Joe, the debate was akin to a car crash with the car hanging over a ledge. It's not too soon to make a decision. Yes, the car was a wonderful machine but it's run was over. The new Labour party is centrist/centre right. They purged the left and only won this election because Reform didn't back out like they did at previous elections, which split the right wing vote. The money and support flowing into Labour is coming from old Tory backers, which tells you all you need to know about what they'll really do now they have power. It's going to be another 5 years of the same. The media is spinning it as some great life changing victory to get clicks, that is all.
Labour got millions fewer votes on their centrist platform than they did back in 2017 when they ran on a left wing platform. Yet our outdated first past the post system has given them a landslide victory with only 20% of adults actually voting for them.
If you look at the election data you will see that they barely won in many constituencies and only because many Conservatives voted Reform in protest.
When Labour fails to accomplish anything sufficiently enough in 5 years to fix the major problems caused by 14 years of Tory rule (and they won't because Rachel Reeves is a Thatcherite Tory at heart, Wes Streeting is owned by private healthcare etc), then many people will go back to Tories or will support Reform.
2029 will see Labour lose and the right back in power.
