Sam Elliott is an amazing singer. Barnyard is one of the few works i saw from him growing up. I also saw him in Marmaduke and The Good Dinosaur. I saw a clip of him from some show called The Ranch. My mother told me that Elliott is very crass in The Ranch. I haven't seen that show but i find it hard to believe that Elliott is crass. I always thought he played the wise old man who gives the protagonist(s) friendly words of advice.
When Otis was fighting the coyotes as his father Ben was singing this song just like when he was sing and fight them at the chicken coop is so symbolic. It just tells you that even though Ben is not there with Otis physically, he is there spiritually.
Could just be me but I realized that when Ben fought them and first sang the song it was the first part of the song but when Otis was fighting, Ben was singing the second part of the song pretty cool
makes u think whenever youre losing any fight, u remember this song, and you instantly start to get back up, and keep fighting against a world that will always find ways to push you down
I agree this song was in my head the first time me and my 2 cousins were about to fight these other 3 kids from the neighborhood... Long story short my cousins ran and I was there trying to stand my ground , I looked back and they were gone and we'll got my ass kicked by 3 kids . I never forgave my cousins for leaving me but it taught me to always fight for what you believe in even if no one supports you
why does this scene bring me so much peace. i love it its just a cow singing a song but its hitting deep somehow. idk if its the nostalgia or something else but its crazy
I do like how it takes itself seriously and before Otis goes to fight Dag we finally see Otis go through character development. The only problem I have with Branyard is the party part detracts the main part of the flim, Ben's death
@@SayoriChan640 Honestly it kind of makes sense to me. One of my best friends lost his dad at about the same age they portray Otis as (somewhere between 17-20ish) and thats exactly how he coped was through excessive partying

"You can stand me up at the gates of hell, but I won't back down!" That's exactly what happened, Ben was mortally wounded in a battle with coyotes, but he still didn't give up and stood on his hooves until the last to scare off the coyotes and save the chikens. The ranch is an amazing show one of the best I’ve seen nowadays no doubt and Sam Elliot usually plays a cowboy role in most of his movies
If you want to see him in his prime, along with a lot of other Iconic actors, (Val Kilmer, Bill Paxton, Kurt Russel, etc) watch Tomstone
He's one of the best characters in the ranch
Go watch the ranch it is great
Hes just plays a rough edged farmer/Father/ rancher.
August 2024, 6 beers down and digging deep to find this scene. Forgot the name of the movie and the song, it’s been a journey but we made it.
Barnyard and won’t back down
00:27 that transition from him singing to lightning roaring is sick
The way it shows the doom that’s coming while also showing his determination to serve his farm just hits so perfectly.

I love how he stands there and starts playing the guitar while looking at the coyotes getting ready to attack
