My Thyme finally arrived today, I am excited, impressed, intimidated, anxious to totally lose myself for endless hours in this machine...Cuckoo you have influeced my spending habits again, thank you sir😀
I love the psychedelic sounds that come from using the ambiant noise and feed it back with effects into the device. really unexpected! Thanks for the demo!
you all prolly dont give a damn but does any of you know a method to log back into an instagram account..? I was dumb lost my account password. I love any tips you can offer me.
@Harley Kole I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
It's a fantastic piece of gear. I've got 2 now. It's not just a gritty lofi delay as Cuckoo shows (my ears are in pain) but also a great stereo hifi delay.
its a wild processor...more suited for freeform composition and wide soundscape or noise oriented forms. Thanks for your involved and detailed demo, as usual.
Great tutorial, thank you! Just got this beauty, I've barely tested it and scratched the surface but I love the results so far. Delays can sound really massive, and automating the Fine control can almost get you into reverb territory in some cases.
Love these in-depth demo/tutorials, really helpful in showing of the possibilities and how to get there. More Bastl tutorials? Would love one for the Microgranny 2.5 / Kastle 1.5 / Softpop.
Thank you for the terrific overview of this amazing device -- I've watched it twice now and keep learning new stuff. Nevertheless, there are some features which you do not even touch on, like the "shape" function and its looping capabilities. I, for one, would appreciate an in-depth followup tutorial. Anyway, thanks again for all you do! Cheers! R
Makes me weary forking over $550 for wobbly knobs. Though it might come in handy at the bar when picking up on people ... asking them about pinching my wobbly knobs.
12:15 dobidobidobido ... (so cute) i'm not that interested in thyme for my music right now (even if the concept is great), but i watched/listened to it all the way... thank you
no way!! that is so awesome! i didn't realise you were such a renaissance man! i have liked the facebook page and am eagerly awaiting your release :) thanks cuckoo!
Hey cuckoo, did the una corda sample video for the OP-1 get taken down? I can't find it anywhere, I wanted to use the links you put in the description to purchase the una corda patch for the op-1. Thanks!
Because I can no longer send PMs from my app, I will ask this way..... Do you have the Koma fieldkit, and have you found a creative/interesting way to use it with the thyme? Thank you for this thyme video, M.R. Coco
Hello. This is very different from all of the Volcas. More specialised, and more depth, I'd say. The gain knob is different circuits from all of the other knobs. I'm not sure if it's just mine that is a bit soft like this, or if it's a part of the circuits or mount chosen for the analog gain knob. I'm not worried about it.
Are there any boutique reverb boxes like this delay you could recommend? I'm looking for a nice tabletop reverb with knobs / sliders that would be great for live hands on experimentation. Looking for options other than the usual pedals (Bigsky, Space, Ventris, Empress, RV-500, etc). And something other than the Retroverb Lancet or OTO Bam Space. Maybe something like the Seven Woods Audio Ursa Major Space Station ... but not as expensive. Thanks!
SYNTH ANATOMY true about Hainbach work (I think its wild and wide potential fits into his work.)...I think there is one upload with Thyme. I am curious how Cuckoo will fit it in his avant-funk sound...
Does “ sound “ equal to “ preset “ in the language of Bastl instrument ? You talk about “ 8 presets “ and after a while you talk about “ sounds “ : is it the same ?
Unabashedly digital to the point that basically everything coming out of it sounds like it has bit reduction to my ears. Seems cool but the sounds are a bit harsh, not sure if this one is for me. Love your tutorials as always tho.
It’s like automating a delay effect in your daw, cool for dawless set ups but at $600 for a pedal I’m a bit disappointed. Great review but looks like another niche product, a lot of hold this button, tap here when a free delay effect GUI can access all these parameters intuitively.
Kelly Merrill A Line 6 echo park or any cheapo boss/behringer delay pedal can do this self oscillation. Any tape type delay. feedback max and time very short and mix at maximum.) for a mere fraction of the price. No matter how many times you say ''cool'' ''' even cooler'' or ''interesting effect'' it is still a vintage tape delay effect at the end of the day , Not impressed at all.
Loved these parts. It got really creepy at ua-cam.com/video/1NsalVzoYt8/v-deo.html. It get's cuckoo special at ua-cam.com/video/1NsalVzoYt8/v-deo.html.
Half a grand for the wobbliest knobs and shittiest pads/buttons I've yet seen on ANY synth. And the sounds? Straight out of a zoom MS70CDR... You'd have more fun buying an actual sampler or tape machine. Even a watkins copicat isn't 500$ yet.
My Thyme finally arrived today, I am excited, impressed, intimidated, anxious to totally lose myself for endless hours in this machine...Cuckoo you have influeced my spending habits again, thank you sir😀
I've had a Thyme for about three weeks now and I reference this vid a lot. 1 part inspiring 3 parts SUPER helpful. Thanks Cuckoo
I love the psychedelic sounds that come from using the ambiant noise and feed it back with effects into the device. really unexpected! Thanks for the demo!
I don't know if there is science behind it, but Cuckoo's videos are so much better after a bong rip.
its that beautiful voice
if we get 400 more likes we'll have 420 which will certainly be a sign from the gods that this is true.
you all prolly dont give a damn but does any of you know a method to log back into an instagram account..?

