OMG thank you so much! I've been dealing with that squeak forever. I rewaxed the chain, changed the quick-release link, greased my pedals, and it was still squeaking. I never would've thought it could be my shoe or cleats. I'm definitely checking that out tomorrow.
I try this out with liquid chain wax now, before buying bee wax. Maybe that works, too? I have an annoying creaking from my LOOK pedals. Thanks a lot for your video and greetings from Germany!
Wow, I have a creak coming from my left cleat. Definitely not pedals, because it creaks on both bikes. Not sure if it's the same issue though, because I use metal SPD cleats. But heck, I am going to try anyway.
once your cleats are fitted to a shoe and your position os locked in why don´t you mark the cleat position with a permanent marker. Taking them off and replacing them is so much easier
I just replaced my Look Keo cleats a couple of weeks ago because my left shoe was creaking on high effort. I didn't think of waxing them, but I will next time.

To prevent cleat wear I put scrap carpet on my garage floor. When I get home from my ride I'm not walking on concrete.
this guy always reminds me Roger Moore

Chain wax is slippery under pressure , bees wax grips under pressure....be careful
@@stevenleffanue yep, that's what I was thinking, too. Maybe it's best to try it out with bees wax. Thanks for your reply!
Thank you as expected a great video. I actually noticed the annoying noise just recently!

Good reminder about this old trick. Anyone with noisy wooden sash windows knows how effective it is.

is this waterproof? can think of quite a few places to use this on a mountain bike
Yes beeswax is waterproof
what is "white spirits" is that like naptha? we in north america have different names for chemicals.
Yes , naphtha.
Could you please also gibt me a link for the candles and the pure beeswax?
Your local hardware shop
@@stevenleffanue I wanted to buy the same product so that I didn't do anything wrong.
I don't have a dealer either
for the solvent.
The best way to get less creaks is to eat less rice, potatoes, fruit and sugar so you put less watts through your pedals haha, Carbs FTW!! 💪💪💪
... leass creaking* / fewer* creaks
And why not use same mix you lubricate chain ? Regards
As stated in the video , bees wax is not a good bicycle chain lubricant as it poses high stiction.
sorry, what is "white spirits? thanks
Also known as mineral spirits, mineral turpentine or petroleum spirits.
Any advice for creaking seat post? Shocking problem on Cannondales.
Carbon grip paste
@@stevenleffanue Thanks but I've tried it and its not quite enough for this really poorly designed wedge system.
Too much post in the seat tube
Don't give up. If the gaps are significant try a thick layer of beeswax.
Is the seatpost round or propriortry?
@@stevenleffanueIt's an oval shape that fits Cannondale frames only.
Cool thanks
Why complaining about creeking crank when your Hub makes noises like a turbofan😅
How come you guys don't ride the latest gear and have white shoes with white socks on???? Cycling is all about fashion image in 2024 !
Prolly cos we are mostly over 50s 😄
