Hasbro variants are a little subtle, really enjoyed Toybiz's variants, e.g. Bald vs. Long Haired Bishop, White vs. Orange Sasquatch, Long vs. Short Hair Black Widow etc...
Something like the bishop variant could've been done with an extra head. Too bad Hasbro didnt do that, or include an alternate burned head for AoA wolverine.

They to do a rerelease Sam Wilson Captain America with his wings this time, the current version of Falcon, and both the long sleeve and an open sleeveless vest classic version of Falcon.
I know I'm literally 4 years late commenting, but if they release a variant, it would be cool if the BAF that the variant came with is also different (example: the original Marvel Legends Vulture had the head of Demogoblin's mouth opened with sticking out, so he looks terrifying. But the variant Vulture came with the head of Demogoblin but his mouth is closed while widely grinning, making him look like a psychopathic menace.)
"Wouldn't you have to collect two of the same figures with only mild changes?" True, but options are better. 2 differents heads are better than 2 of the same heads. Plus, you can buy BAF parts online (Ebay, Amazon, AliExpress, you name it, some sellers just sell the BAF part alone for about 1$-4$ depending on the BAF figure & it's parts)

Awesome video! This helped me. I have two of the newer version and I was able to tell as you instructed on the video the notch was lowered. Both had different lot number 93331 & and 93101.

I've got lot number 93101, found in Walmart today, and it's got the slots on the tricep and not the shoulder! Hope that helps!

Thanks for sharing this interesting tidbit. “Running change” usually means a correction or improvement from the original production batch or release. “Variant” means something purposely planned to differentiate the product either by packaging or the product itself. In consumer manufacturing most cases variants are used to accommodate the differences required for different countries or regions if needed
For example: a variant is the shocker in the sandman wave, one has the thunderbolts logo while the other doesn't
Running change is this vulture, first release with pegholes on the shoulder and then released with pegholes on the arms

I've had the one where the wings tab in the triceps but the number on mine is 93171.

Nice, just received the Demi-Goblin , F4 full waves with a couple of Black Series figures. As we always get the wave last, I just knew we would get the running change & if you look through the window you can see the upper peg. Just playing with Shang-Chi, amazing.
I just got my Vulture yesterday from Amazon, and mine has the slots in the triceps area. Like you mentioned, this version just works better with the wings so I lucked out!

Man, you will be lucky to find this figure at all. I found one at Wal-Mart and some low life son of a bitch took out the Demogoblin head and replaced with the wasp's. I bought it anyway.

Mine has both slots on the arms but one of the soldier joints has a hole
I got the bicep one (i only know now cause of this video) but the lot number is different than what you showed...mine is 93101
I know it's really late in the game but I just bought a Vulture on eBay and it's lot number is 00781. Is that the shoulder slot or the bicep slot version of the Vulture?

Thanks for bringing it up. Thought it was strange with mine. But looking at others now, boy I am glad I bought the better one! haha
I ended up with one that has the holes in the shoulder but the wings are for the one with the holes in the triceps. It was highly frustrating when I first opened it and tried to position it. My work around was just to glue the wing to the large wing and it looks just fine on my shelf.

well i hope i get the bisep one but it still looks the same when you flaire out the wing. And psylocke was a screw up cause i could swear booge nice was holding the purple hair at SDCC.

Nice! "Running change" always refers to the factory side of things. It just means that a change was made during the production run. It often results in a variation because it results in a difference in the same product. But because setup costs are involved while changing tooling, there are times when a running change is planned from the start in order to create two different colors that would be two different characters not considered the same product. So hile a running change can result in a variant, they really aren't interchangable terms.
Reverse the wings so that the sculpted lines are on the bottom dear sir, it looks loads better.

Shame they couldn't fix the face on the alternate head at the same time - looks nothing like Blackie Drago. Not that the body would work as it's too thin.
I bought the Vulture that has the wing attached to the tricep and one of the wings constantly pops off when I move the arm. I wonder if the version that has the wing connect to the shoulder is better ?
