Too much fun! 510/1600 Dato's trailingarm IRS makes for an outstanding old school rally car. I built an L20 Baja 510 back in the 80s that had some Datsun/Nissan factory rally suspension parts on it. Your L24, is that an L20 with a diesel crank? There's an outfit here in California called Rebello Racing building L23s and making an absurd 235hp out of their Frankenstoked Ls.
Just get a 260z engine it's basically a stroked 240z engine with bigger exhaust valves ,,,just unshroud around valves install 280z intake valve ,,port match intake and exhaust ports and add decent cam,,,basic build great flow and tq and hp,,,280zx dizzy ,,dual weber's or triples and you're set ,,,how do I know,,,I run this build ,,,,no need for swaps,,, inline 6 makes decent power it's all in the head work and cam,,,better to have period correct racer,,,
I have a Datsun 1600... they would have been impressively fast back in 68 when they came out... hard to imagine really

I'd have position those CIBIEs the Escort way,two up-two down leaving nice intake for the Radiator.
I went with the SR20DET in my 510 with a few upgrades I get 325hp at the wheels on pump gas. Easy install and well worth it.

slow around corners you need to stop taking foot off accelerator