@Tommy Samson instablaster ;)
@Harley Kole I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm.

I still think its one of my favorites and best of the decade.....great design and control of various functions . great box.
It's a fantastic piece of gear. I've got 2 now. It's not just a gritty lofi delay as Cuckoo shows (my ears are in pain) but also a great stereo hifi delay.
Could we get a sample pack of you doing robot sounds with your mouth? It'd be the best thing to ever exist.
Haha, there actually is one on my web store. Not so much robo sounds, but lots of laser and dysch sounds
You beat me to it. haha Thanks for the awesome content. :)
its a wild processor...more suited for freeform composition and wide soundscape or noise oriented forms. Thanks for your involved and detailed demo, as usual.
Thanks!! Yeah, it’s unexpectedly great to soundscapes and freestyling!
You always inspire me. I can barely make it through the video before I want to start noodling too.
I love this (and all Bastl stuff), but wow it's expensive.
Great video, watching you for 30 minutes is a joy.
❤️
Great tutorial, thank you! Just got this beauty, I've barely tested it and scratched the surface but I love the results so far. Delays can sound really massive, and automating the Fine control can almost get you into reverb territory in some cases.
Cool! Thanks, Cuckoo! Can't wait for you to do a video on the Deluge :)
The more I see of this box, the more I like it.
Great stuff. And what an interesting little box. Seems like the ideal drum processor for anything glitchy.
Such a beautiful delay instrument. BASTL hit it out of the park with this one!! I think it suits you very well, excited to see what you create with it
awesome video 👏👏 👏great explanation - thx mr. Cuckoo
That was the best intro on UA-cam bzzzz drrrr
Love these in-depth demo/tutorials, really helpful in showing of the possibilities and how to get there. More Bastl tutorials? Would love one for the Microgranny 2.5 / Kastle 1.5 / Softpop.

Great walk through. Always enjoy your hardware tutorials.
I love this machine. Thanks for the video.
Now can we ask Elektron to make an effects/feedback/mixer box?
We can always ask ;-)
Fuck Elektron
Octatrack?
This device is awesome, but what you do whit this, is much more awesome 😀😀
Holy mother of Moses those are some wobbly knobs.
Makes me weary forking over $550 for wobbly knobs. Though it might come in handy at the bar when picking up on people ... asking them about pinching my wobbly knobs.
The knobs themselves arnt wobbly, its the knob covers. Thats not to say they arnt super cheap SMD knobs, but yeah not that wobbly.
I have one. the only wobbly knob is INPUT GAIN
Everything Bastl does in facken incredible. Started with the Drum, got the synth, then the MG (MicroGranny)... then the Dude mixer. This is next.
Brilliant, entertaining and perhaps most importantly, very helpful. Thanks. Subscribed.
Thank you Chris! 🙏🏼
“Function is a... good button” ~ Cuckoo 2018
Do you know when the SoftPop comes out? And will you make a review? :D
Cheers
Thanks for this vid--just got one of these and it helped me immensely!
12:15 dobidobidobido ... (so cute)
i'm not that interested in thyme for my music right now (even if the concept is great), but i watched/listened to it all the way... thank you
What a semi advent Garde audio toy!
the mouth Fx are on point as usual *w*
🤣
Neat machine! Im not sure though if im wobbling or the encoders of thyme in this video. Does this machine feel solid enough for you?
The wobbly knob was very sus
Thanks for the review.I was wondering about this machine it was vey helpful
Thanks!
Digital tape machine?🤔 I still want!😭
A very good tutorial ~ Thanks!
i am intrigued by the poster in the background at the beginning of the video. does anyone know the film? :) great work as always, cuckoo!
It’s my animated short Tindra’s Light from late 2016. Will release it free later this year. Stay alert and notified ;-)
no way!! that is so awesome! i didn't realise you were such a renaissance man! i have liked the facebook page and am eagerly awaiting your release :) thanks cuckoo!
"Speed up the Death Process" - Cuckoo 16:56
I'm despaired to have missed it. Cuckoo, do you have an hardware alternative to this one as a box or eurorack module ?
15:30 is great too, + 25:57 for a couple of second of secret of monkey island meets zappa synclavier :)
Hey cuckoo, did the una corda sample video for the OP-1 get taken down? I can't find it anywhere, I wanted to use the links you put in the description to purchase the una corda patch for the op-1. Thanks!
Very nice sounds! Great tutorial too, as usual.
Selling my oto biscuit today so i can buy this. Thanks for the tutorial👍
Does it have midi cc's? Pairing it with a Digitakt could be cool, sequencing parameters from Digitakt
I need to read the midi implementation! I just skimmed through that part.
just managed to read up on the cc's.. very tempted to get one! what am i saying, i already have the purchase order half filled out lol
Also found the section on the Karplus-Strong synthesis technique quite interesting!
cuckoomusic over the weekend i patched a cable from the cv pitch on my keystep to the cv input on the Thyme, very cool results
Because I can no longer send PMs from my app, I will ask this way.....
Do you have the Koma fieldkit, and have you found a creative/interesting way to use it with the thyme?
Thank you for this thyme video,
M.R. Coco
Great tutorial, thanks! That PO pattern was hard to stomach though ;-)
Great overview! I wish this explained how to do the looping though 😢
Is it not still pronounced "Time"?
Great Wall of Norman most obviously lol
like the herb, yes.
It’s actually a really cool review, as wacky as it may be :-) thanks so much!
Thanks mate! I appreciate it!
Hello Cuckoo thanks again for another great vid. Is this the same size as a volca? I cant help but notice the input gain
seems a bit flimsy?
It's finally THYME

