He was a standup person, who sincerely cared for his fellow human beings-he also happened to be in my opinion, the greatest ALL AROUND entertainer of the 20th century, and from what I've seen thus far, twenty years into the 21st century, he has these twenty or so years to add to his claim as the greatest entertainer in the last 120 years. But then again, he's never incorporated the grabbing of his crotch into his act. (lol)
Now wait a minute. Davis’s estate probably was owed to the IRS. If you all are saying there was a legal way to distribute his personal effects to his loved ones, that is probably untrue. Doing it before IRS got there was their only chance.

@Jay North today is my brothers bday. I was just thinking about he robbed my mother blind. When my mom found out she asked me to take over her monthly bills to help her to get back on track. We also updated her will the way she wanted. After that I was not allowed to see my mother unless it was supervised. At her funeral my brothers got the preacher. He never mentioned my deceased sister or myself.... It was all about the love of a mother for her sons. That's ok.. I kept all the documents that showed he was/is a thief.

Someone way down in the comments below brought about a VERY GOOD point. This person said that Frank would take most of the money because, he knew that Sammy owed the IRS so much and then would give Sammy his money under the table. That would make a lot of sense to me BECAUSE, Frank WAS a great friend to Sammy. Frank would refuse to perform at venues if they did not accept blacks. This guy in the interview is telling a story, but not the WHOLE story. Always do your research before take a person's story and run with it. I personally am going to do more research on this JUST for the heck of it. If I find out that his whole story is true then SHAME SHAME on EVERYONE who did him wrong.

Frank was already wealthy. Did he need the lion share as well. You need to scroll down and read a comment from Kat Slat, where she says that Frank knew that Sammy owed a lot of money to IRS, so taking the lion's share of the profits from the tour meant that the IRS could not take much of it in back taxes. Frank could then give it to Sammy under the table. It was Frank who paid Sammy's medical bills when he was in the car accident that cost him his eye, and he helped Sammy get back on his feet after that. You honestly think that with all that, Frank was taking all the money to line his own pocket?

Met Sammy 80s in the Dunes Diamond shop... Armed private guard...Sammy looked and smiled broadly and my daughter and I. Looked relieved we would not ask the usual questions, etc. A gentle spirit I saw..

I just want to point out no matter how all around talented he was he and all his show buddies layed down with snakes his entire career. A true story that involves Sammy Davis Jr.
Frank Sammy and Dean were coming out of the Sands Hotel and Casino. Frank said to the vale to go and get his car. The Vale brought his car back to Frank. Frank proceeded to ask the vale what was the biggest tip he had ever gotten. The Vale said $500. Frank peeled off a grand and handed it to the Vale. Then Frank ask if the Vale remembered who had tipped him $500. He said "It was you Mr Sinatra" Dean and Sammy fell to the ground laughing and Frank said "I don't believe it. . .I have been out tipped by myself" I met the Vale when I worked in Vegas and he told me that story. . .

But my uncle told me Sammy was a nice man. I'm sorry to hear about the lack of grace concerning his passing. Sammy was a National Treasure and he should have been treated him with more respect.

If he owed money to the IRS then presumably his relatives, if they wanted his property without the authorities getting it , would have to first of all get it out of the US where it could be impounded .The same goes for any earnings, so it is not surprising that his friends only paid him the basic contract fee as if they gave him all of the money it would be taken off him.I am not saying it was right to tax dodge only that seems to be what they were doing.
I would like to believe that people were doing him a favor by taking things from him only to repay Sammy under the table, and out of the IRS's radar. But his stuff started disappearing only after his cancer went public as terminal. And not before, even when Sammy's money troubles were pretty well known.

Oh for heavens sake. Sammy couldn't take it with him. He was heavily in debt. Owed the IRS millions. It was all going to be auctioned off to pay off these debts anyway. In reality, Sammy would probably be glad friends and relatives got the stuff rather than the IRS.

Yeah, but he worked his ass of to get that money 53 years,but you have to remember Sammy was also sending his dad a fat cut of the money he was making doing shows.Sammy also had a huge spending issue as well,he could not for the life of him ,save any money.He was a shopaholic.I feel bad for his legacy though,he had two kids he couldn't leave anything too.His staff had no right to touch anything without his permission, neither did his so called wife.Not to speak I'll of the dead, that Frank Sinatra was something else,.............

No one escapes the IRS. He had a terrible accountant and just as bad investors.
In actuality, he let this happen, it started by being his own fault.

Evil people!!!! Vultures!!!! I always think of that scene in Zorba The Greek, when the old woman is in her bed dieing, and Zorba's trying to shield her eyes from the scavengers in her very room picking her dry before she's drawn her last breath!!! -Sammy was such a talent!!! It's sad to know this is how it ended for him. Years ago, a photographer friend of mine asked me to come along on a photo shoot to the Carlton I think it was, for a benefit to raise money for H.E.A.R.T. An organization that helped people with recovery from addictions. Sammy was the feature. We watched Sammy from behind the stage. It was such a very big thrilling!!! I had Loved him and saw him as such a big talent as a little girl.. To see him on stage,.... giving it his all.... When that curtain came down you could just see him almost collapse!!! People back stage ran to talk with him, as well as my friend and myself. We were last in line, and I could clearly see how tired Sammy was..... I felt bad..... I told my friend, in a whisper "We're not going to get to see him." He herd me, and told somebody " I want to see these two in my dressing room right now." Wow!!! I didn't know what to say other that the usual "I think you're wonderful, and I named my cat after you....." I didn't want to tax him anymore than that, plus I realized I didn't really have much more to tell him and it would be selfish of me to .... try to get more time with this great talent who was clearly deserving of his quiet, rest, alone time. -Thank you Sammy, for giving a Bloomington, Minnesota, sweed, the time of your day. This was his lifestyle, so it is not surprising. He led a very wild life that ended prematurely and very messily. There are many tales of drug-infused orgies, etc. in that home. Altovise was just another user. He had enormous talent, but I'm sure the years coping with racism in and outside of Hollywood contributed to his downfall. RIP.
It's hard for me to believe that Sammy Davis, Jr had more of a challenge from racism than a black cook, construction worker, etc. He had powerful people helping him and he became world famous and beloved. He was probably a nice enough man but he clearly never thought to make secure provision for his children, his wives, or himself.
