidean Rhythms.
Does it do CV as well ? I thought it only did gates/trigs
Yes, lots of CV.
No per step portamento amirite? That's like a half (or less than half) implemented feature... How often do you want glide over the whole pattern?? Glide is more for adding accents to sequences, not for making super deranged melodies...
how would you rate this vs the nerdseq?
once the new expansion modules come for the nerd it will be unstoppable...

When it comes to Eurorack, the answer is always get both
Hello Jikken do you still feel this way? I heard they weren’t going to be updating it, does it feel finished to you?
Hi cuckoo, what happened to that video where you talked about the lovely piano plug in? Seemed to only be up for moments?
Sadly there was a misunderstanding concerning rights.
That's an awful pity. I was a quarter way through watching and had to go out. When I returned it had vanished! What is the software called?
yeah whats it called? Sounds great!
oh, I get it, una corda most likely.
@10:55 adventure of link aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
HERMOD is great but music just falls out of the Metropolis.
LFOception!!!!!
💢💖💌Rockin 💢💖👌
I'm not sure if any music can be done with these toys, but nice video.
hermod is no toy
Are you stoned?? Cool video, cheers :)
Nope. Never been stoned, never done drugs, never had alcohol.
8:37 ARPERGGIATOR
Everything ok. Nice review....but, the eternal smile, is a little perturbing...