I was gonna say Bigsky, but.. for further experimentation perhaps you’re ready for ZOIA to build your own solutions?
How long of a sample can you record with this... I am still waiting for my thyme to arrive in the mail
Note to self: "totally lit" is to the right 🔥 🔥 🔥
Thank you!
Well, thank YOU :D
would love another review after you get some more...thyme...on the pedal :)
It's really good at making super high pitched songs.
Anyone else think the gain knob looked really wobbly and loose? Is it actually like that for all of them or is this one just due to wear and tear?
thanks!
What’s that mini synth?
Thyme made an Aphex Twin sound machine :)
At 13:41 it sounds like the melody from the “Close Encounters of The Third Kind”. Is everything ok, are you still with us?
This instrument/effect processor fits perfectly to you or Hainbach :)
and me.
SYNTH ANATOMY

Luv ya cuckoo!!! Greetings from Germany 😍😍😍🤣😂🤣😂
Pretty sure that's still pronounced "Time" - it's a play on words =D Thanks for the review as always.
Does “ sound “ equal to “ preset “ in the language of Bastl instrument ? You talk about “ 8 presets “ and after a while you talk about “ sounds “ : is it the same ?
Did you practice beatboxing? Nice inward clap! :D
this is a beast to tame
sold
lost me at the wobbly knobs, love how it sounds, but doesn't look like it would last
Unabashedly digital to the point that basically everything coming out of it sounds like it has bit reduction to my ears. Seems cool but the sounds are a bit harsh, not sure if this one is for me. Love your tutorials as always tho.
Love U Man !
*What happened to Bastl?*
*Getting hard to find.*
I think the best is to order straight from bastl-instruments.com and to contact them there.
Oh crap that input gain knob is gonna break!
I wish it had CV control.
This is tight!

Kelly Merrill great point, but how do we put a value on the interface using boxes with buttons and knobs? some will always prefer this interface.
trukxelf I prefer hardware too, but the cost benefit doesn’t add up for me, plus this is digital. I love bastl though, I own a microgranny.
Kelly Merrill

Not impressed at all.
Parsley, sage, rosemary and Thhh-yme
I'm hoping that Bastl move into the world of IOS apps too :O)

I drool...incessantly.
This video could seriously use some timecodes! :)
Why must you keep showing awesome things that I can't buy yet???
Sooorryyy ❤️
27:41
I guess I've been pronouncing the name like the herb.
oh yes :)
11:03 hahaha
lets touch it
Next up: Organot
Damn wish I wasn't so broke:(
Polymoon by Meris…..on steroids 😂
and look at the knobs wobble. wtf....
Wobbly knobs vs. Price tag = No thanks
It's worth 80 bucks
Not impressed but annoyed
